  1. I hate these sorts of games. There's no avenue for satisfaction - we either win as expected as the opposition have the cue in the rack, or we somehow lose and suffer that embarrassment. Hope Hogan kicks 10, or something else happens that makes this dead rubber worth watching.
  2. Read the posts that came 5 and 6 before yours (Fidge and Macca). I had already come to the same conclusion: both internal and external pressure to push through it. I don't think any one player has been as resoundingly screwed over by this club as Jack Trengove. I hope he gets back, as much for personal reasons as footy ones.
  3. We'll all be really pissed off about it for at least a week In reality, we will not be any better or worse than we were prior to the match The sun will rise the next day
  4. In what way would you like him to "take responsibility"? Beyond acknowledging that the coaches need to step up, the only way senior management can truly "take responsibility" is to resign, otherwise it's just a platitude. The only alternative I can see is like how James Hird "took full responsibility" when this drug bizzo came out - i.e. he said a bunch of words that seemed to indicate he took full responsibility, then continued to go about his business as if nothing had happened.
  5. If it's the same as it has been in the past, the format of the voting favours players who play all or most games. I reckon Viney has missed too many to be a serious candidate. 1. Vince (missed 1 game) 2. Hogan (missed 2 games) 3. Jones (played all games) 4. McDonald (played all games) 5. Cross (played all games) or Dunn (played all games)
  6. Some players have still had good seasons and deserve to be rewarded for it. Not having a B&F would be a great way to harm team morale. You can raise the bar without being draconian about it.
  7. I tore a hamstring just looking at that kicking action. Wow.
  8. The only reason you'd be accused of being misogynistic or sexist base on that comment is because it is clearly both.
  9. Jesus wept. He's in the side. He knows he's in the side. We all know he's in the side. He'll play the game, in the seniors. There is no other message being sent. From reading the Plapp articles, the message he's getting is an encouraging one. Stop looking for gremlins that aren't there.
  10. How would you feel if Port Adelaide offered us Andrew Moore in a straight swap for Jack Watts? That's similar to what you've offered.
  11. Titus O'Reily: Henderson quits Carlton to try his hand in the AFL. Razor sharp.
  12. Forget about Kent, Lucifer. With three AFL games to go, one will be a half in the dev league, the second will be a full game in the dev league, to round out the season with a Casey seniors game. Might play finals for Casey if they do, but that's it.
  13. Can't believe what I'm seeing here. Ahh, Melbourne.
  14. Fair enough mate. I do share your grief.
  15. We're just as likely to see this very same group pluck a great performance out of their arse as we are having any of those changes improve the side. Ten changes or none, makes not a shred of difference to me. In: Tyson, Salem Out: Raffle it
  16. Sweating the small stuff, as they say. Not sure I've seen an alternative out there standing up and taking the game by the scruff.
  17. I'm sure that if Paul had thought of that we'd be playing heaps better.
  18. Cross handballs to Hogan's feet. Dawes and Jones collide going for the same ball. Every man for himself.
  19. You know Goodwin is in the same box right? Roos has the final say, but it takes a true team effort to be this poor.
  20. I can't help it. I don't know why. Masochistic tendencies?
  21. Current position for me is not much different to rpfc's: Delisted: Jamar, McKenzie, Fitzpatrick, Bail, Riley, Michie Signed: Garland, Howe, Toumpas, Pedersen, Cross, Hunt Promoted: Harmes Retained: King (third year rookie), White (second year rookie). Would consider keeping Riley or Michie depending on trade outcomes, final draft position etc. 5 players is enough to turn over IMO, and may be more if Howe or Garland walk/are pushed. I reckon Hunt has done just enough in recent weeks to move from "not shown enough" to "gets benefit of the doubt".
  22. With all due respect, this is classic MFCSS. The link between Dermie rating him and Hawthorn making a play is tenuous at best. I always thought Gawn would re-sign, purely because there was no reason why he wouldn't.
  23. I agree on the timeframe, but I have to confess I was surprised at the "flick of a switch" manner in which his improvement occurred. I remember a comment from one of the coaches (Plapp, perhaps?) that they were pretty worried about his early season form. He was immense against Geelong and hasn't looked back. It's been great to see.
