  1. I didn't forget it, old dee, it just had nothing whatsoever to do with my point, so I didn't say it.
  2. I can't see how Terlich could possibly survive. Only player on the senior list who was not injured who didn't get near the side. The only other non-injured players who didn't play at all were the projects Hunt and King. The coach clearly has no intention of playing him, so terminate the contract and free up the spot for a player who has a greater than 0% chance of getting selected. The cost of paying him is unavoidable, so don't worry about that at all.
  3. Thanks for your services Jordie and good luck.
  4. Footy's tough, but clubs have shown that if they think the player is good enough, they will wait a long time. See Daniel Menzel for an extreme example. Not suggesting Trengove is as good a player - just saying that in between "footy's tough" (Jamie Bennell being delisted after doing his ACL) and "as long as it takes" (Menzel), there are a range of possibilities. Trengove is at the point now where we've lost any opportunity for salvage value. Shares are at $0.01 and our losses already realized. There is only upside - there is nothing to lose by waiting and seeing what will happen. We always seem to have enough poor players to move on without needing to scrap players who could still make it. The club backed him with this new contract and I do too.
  5. I do understand where you're coming from.
  6. Did you miss reynolds46's post? Who doesn't love a good double entendre?
  7. Yeah! What would that buffoon Goodwin know if he likes Melksham? It's not like he's coached with him or worked closely with him for several years or anything. We fans clearly know more than that idiot and his terrible judgement.
  8. I'm sure it was a poor choice of words or possibly just paraphrasing, but gee I hate the sound of a player wanting "guaranteed" playing time. Guarantee your own playing time by busting a gut for it.
  9. Not just someone - best mate. If a random (consensually) slept with my wife, I'd blame her but not him. It's not up to a stranger to uphold or honour my marriage. If it were my best mate I'd apportion blame equally. It's a whole different kettle of fish. Even just thinking about that magnitude of betrayal makes me dizzy.
  10. I could be wrong, but it sounds as if Ames has gone on the trip with him. Nice to know the club is leaving no stone unturned in getting this right. I look forward to reading the rest of Petracca's diaries.
  11. Good for him. It's a tough gig getting in to roles like that without the profile as a player.
  12. I'd happily lie to a stranger in that situation if it put an immediate stop to a line of questioning, and was put on the spot. It might have been Colin's way of saying "I don't want to talk about it", but as the major introvert that he is, didn't think of the "flat bat" response first. It's something I can relate to.
  13. Brain fart. Fixed, thanks.
  14. Not one player on our current list were even born then and neither was I. Too long ago to be relevant to any discussion on modern trends.
  15. Hi Kevin. You played 35 years ago.
  16. When was the last time a side won the flag having lost their qualifying final though? That extra week off makes a massive difference. I'm nowhere near as confident as you that they beat Freo in WA.
  17. I'm not normally the vindictive sort, but I would smirk if Frawley was dropped for Spangher.
  18. I don't think beating the very unconvincing North would make Richmond good. Both clubs equally likely to get near the flag this year I reckon.
  19. Hands up who's tired of talking about Jack Watts? *raises hand* I'd be surprised if anyone has anything to say on Watts that I haven't seen or read before, dozens of times. Not going to bother opening this thread again (possibly idle threat - I probably won't be able to help myself).
  20. I originally posted this in the Viney thread in response to Webber, but it probably belongs here instead: When thinking of a player whose attributes include: soft featured, smallish, classy ball user, you don't expect the next item to be: hard as a cat's head, but that's the case for Salem. As someone described him last weekend after that tackle on Cameron: the baby faced assassin.
  21. I watched the Swans game with my Swans supporting sister. I witnessed Heath Grundy take a strong contested mark on the wing, turn inboard and kick it towards a stationary teammate in the middle, and have it chopped off by a Freo players at full pace. I rarely get emotional during neutral games, but on that occasion I hit the arm of the couch and yelled "come on, Melbourne!"
  22. Well done Bernie Vince - a thoroughly deserved win. It's been a long time since we've had a "run with" player who is an offensive weapon unto his own - in fact, I can't think of one ever. At his best he's a ball accumulating beast - the only thing that differentiates him from the top class of midfielders in the competition is the ability to do it every week of the year I think. He definitely went up a gear and rediscovered the form that allowed him to win a B&F at Adelaide. I reckon the story of the night is Jack Viney though. It wasn't until I stopped and thought about it after the last match that at no stage did he really have a form slump throughout the year. Jones and Vince are ahead of him in the pure class stage, but no player delivered at a consistent level every week more than Viney. You'd think at 21 he's still got absolutely stacks of improvement left in him, too. I can't believe he came so close to pinching it after missing such a large chunk of the season with injury. An absolutely fantastic effort and a good reward for a good season.
  23. I don't overlook the fact that he stayed true to the club when every one of his best mates buggered off as soon as they were FAs. Didn't do much media, but always struck me as being articulate and intelligent. He would make a good coach I think. Thanks Russian. Good luck if you decide to try and kick on.
  24. Nice work. From that I take: Jones is delivering the ball to our forwards a disproportionately large amount of time compared to the other mids. Garlett had a sensational year, and adds far more to our forward line than just kicking goals Hogan also gets stuff all free kicks He is as big a threat in play/in contest as he is in the air
