As others have said, I think that often posters and other fans (I'm loath to say supporters) have already decided that Morton has played poorly before the games have even started. Definitely the new whipping boy.

The footy Gods gave him three games of valuable experience; it was pure fortune that got him in the side this time around and he seized the opportunity. This guy is going to be an absolute weapon, but back to Casey now to hone his craft.

Develop some tunnel vision. In the last three years I've found myself with a "couldn't give a rat's arse what the rest of the footy world thinks" attitude, so long as I believe in the direction the club's going. I don't reckon I've ever been this happy as a MFC supporter.

I don't like the idea of Martin playing on Vickery when he's in the forward line. Martin is turning in to a damaging attacking weapon, I don't want to use him as a negating defender. If we've got Gawn in the side as well then we've wasted a runner just so we can use Martin as a defender 50% of the match. It seems to me to be an outcome where the best possible result is a break even with Martin and Vickery cancelling each other out, when we should be looking for outcomes where we're better off than they are. I don't know the answer though. How have other clubs (successfully) matched up on Vickery when he goes forward? There must be another way he can be matched up on without taking our attacking ruckmen out of attack.

Support Tom as we always would. Cheer when he gets it, clap him as he comes of the ground etc. Just be supportive members; make him feel that we're behind him. I think that's where our influence begins and ends. P.S. Not merging the thread. PM me if you want to discuss further.

bush demon, I'd say that the abuse of Bruce was always clamped down on - cripes, how many times did we end up banning Yze_Magic because of it? Often with player criticism it's a very fine line, I see posts on a daily basis that make me go "hmm, this one probably straddles the line", but most often pay benefit of the doubt. The reason is that player abuse shouldn't be tolerated, but at the same time we're trying to avoid creating an excessively censored environment because I think that is just as unattractive (and much more difficult to maintain). It's difficult enough to be consistent when you're not sure yourself whether a post has crossed the line or not - add this to the fact that there are currently probably 6 active moderators weighing up the same issues and it's not often you'll get the same result every time. The other thing is that not every moderator reads every post - we're all just members here like you, and we mostly just read what we're interested in. Especially in a mega-thread like this one - three pages of posts were added to this thread during the time I was asleep last night. I have a full time job and a family too - I just don't have time to wade through every single post. Just a tip for yourself and for everyone: If ever you see a post that you think has crossed the line, click the "Report" button that (appears at the bottom left of each post) and it will be reviewed and addressed by a Moderator. Everyone can do their bit to make Demonland a more readable place.
