Thanks for collecting all that info, I T.

Hope you don't mind - I've put all your data into a table to have a 'ready reckoner' so to speak.  I've not used the exact date as they rarely match up from year to year - so I've used month and week so comparisons will close enough.

Hope it helps posters/readers do easy comparisons of trends and where we are at.

In recent years there has been quite a leap in the lead up to Christmas (Xmas presents...and then another leap around the time of Family Day.  Hopefully this year we can add a few more leaps after winning some pre-season games and early rounds in 2017.

    45,000+ in 2017 is very doable:cool:

I think you will find that the leap in the pre-Christmas over the recent years is due to the advent of Direct Debit.

Riddle me this: Which player spreads both butter and his wings, yet remains ocean-bound?" The Riddler

The penguin has wings & is ocean bound. = Frank Gorshin, Burgiss Meredith & Caesar Romero

    What about Julie Newmar?

Something is still holding the Hibberd deal up IMO, otherwise it would have been done last week. I'm expecting something left field here

It will get done at the last minute. Essendon are waiting to find out what we have to trade when all the other deals are done, they will push for our second round pick, if we still have it, or accept next year's second round pick.

I thought we could providing we used 2 first round picks in a four year period, and given we used 2 in 2015 we should be fine to move that one on?

I don't trust the AFL, they make up rules on a whim. I would want it in writing from them that you can count a first round pick more than once in a year.

Can someone else work this jargon out?  Hurts my head.

Clause a is easy, you have to have played at least one VFL game.

Clauses b, c and d relate to the Development League and can be ignored.

Clauses e and f are only applicable if your AFL team is still playing; ours isn't.

Clause g is the only one that counts; you must have played at least one VFL game, Senior or Development, and not played more than 12 AFL games.

The most interesting point is g(j) which has been used several times in the past; the CEO of AFL Victoria can declare anybody eligible.

there was a show on sbs (or was it abc) recently where they discussed theories on dark matter and dark energy and a new extension to einstein's formula to cater for such. one wonders whether we know a lot of physics or an infinitesimally small amount. i'd back the latter, but we are running out of brainy-enough people to keep up, and that is saying something because some of these people are seriously smart.

I live by the mantra "The more you know, the more you know you don't know."

The Physics department at Melbourne Uni are overseeing the establishment of an underground laboratory at a gold mine in Stawell that will try to replicate the findings of an Italian study that found that we are surrounded by Dark Matter; it is effectively the return of the Ether.

and that's roughly what i quoted, john. never said you were totally wrong initially, just that you were close. initial comment was a little simplistic that's all :)

alas, my degree is only in pharmacology and biological genetics (don't ask why) but i did get a credit in 1st year physics

I recently attended a series of lectures to mark the 100 year anniversary of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. The new hot subject is Dark Matter. We should try to work that into a comment in this thread.

    close, but no cigar

The curvature in space is caused by the gravity well created by the blackhole. We cannot see a black hole, we can only infer its existence by the effect the well has on light as it passes beyond the event horizon.

BTW I have a degree in Nuclear Physics, this sort of stuff has always fascinated me.

    Dear FBH,

he didn't rate in the best except for The Age report and The Age has always been well regarded for their football reporting and they must have been impressed by his

speed, penetrating kicks and great decision making. He was ok last night but if he is our future CHB then God help us.

ps a blackhole is a big empty space just like your football knowledge you pathetic "try hard". Try having a kick of football sometime, you may learn something.

    Cheers, Troll.

A blackhole is not empty. It has so much matter that light cannot escape from it owing to the gravitational effect of the massive mass. They are called blackholes because we cannot see them.

  10. If Hogan doesn't come up, I would think that Pedersen would get the gig. If we are going to blood one of our newer frorwards, it would be Hulet; he has a more AFL ready body and has out-performed Weideman this season.

Not true. Vanders last year was promoted straight away.

We've had similar players to Viv who have been dropped back to the rookie list then delisted.

Fair enough, I had forgotten that. It would all depend on what they see as available at the end of the draft. They have to announce rookie upgrades before the draft.

  12. Wagner is a first year rookie. The club has shown in the past that, no matter how you perform, they keep you as a rookie for the full two years. This will move his upgrade into next year. Michie is also a first year rookie who would normally be retained but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was delisted.

White has run out of rookie options and a hard decision will have to be made. I will leave that up to the club.

King has shown glimpses but nothing to indicate that he will be retained.

Smith is in his own category; he will be retained.
