  1. Paul Wheatley is a much better player than many on here give him credit for. IMO he's a victim of the "every player is either a star or a dud" mentality that seems to plague this website.
  2. Indeed. The poll now has PJ in front where as before Clint's bump is was tipped well in favour of Jamar. I tried to lock the poll but alas, you can't. It's completely meaningless now.
  3. Even if it were relevant, as someone else mentioned, in Melbourne we have more pulling power than Freo.
  4. End of the season. That is, once the club has played its last game and has had its last training run for the season, that player is out of contract.
  5. Do you mean Nick Walsh?
  6. The real outcome of this interview should be to get Cam Bruce off the airwaves ASAP. Honestly, I'd rather hear Aaron Davey's nervous but honest stammers than the usual Cam Bruce hyperbole. He, White, Yze and Robertson always spew forth the same old crud when doing interviews. It drives me nuts. By the way, the current game plan we've been seeing is not run and carry. It's the opposite, stand still and handball off as much as possible to other blokes that are standing still. There's no running or carrying, how could be called run and carry?
  7. You do realise this is a thread from this time last year right? Jamar's really struggling right now. Has not come on in the way I had hoped, where as at this point, PJ is developing better than I thought he would. Can I revote? :D Edit: Sorry about the thread closure, seems you can't close the poll without closing the topic. Topic (and poll) reopened!
  8. Should I change your user title from "Red and Blue" to "She" ?
  9. The Bears drafted Andrew Jarman in the 1987 draft. Again, he didn't go.
  10. You're still implying that he's predominantly a receiver when in actual fact the stats show he's our best ball winner. Are Jones and McDonald receivers too? (or is that McDonland, you've said that twice now :D) I believe Fan's talking smarts and skills in winning the ball. Using it is another matter entirely.
  11. How is it common sense Sleeve? Just wondering. To me it seemed to be a pretty blatantly obvious eye gouge. I can't see how the tribunal got this one right.
  12. No, the point is that Bruce isn't just a receiver as you imply. You don't have to continually put yourself at the bottom of the stacks-on pack ala Jones, McDonald or McLean to be a ball winner. Bruce will happily run in to a large group of people and come out with the ball, but people don't notice, either because they have a preconceived idea about Bruce, or the fact that he does so without any fanfare such as knocking blokes over. Compare that to someone like Yze (or Hards :D) who will almost invariably be found at the outside of the pack, or running past going "gimme".
  13. That isn't saying much.
  14. Yep. West Coast drafted Tim Watson at one stage, who did not go over. West Coast also drafted a young lad from Tassie by the the name of Gavin Cooney who did not go, but went on to be one of the state's best players at the top level down here. He would have easily made it in the AFL had he gone. Former Tasmanian Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup batsman Jamie Cox was also drafted by Essendon in the late 80s but elected to persue his cricket career instead. That's my trivia for the day. I remember a few years ago when a boy from Perth (Clancy Rudeforth?) wrote to all the clubs outside WA telling them that if they drafted him, he would not go. I believe they changed the rules after that.
  15. He was on the supplementary list, but was never on the senior list.
  16. They took him with pick 19 according to Wikipedia.
  17. Any idea why? I seem to remember they took him fairly early in the draft, but I wasn't aware that he never actually went to the club.
  18. Just for the record Jaded is a she.
  19. Woah, let's back up a little here. Were you present during Neale's addresses to his players? How can you say that he instructed his players to handball at all costs as if it were 100% certain fact?
  20. Godders has been decked behind play every game for the last 4 weeks now, it's getting ridiculous. It's all well and good to protect the "ball players" but sheesh. Something has to be done.
  21. Jeez, talk about twisting a man's words.
  22. The problem with only having 3 words to play with is that you can't tell anywhere near the full story. Jones -- yeah he was great but his game wasn't perfect. His kicking at times is not great, and if he's going to take so many shots on goal from 50 he needs to drill more of them. A weak criticism I know, but it's warrented and something you can't hope to say in 3 words. Ditto with Brock. Showed his importance, sure. But he also showed why you usually bring players back through the VFL when you have that luxury. He showed glimpses of his best at times, but also at times looked to be horribly out of touch with the pace of the game. It was definitely a "blow off the cobwebs" game for him IMO.
  23. It really depends on how much crapola, outstanding and average respectively "weigh", but now I'm getting a little anal.
  24. I didn't think we were outstanding today. We were utterly crapola for two quarters, average for one and outstanding for one. That averages out to roughly "okay" by my dodgy maths.
  25. PJ did all the right things today. His mark in the goal square was great -- right place, right time. He got a head full of steam and fluffed the goal chance though. I hope he learns. By the way, who knew Jeff White had the league's highest possession count for any ruckmen in the league this year?
