  1. Young player shanks a kick for goal in his first match? Oh no, obviously a dud. Delist him now. Have a look at his breathing as he's lining up for goal. He's so nervous he's on the brink of a heart attack. Give him a break.
  2. Had a handful of games where he completely bombed - perhaps he's a player whose confidence is made or broken early in the game. Other than that, had another outstanding year. The Frawley/Garland combo is probably my favourite aspect of this team at the moment. Still can't believe our luck at how cheaply we got him.

    Daffy

Just like in any profession, there are also many morons,so let's hope we get the right one.
  4. At risk of incurring old55's wrath for failing Mini Draft 101, how does this make any sense? If they're worthless to GWS then not trading them doesn't help them attain O'Meara, it just stops them from picking up players/more draft picks for free. More likely that they're hanging out for the best offers - I wouldn't be in that great a hurry to do the trades either in this case, just make the other clubs sweat for a few days first.
  5. This isn't footy, it's footy politics. I love it myself, but if you're not a fan, click the big "X" on your browser and leave it closed until March.
  6. Too late, all allocated. Happy I got one and I'd probably have felt greedy nabbing two of them anyway. All good, love the initiative.
  7. Awesome! I got one for my 18 month old son. Also have another one on the production line, but unsure what to put since sex is as yet unknown, therefore his or her name is not yet agreed on!
  8. I don't mind this at face value, but from a list management perspective Maric is a delistable and we don't have many of those. If we did this deal it becomes doubly important to re-home Bate and/or Dunn or we'll find ourselves having to delist contracted players. It would also significantly reduce Joel Macdonald's chances of a new contract.
  9. I heard (third hand) of a club official describing trade week as "that week where we try to offload all our players that are no good, and every other club tries to do the same". Pretty much sums it up, really.
  10. These things are all essential for playing elite level football. Playing in the IR isn't essential, it's a gimmick and that's it. And you're being silly with the driving thing. I remember a few years ago Luke Hodge came under fire because he played a game of cricket in the off season for a mate's cricket club (and scored a heap of runs too IIRC). That's a more suitable comparison. Players should be looking after their bodies as best as they can, but obviously within reason (banning them from driving is outside the bounds of reason).
  11. This rumour comes up every year. Might have a bit more legs this year though as it's been reported on AFL.com.au that he's asked for a trade.
  12. Haha! They pulled the article. Epic fail, Herald Sun. I'm still giggling :D
  13. Yes, thank heavens we haven't got Bails sitting there saying "pretty good is enough, Rick, so keep up the good work" anymore.
  14. In dire need of some continuity. This might sound extreme or alarmist, but I think he's still at risk of not making it. That would be a huge shame. I'd love nothing more than to see him play 20+ games next year.
  15. Was competing with his locker room neighbour for a spot in the side this year. Started the year behind and finished with a comprehensive victory in that battle - thank God. Still got lots of room for improvement, but there's a lot to like. The one handed marks annoy me; it's just asking for trouble. Overall I'd say I'm pretty happy with his development trajectory so far.
  16. Now that I've had time to think this through a bit, I still think they are tied together. The want is useless without the do, and the do doesn't exist without the want. Each of them implies the other, and either of them in isolation have no meaning. This is getting a tad on the abstract side though, really.
  17. It's actually impressive, the way we on Demonland can manage to turn ANY thread in to an opportunity to bag Morton. The guy had a bad year, give him a break FFS.
  18. He's currently the best player on our list, but for whatever reason doesn't deliver as such every week. It feels like I've been waiting forever for Col to come of age. Continue to wait I shall...
  19. Fair enough. And I didn't actually say Cale had been robbed of luck, was just making a general comment.
  20. He's obviously loved by the club, and he's also loved by me. Keep up the good work Jordie - can't think of a player who I'd be more pleased for to see carrying the cup on Grand Final day.
  21. I can't think of a player in my lifetime that I've had so much trouble supporting. Would accept any neutral trade for him and would strongly consider a downgrade in late round draft picks if it came to that. Would keep Bate ahead of Dunn. Let's just hope that other clubs are as sucked in by his faux toughness as many Demonland members are.
  22. Determination and application sound like one and the same thing. I'd say the three broad qualities are talent, application/determination and luck. Plenty of players have had failed careers on the lack of element #3.
  23. There's nothing wrong with having standards.
  24. My only concern is that I see him through such ridiculously rose coloured glasses that even I recognise it, so I could be setting myself up for huge disappointment (cue rpfc...). I just find it really hard to form an objective opinion of him. Anyway, he's a certainty for the captain role after Green makes way for mine.
