  1. You reckon? I'd sign the deal before Port came to their senses. I'll never understand why people would prefer draft picks over proven players. It's like choosing between $100,000 in cash or a Tattslotto ticket for me. Hartlett is a very good player, of a perfect age. I just can't believe there's any way he will be shaken from the tree, but if we manage it it would be an even bigger KOTD than getting Vince for the Sylvia compo.
  2. Genuinely sorry to see him go. He'd only been around two years but he feels to me to be ours, and I thought he had something to offer for another season at least. Not to be. All the best Crossy.
  3. Very early days, but injuries are a bit of a worry.
  4. It's worth pointing out that he was the youngest player on our list this year and indeed one of the youngest in the AFL. Is ahead of where I though he'd be. Really pleasing start. I reckon it's hard to see him not being a good player; he is already fit, skillful and mentally committed to playing a physical game when needed. I also thought he was pretty well managed. He probably wouldn't have played as much as he did if we were a better side, but wasn't required to carry a disproportionate amount of work for his experience, and didn't end up part of the revolving door squad when he did go through some quiet form. Definitely a positive for the year.
  5. I reckon you're way over-analysing it CHF. Without meaning to pan a bloke whose career has just been cut off, I'd say Fitzy has been delisted for more "traditional" reasons, and I've been surprised for quite some time about the amount of love he gets from MFC fans.
  6. Neither of these teams have a hope of beating West Coast next week. Zero doubt in my mind that the Eagles will play a grand final now. I'm enjoying the game though. North's pressure that quarter was good, should be heaps further in front though.
  7. Or they thought he offered more as part of a trade. That doesn't mean they thought he had little to offer us.
  8. I didn't forget it, old dee, it just had nothing whatsoever to do with my point, so I didn't say it.
  9. I can't see how Terlich could possibly survive. Only player on the senior list who was not injured who didn't get near the side. The only other non-injured players who didn't play at all were the projects Hunt and King. The coach clearly has no intention of playing him, so terminate the contract and free up the spot for a player who has a greater than 0% chance of getting selected. The cost of paying him is unavoidable, so don't worry about that at all.
  10. Thanks for your services Jordie and good luck.
  11. Footy's tough, but clubs have shown that if they think the player is good enough, they will wait a long time. See Daniel Menzel for an extreme example. Not suggesting Trengove is as good a player - just saying that in between "footy's tough" (Jamie Bennell being delisted after doing his ACL) and "as long as it takes" (Menzel), there are a range of possibilities. Trengove is at the point now where we've lost any opportunity for salvage value. Shares are at $0.01 and our losses already realized. There is only upside - there is nothing to lose by waiting and seeing what will happen. We always seem to have enough poor players to move on without needing to scrap players who could still make it. The club backed him with this new contract and I do too.
  12. I do understand where you're coming from.
  13. Did you miss reynolds46's post? Who doesn't love a good double entendre?
  14. Yeah! What would that buffoon Goodwin know if he likes Melksham? It's not like he's coached with him or worked closely with him for several years or anything. We fans clearly know more than that idiot and his terrible judgement.
  15. I'm sure it was a poor choice of words or possibly just paraphrasing, but gee I hate the sound of a player wanting "guaranteed" playing time. Guarantee your own playing time by busting a gut for it.
  16. Not just someone - best mate. If a random (consensually) slept with my wife, I'd blame her but not him. It's not up to a stranger to uphold or honour my marriage. If it were my best mate I'd apportion blame equally. It's a whole different kettle of fish. Even just thinking about that magnitude of betrayal makes me dizzy.
  17. I could be wrong, but it sounds as if Ames has gone on the trip with him. Nice to know the club is leaving no stone unturned in getting this right. I look forward to reading the rest of Petracca's diaries.
  18. Good for him. It's a tough gig getting in to roles like that without the profile as a player.
  19. I'd happily lie to a stranger in that situation if it put an immediate stop to a line of questioning, and was put on the spot. It might have been Colin's way of saying "I don't want to talk about it", but as the major introvert that he is, didn't think of the "flat bat" response first. It's something I can relate to.
  20. Not one player on our current list were even born then and neither was I. Too long ago to be relevant to any discussion on modern trends.
  21. Hi Kevin. You played 35 years ago.
  22. When was the last time a side won the flag having lost their qualifying final though? That extra week off makes a massive difference. I'm nowhere near as confident as you that they beat Freo in WA.
