  1. Indeed. It's of no consequence anyway, if the year finished tomorrow I'd declare their seasons a success, for a pair of 18 and 19 year old developing players.
  2. If last night's game is anything to go by, West Coast's delivery in to the forward line is second to none. Low, fast rockets all the time, impossible to defend I think. If I watched the game as a neutral and not a frustrated MFC supporter I'd have been very impressed.
  3. They're both best 22 at the moment. As long as 44 and 45 are still in the team, these two are certainties. It might get interesting as Kent, Salem, vandenBerg and JKH start working their way back in, but until then they're safe.
  4. If nothing else, this week has reminded me that life's too short to waste getting upset about footy. Can't be bothered kicking the cat tonight, going to go tell my family I love them instead as the boys pay their respects. Night all.
  5. Need another one for the records to be broken thread: Not get completely embarrassed by West Coast. I don't even ask for a win, just four complete shameless quarters.
  6. I don't think I've seen one MFC kick to Dawes or Hogan all season that matches half a dozen or so I've seen to Darling or Kennedy tonight alone. They're most certainly a class above.
  7. I agree, thought it was stiff. Not sure what else Dunn was meant to do.
  8. Jesus. This footy team.
  9. Can't say we're out of it, but we've also never looked like we're in it either. Weird game. Perhaps this is what it looks like when it busts a gut against a team it is a class below. Very envious of the way West Coast deliver it to their forwards. Low, fast rockets over and over. Almost undefendable.
  10. Genuinely surprised to see the comments claiming that Richmond were gifted the game by the umps. I watched the whole game and thought in general, the umps slaughtered them. It was a horrible game though. Both teams absolutely awful. Kind of befitting with the standard of the umpiring really.
  11. I'm amazed anyone's got the energy to give a rat's arse about Essendung today to be honest. It's a battle most of the time as it is.
  12. Great post. If they do opt to play, I'll watch with a tear of emotion and respect in my eye.
  13. Count the match that has been played as null and void and abandon the round. I'm sure Port and Sydney would understand.
  14. I have removed a number of inappropriate posts (and those that quote them). This is a very sensitive time (I for one am reeling still) - keeping the speculation out of it would be greatly appreciated. I've also adjusted the thread title.
  15. I feel sick. Awful story. I really feel for all involved.
  16. I know. Darn my penchant for spelling names correctly! I just find it disrespectful. This one seems to have irritated me more for some reason. I should know better; people have been getting players names wrong since the beginning. Getting the message: time to let it go.
  17. It's a Wednesday squad. Since squads aren't even released officially until Thursday evening, presumably it's just one someone completely made up. Someone who doesn't watch a heap of MFC, I'd say.
  18. Is he in the God Squad or the Party Squad?
  19. Heh. That's Nashor to you, thanks.
  20. Maybe we could start calling him Pedersen, just for a laugh?
  21. I don't know for sure as I can only comment on my own experience, but I theorise that people have always been willing to break the law when it suited them, it's just that historically this has been masked by the closer alignment of the laws and people's moral compasses. I don't think the disrespect is growing per se, just the divide between social progress and the law. Happy to agree to disagree - particularly on the matter of whether socially we are progressing or regressing.
  22. No - moral compasses have progressed, and the law has remained stationary. By effect, the two have naturally drifted apart. The idea of the law driving my moral compass is completely foreign to me. It just doesn't resonate with me at all. Maybe it's a Gen Y thing, though I bet people have been committing minor law infringements since there was such thing as laws. I don't reckon anyone could ever say they haven't done things that in the eyes of the law are illegal, and don't feel at all guilty about it. The law only deters me from doing things I probably wouldn't do anyway.
  23. Being told they're illegal doesn't seem to be helping much, either.
  24. It's probably a reflection that over time the law has drifted away from where people's moral compasses are naturally aligned, so they have stopped using it as a guideline for behaviour. It just hasn't kept up with social progress. I don't steal cars, bash people, drive recklessly or take drugs, and that is because I think that I shouldn't, not because they're illegal. Education in my case has proven to be a far more effective tool than the threat of being charged.
  25. You said that the threat of jail, or having a lead pellet shot through my chest, provide me with enough reasons to stay away from the very very available hard drugs that I come across here. Very cheap, available for home delivery, and very potent. The bullet in your chest might deter you, but clearly it's not much of a deterrent for the obviously large numbers consuming the very cheap, very potent hard stuff. For everyone in my social circles, the deterrent for not doing hard drugs (or any drugs) is the risk of getting addicted and ruining our lives. Nobody I know gives a rats tossbag if it's illegal - in my experience for most people who want to experiment or use infrequently, getting caught is an acceptable risk - getting hooked isn't. I can't imagine the risk of getting in trouble with the police ever outweighing the risk of having your life destroyed by an addiction. Try not to be so needlessly aggressive next time.
