Out: Salem In: Kent I just don't think Salem is keeping up with the pace of the game that well and really struggled today and has been just hanging on for some time now. I've held the view all year that Kent is clearly in our best 22 and should be in the side, and from all reports was BOG for Casey on the weekend. The single change seems logical and timely. JKH played his worst game for the club to date but Roos has demonstrated that backing the player is his preferred method, so I suspect he'll get the opportunity to redeem himself. And lol at the guy who suggested Matt Jones might be dropped. There always seems to be one.

LOL. I'm the stupid one. This guy!

Stunning logic. Well done. Apparently goals in the first minute of the game don't count now.

6. Jones N 5. Dunn 4. Pedersen 3. Vince 2. Watts 1. Grimes

Bitterly disappointing. Well outclassed by a quality side. The thing that is probably a mitigating factor is that other than Dawes, our worst players were the youngest; I'm thinking Tyson, Viney, Salem and JKH all got lessons in how gun midfields go about it. Pedersen, Dunn and Nath Jones all continued their excellent form, and were our clear top 3 for mine.

Boring game so far.

I feel sick.

Had the travel budget, the company AND the family leave pass arranged to go, but failed on the logistics (flight times and strict timing on when I needed to get home). Still spewing.

These sorts of posts make me feel so old. I've seen this post 1000 times before. Different names but same content: every year some fresh faced poster wants to put the 38th-44th players on our list on the trade table. The other clubs do not want our garbage any more than we want theirs. Nobody is going to trade anything worthwhile for Tapscott or Blease. Unless they have a miraculous change of form, their AFL careers are drawing to a close.

Is he Jordan? I've not once seen him referred to as anything other than Jordie, including on the club's website. I had always just assumed he was just Jordie.
-
Schneider and Dempster?

We took Matt Jones and Dean Terlich with the picks we got for Martin. That said, we'd probably have landed both of them regardless of where our higher picks were as I doubt they were in hot demand, so it amounted to being a freebie to Brisbane.
-
Enjoying the Stefan Martin Experience do his best impersonation of a footballer reborn. He always seemed to me to that he should've been a better player than he was, hopefully he's able to keep it up.
-
Spencer is not behind Gawn, because Gawn doesn't have the engine for a full game in the ruck.
-
That feedback would feel like a slap in the face. It seems to me he had two choices: to work his ring off to improve, or decide footy's not for him and chuck in the towel. Credit to him for taking the harder but more rewarding road.

Having Rockliff is a nice dream and probably equal with Tyson, but the difference is I doubt Brisbane would have coughed up their first rounder as part of the package. It's not just Tyson, but the receipt of Salem that makes this deal look so sweet; we'd most likely have missed out on that if we'd dealt with Brisbane.

Surely the subject of this thread is a contender for this honour as well?

Evans is contracted until the end of next year, I thought. That means he has time coming out the wazoo. With Spencer signing today, Strauss, Blease, Tapscott and Nicholson are all surely toast now unless a miracle happens. That would make 6 if added to Clark and presumably Byrnes, which is a lot; there is time enough for one of them to change my mind. I said in a previous thread that Barry may go, but I expect he'll be awarded one more year for additional time to prove his worth as we will have moved on more than enough players as it is.
-
I'm comfortable with the logic and therefore the decision. He and Jamar are currently the only players on our list capable of playing first ruck. I doubt he will play a lot of footy while Jamar is in the side, but he's adequate and necessary backup while others develop. It also feels like he's been on the list forever. Surprised me to see that he's only 24 - he's still really just a pup in ruckman years. It seems funny to still be thinking of a player like Jake in terms of potential, but he's big, strong, aggressive and committed. I reckon he's still got stacks of improvement left in him.

People thought I was joking when I said "this site is moderated?" last time you complained about the moderation around here, but I wasn't. There is currently not one moderator on the list who is online often enough to be effective. It's bloody hard to find people who are both capable of not getting too involved in the argy-bargy, *and* are present a lot; the two things tend to be mutually exclusive. Are you volunteering? The reason the 'g' word is censored is because it's used overwhelmingly in an abusive fashion. Same with the 'f' word (the one that ends in 'g'). I don't strictly agree with censoring every word that could be remotely imagined to be offensive, but that's how it is. For what it's worth, I doubt the angle you've taken on "gay" (I'm assuming my status will by-pass the filter?) had been considered before. I will draw it to Andy and Jack's attention.

Man, that's come about very fast. Congrats Tom!

Sounds like a big lead up to a nothing story. On Frawley, I'm still convinced he'll stay.

I don't think we should turn this thread in to a pissing contest about who backed Dunn last year and who didn't. I've deleted all the posts that attempted to turn this in to such a contest and will delete future posts as such as well.

Unsure what point you're trying to make. Presumably he signed so soon because he wanted to. Not all players want to 'hold out' for the best possible deal; some players land on a deal they're happy with early in the piece and just want to get it out of the way so they can concentrate on footy.
-
One more thing: if he manages to hold his form and fitness - and I see no reason why he couldn't given his age and the fact that he's hardly ever been injured - this contract should see him well on the way to 200 MFC games. It feels like an awfully long time since we've had one of those.
