  1. In my heart I'm optimistic, however I think we'll get killed. A lot of young blokes will get toweled up on Sunday and all I hope is that they watch, follow, tackle and learn. 10 goal loss at least is my realistic answer. My optimistic answer... Showing we're not push overs and making the cats earn a win if they can even get that.

  2. Unrelated to the way that this topic has gone. Just wanted to say I made the 4 o'clock and then was stoked to have just bought my membership and put on the new scarf just in time for Jimmy to arrive, sing the song and enter with high hopes. It was a truly disgusting game and i'm still happy with the investment I made today. Now I have to go see a shrink because I can't wait to go again next week to see us take on the cats.

  3. This really does make me happy. I am one of the guys that couldn't have resisted a top ten pick for Green but I also knew deep down that we're probably the only people who realise that that is the realistic value of him. Be proud to finish in the red and blue Greeney, I look forward to seeing your influence over our young and emerging talent.

  4. I really like this topic. Normally I dislike these discussions but this one is unusual because of the player involved. People have said and I agree that Rivers value is over what we'd get for him, I agree. I really like him so i'd say keep but it is a real gamble isn't it? I mean surely this is his last chance? With another injury crippling season you'd have to say his trade value would be nil and his career could be done.

  5. This has probably been written elsewhere but does anyone know if Melbourne can and or will put Jeff White and Adem Yze on the trade table? While Yze's undoubtedly finished, even if we gave Jeff away for pick 96 or something a la the Steven King trade of last year isn't that something? It looks after White and we're making a gain (albeit limited).

  6. My old man will kill me for not saying Flower but I just don't remember seeing him that well. So i'd say my best are between Lyon, Neitz and Stynes. Honourable mentions for the two that I think could've been anything in Schwartz and Jackovich

  7. This may be the stupidest idea i've yet come up with so feel free to shoot it down but........ Is it possible to deal with Carlton? I mean we take Warnock with pick 1 (and maybe a player) for pick three, then just trade him to Carlton for whetever they're offerng? First or second round pick? We're no worse off, but with a stronger draft position, Warnock gets what he wants and Freo get their Natanui. They could just be stupid enough to do it...

  8. Off topic completely but... Cordner tell me you weren't one of the poor blokes putting up with the idiot with the cast on his arm. This bloke behind me all freaking second half at the city end. His support was great and vocal and who cares until all of a sudden he starts cutting sick cos some bloke he doesn't know wouldn't high five him. Toothless loon, thought I was back at queens birthday...

  9. I agree. I'm sorry guys and understand it's solely my opinion but Jamar has to go. With the possibility of Warnock, and then maybe Naitanui I just don't see a reason to keep him. As I said to my girlfriend at the game today, being over 200cm's does not mean you're an AFL player. Hell I even saw this guy struggle to sheppard... how can a man that size not block opposition? Play him through the year all you like Bailey I just don't see this clanger machine improving.

PS: Once again, happy to go without Naitanui if I get to see the guys play like that. My voice is hoarse and with work tomorrow I couldn't care less. Great game from Miller and I continue to view Green as our best listed player. Not playing as potential suggested he would but I think i'm happier with what he is as opposed to a pinch hitting forward.

  10. So I don't know if this has been mentioned on a thread elsewhere here, however, I'm just wondering if it'd be worth making a play for Kerr. I instantly thought we'd have the money for that sort of player and most likely pick one or two so the Eagles would deal but then I thought a little deeper...

Carlton weren't even willing to put up pick one for Judd! Smart move...

Everyone is basically out of the draft for the next couple of years. Would Kerr make such a difference that we'd give up either Rich or Naitanui and then lose possible young quality in the future?

  11. I was surrounded by hawks. We didn't see much red and blue where we were sitting. I saw the whole game but was shattered as I only got in as the warm up was finishing. My mate and I were devastated to miss the opportunity to say goodbye to Neita. Can't believe I missed that.

  12. 3- Mclean, just loved his game, phenomenal first quater.

2- Garland, great on Buddy. I was terrified of this game facing Roughead, Williams and Buddy without Rivers. The kid was great and really level headed.

1- Take your pick, Aussie, Beamer, Bate or Miller.

I don't want to bring the mood of this thread down because the boys all put in a great effort but I just don't know how long I can stand watching Jamar...

  13. Milller. I don't know if i've bagged him on here but God knows i've bagged him to mates. I want him to lead the way like he did against Freo. I don't expect a bag of goals, just take a giant leap towards Neitas ethic. Work hard, make opposition players earn the ball when he's about and lead the team with actions. A five point win would see me flying for the rest of the week.

  14. Well I said at the start of the season that I couldn't buy a membership but i'd be at every game I could. I've been to most (not Geelong, Brisbane or Adelaide) and for f*cks sake i'll be there Sunday. Buddy may rip us apart but there's no way i'm letting our captain leave the team without my screaming thankyou. The Carltank match was no way to go, but if any Melbourne member/suppoter/sympathiser can be there, cheer a champion. We don't see men like Neitz very often.

Also, as a question... has anyone in recent memory lead their team to a GF berth on their debut season as captain? Just wondering... thanks Neita.

  15. You know Robin Williams said that God gave men two brains and only blood enough to power one. In Tassie, the home of the W-neck jumper they've got one extra organ to take care of. It shows in the president of tas hawks' thinking. Poor form Jeff...oh and by the way, someone urinated and defacacted on your blazer... oh hell, my bad, you CHOOSE to wear that?!? Yeah... umm we'll take your opinions on board.

PS: Way to go Gardner with a fine display of balls in defence of the club. Do I agree with him? No. Will I stick with him while he remains president of this club? Hell yes. I love this club.

  16. A truly sad day for the MFC. Neita, you are a champion. Explosive talent coupled with humility is becoming a rare commodity in modern AFL. It's not only the Dees (who you represented so honestly and bravely) but the AFL that has lost something today. Thanks for the memories.

  17. Yea I've gotta say sorry guys. I see arguments for both winning and losing but geez if I didn't love watching that game. Screamed til my throat was sore (voice just came back today), met Barrass outside the ground (It was amazing) followed by many beers over the bridge at transport and a kick around fed square. I'll take the 15 wins. Sure it won't happen, we may only get 14 wins, but no matter how good any kid is I will not sacrifice that feeling that I get by seeing the guys in victory.
