  1. As for Nev Jetta, I think it is time we faced facts that the kid just isn't any good. I desperately want him to be, because he is tenacious and aggressive and willing, but he doesn't get involved enough and doesn't hurt enough when he does.
  2. I thought Gawn going was a fairly obvious move - he has struggled for the last few weeks and Fitzy has been white hot in the VFL. Not sure what to make of the Magner change though.
  3. Then Viney gets a redundancy package. I don't see the problem other than PR, which I don't think is a massive deal - or at least is outweighed by the need for urgent change. Edit: The obvious answer is to not make a man with a doubtful future the caretaker. If you're really that worried, make Rawlings the caretaker coach. Not much chance that an assistant coaching position will be made redundant.
  4. So what if his previous position no longer exists? That is going to happen independently of whether he fills in as the caretaker coach or not.
  5. Found the issue, it's network related (a piece of infrastructure between us and the server - seems only Telstra customers are on that particular path). Will follow up tomorrow - have a couple of solutions in mind, but this issue will probably linger a few days. Hang tight all - thanks for your patience.
  6. tonatopia and Hardnut are shoo-ins, surely. Also needs more WYL and dee-luded.
  7. A month's ban for anyone who I see in the "users reading this topic" list who doesn't respond to the above request.
  8. I expect it will help. It's absolutely fine for me on my Internode account (which uses the iiNet network), but on my Telstra 3G (tethered to laptop, so identical device basically) it is, as you put it earlier, SADB. As maurie said before, the server is hosted in Japan, and each ISP takes a different route to get there, so there's lots of things that can die in between. I suspect (hope) that this is confined to Telstra customers. Edit: I'm interested in hearing from *anyone* at the moment on what you're seeing. Let us know who your internet provider is (e.g. Telstra, Optus, Internode, iiNet etc) and how responsive the site is being for you at present.
  9. For those having problems, how was it going on Sunday night? Looking at the data, that was when "stress" on the server peaked in the last 7 days. That was match day, so I'm assuming you were all online with torches and pitchforks armed as I was Right now, it isn't under much stress at all (with ~600 users online).
  10. Heh, I was actually thinking upon reading this thread: "I hope Neeld doesn't get the flick between now and this evening..."
  11. Thanks. The server is indeed in Japan.I might jump on to the server over the busy period and see if I can learn anything. I'm due for a server upgrade which increases server memory and network bandwidth anyway, which should mean an overall performance increase. Means a 15 minute site outage, this is probably the opportunity to do that while I'm there.
  12. What's it like "normally" for you during peak times maurie? I ask because most of the time I have no issues at all, even when the site is busy. Is it usually slow for people or is this only a recent thing?
  13. Hmm. Is it still slow now? I had issues last night but put it down to my crappy phone as that is usually the problem for me. Seems okay to me now on my tablet...?
  14. I can fully understand people not attending because they are bored. Footy is ultimately entertainment, so if you're not enjoying yourself, you have the right not to attend. I don't understand not attending out of principle though. You achieve nothing but hurting the club by doing that.
  15. A figure head coach... Has the crazy reached an all time high on this forum or what? How about a coach who actually can and will coach? How about David Schwarz as the figure head coach? He could juggle it with being the figure head president.
  16. So how do you fix this problem? If you delist all 15 of your NQR players at once, you go so deep in to the draft that you're finding 8 more Nicholsons, Couches and Bails, only now they have zero games experience rather than 30 to 50. If you are lucky you might find a Matt Jones or two, but while he is handy, that hardly seems like the path out of oblivion. No, the replacement of NQRs has to be piecemeal, otherwise the very real possibility is the side getting even worse. Don't think that is possible? Neither did I until this year. Delisting players currently in our best 22 is not going to help us at all, because they have to be replaced with someone.
  17. DeeZee, I think a boot camp is totally unnecessary. I think they're already being punished enough on the field.
  18. No wholesale changes to the list for mine. Clear off the players who are clearly a long way outside the best 22 as per normal; give the rest the benefit of the doubt. I don't know how you could possibly make objective decisions on these players at the moment; they are all playing with so little energy that you just couldn't tell where they are really at. It's all in the players' brains IMO. It may be that Neeld can coach - doubtful - but it looks to me that there is just no getting them out of this hole they are in, and it will take a major shake up to do so. I expect a new coach to have a big psychological boosting effect on our players, increase the moral and get them playing with spirit again. From there we can truly start the rebuild, without going back to ground zero yet again.
  19. Technically true, but the wait feels like forever on these late afternoon games.
  20. Does Gillies still have one? I noticed that Watts, Terlich et al have given it the flick.
  21. Not that I would expect a boy like you to understand the finer points of... well, anything, but technically speaking we didn't spend a pick on him individually, he was part of the Dawes Hogan package.
  22. I think he will be the biggest, strongest man on the field when he plays; he was damn close to being so during his games in the NAB.

    Beamer

We really don't need to rehash this yet again.
  24. What are we offering that will make him want to come?
  25. It is a shame that this young girl had to learn her lesson by public humiliation and shaming. Let's just hope she does actually learn something from it.
