  1. God, if ANYONE has a spare ticket to the Big Day Out i would love you forever if you could holla and you will of course be compensated... I'm spewing I missed out on tickets and beginning to get desperate despite being so far away!!!!

  2. It would really be hard for me to see robbo in a carlton jumper!

Realistically, I think it will be hard to see Robbo in ANY other jumper... But the boy has still got a bit left to give, and i really do hope they give him a crack. We'll watch him and probably cheer for him, except of course when he's playing for the Dees...

  3. Good on Beamer for making a statement over McLean's pathetic retreat to that nest of vipers over at Visy Park. I'm going to enjoy given them a pantsing when our young team matures and becomes the power of the competition.

I like your passion, but as the ultimate pessimist I think it'll be a couple of years for us before this happens. But mark my words, it will happen.

  4. From a football point of view away games at the MCG are very good. You're right, we get a chance to win and then we also haven't used our home games.

But from a financial view it would be nice to play a big home game early, get some coin in the bank.

Agreed fully. Early season interest, imagine that both teams are going horribly 6 weeks in (touch wood), small crowd, low numbers, no coin. Bank the money while you can, early in the season while there's a lot of interest.

  5. I read that it's on a Thursday night this time, not the traditional Saturday morning like previous years. I guess to hit up more of a prime-time audience...? I'm sure it'll be broadcast on foxsports... i'll be watching it definitely :D

  6. This disappoints me a little but I understand why it has been done.

I thought Valenti did very well with limited opportunities, but would have suffered game time once our midfield became more 'full' after this draft.

I liked Buckely's endeavor and dash, and unfortunately I think the Injury he sustained last year ended his career at the demons.

Thank you boys for your efforts in Red and Blue colours and I wish you well for the future.

  7. A nothing interview, really. Talked about Ball, said nothing we don't already know. Talked about McLean leaving, said nothing we don't already know.

I had a quick listen and yeah, you're spot on. For regular readers of this forum, everything he said was on there except the only think I hadn't seen was that he named the players who came in early.

That's it. Apparently on SEN tomorrow morning too...

  8. I'm definitely interested in pulling on the Red and Blue again... and this round-robin format sounds pretty interesting. Although I fear the quick-fire format could endanger our W/L record?

  9. Bailey said at the start of this year that his aim was to have a more competitive team in '09, and this has clearly been achieved. Next year we will be setting our sights higher, definitely more competitive again, and with it more wins...

I think that we need to also develop consistency. Yes, we were more competitive - we had a fair few closer games than the previous year, but we can't play well one week and lose by say >20 then get p'wnd by 80 the next week...

  10. Hah, yeah, it is an ABSOLUTE joke. I continue to laugh at the poor excuses that come up.

I even had one of my bosses at work approach me, who is a Carlton member, and said they're going to do it. The only reason I didn't laugh in his face and call him a (rude)*head was because he's my boss...

  11. I can see this happening to us in our lower-drawing games such as those against North and Interstate clubs like the Manuka game against Sydney... Although that gets a pretty good deal for us if I remember? Probably can't be broken.

  12. And in 04 where they wanted midfielders, taking Delidio before Roughhead, and Tambling before Buddy.

Not saying its good or bad, just an example of drafting for needs

In the Toiges defense, I think taking Deledio has been justified by him winning his 2nd B&F in a row. Tambling before Buddy = Unjustified...

But we say this in hindsight, what a beautiful thing it is!!!

  13. Carlton seemingly have their fingers in lots of pies.

*Said to be leading the race for Matthew Spangher from WCE

*Put forth a supperior monetary offer to Josh Gibson, than that of Hawthorn

*Actively chased Boak and Salopek from Port Adelaide

*Have inquired about a trade involving Brad Fisher for McGuire from St Kilda

*Have inquired about Ben McKinley from West Coast

*Have expressed intrest in obtaining Andrejs Everitt from the Bulldogs

*Have expressed interest in trading for Brock McLean.

.... must be nice to have money

*Allegedly going to submit an application to get Tom Scully under some BS Father/Son Rule... (Fags)

    OK,proper answer:

I would think that we'll see this develop a bit more in the coming 2-3 weeks. Once the GF is out of the way, newspapers will need something to talk about. As soon as the draft camp starts (30th September-October 1) we'll be flooded with heaps of information about who's looking at what, phantom drafts, there will surely be more interest, if you can wait about a week or 2...
