He's welcome to explore. That's it. Tracc is a very different situation from Oliver. Yes , Tracc wanted out last year.... and what colours did he wear in 25.. Spin Repeat

Gee... some of you are finally understanding negotiations. This isn't about faux [censored] contests... or pretend bravado. It's about knowing what you have, what you want , what you understand to be a fair trade and sticking fast to it. We have a player they want. Is as simple as that. No one's dancing in the shadows its very simple. Pay what's fair or he goes nowhere. GC have NO upper hand in this so dont treat them as though they do. Respect their position..but suggest they respect ours. I don't think Clarry could walk back in now and play for us. Thats gone. Tracc can. He may well want away in late 26.. but he would play 'properly ' for us in 26 if no deal is done. What you say to GC now is ... " thanks for the discussions but your offers are unacceptable" At this stage Christian will remain a valued member of the MFC and we look forward to his contribution to our forthcoming season. You're not bluffing, just stating the situation. Then walk away. If GC want Tracc... they WILL ante up. Melbourne has nothing to lose. GC...hmmm

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Exactly.. The confronting reality is not that we are doing what we are...it's that this is the preferred choice of action for whatever is the reality causing it.

There's also those things that run on ribbons of steel... Well ...there are. Some even stop across the road 🤷♂️

How badly do we want him back ? He's gone nowhere quite yet. How badly do we need him gone ??

Totally concur

We're ushering out 2 mids.. We need at least one back.. from somewhere. Picks only garner us some wet behind the ears kid(s) . I really dont thinks picks cuts the mustard .

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
He would have done a physical with us. He's probably reached his use by date at the filth but still handy for us. We'll see i guess 🤔🤷♂️

But in this instance thats a stance we can take. It's Traccs idea to go. We dont have to give him away. If the deal isn't to our liking...which we said at the outset then... yep.. walk away until they come to the party. No need to settle for seconds.... we've already said he WILL play for us unless a satisfactory deal is offered

Might be a little of both. My thinking is Dees weren't quite expecting THAT reaction.

Don't forget Plan A-fu We walk away. It's actually an option.....and one described at the very outset.

Farewell Christian Petracca
I don't What's more useful to the club.. It's classically.. a bird in the hand or two in the bush ??? Dees aren't taking two " could be/ might be " picks alone . We have Tracc... he goes NOWHERE without our blessing. Who knows ... he might like the new Melbourne 🤔🤷♂️

And it's only Friday... Lots of fun and games still to play out. Melbourne at start of trade week.... I don't believe it has , nor should change .. Overview Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb stated that while Christian Petracca is contracted for four more years, the club will only entertain a trade if it's in Melbourne's best interest . He has said they will only deal if a quality offer is made that will improve the club's future premiership prospects. It is understood that a potential deal with the Gold Coast Suns or Adelaide Crows would require the interested club to "pay up". Melbourne's stance: The club is adamant that Petracca will be a Demon next year unless a trade is agreed upon that benefits Melbourne significantly. Trade conditions: The club is looking for a "quality offer" that will improve the list, with list boss Tim Lamb stating, "If someone wants him, come and talk to us – and pay up". Potential suitors: Both Gold Coast and Adelaide are interested in Petracca, but the Demons want the Suns to get more involved in negotiations due to their stronger draft hand. Alternative: If a suitable trade is not reached, Petracca is expected to remain with the club and play out his four-year contract. Stay true Dees .

If you want to g tive GC leverage... stay at the table. Want to take away their power, leave. They think they are in control. They're not. Tracc might think.he can just walk, he can't. What you do is reset the 'discussions'. We actually DON'T need to do the trade. I'm not guessing how you negotiate. I've some experience. The first rule is to have a firm grasp of what you want and what you're prepared to offer. The second and only other rule is , stick very close to that or dont do a deal. Very important if you aren't doing the negotiations yourself make sure whoever is has a backbone.

What were they thinking... ?? Let's just ease the boat off the slip 😉 Ohhh... bugger.... someone saw us oops/not-oops 😉 (GC certainly weren't going to )

It is now ...imho.. a classic... lesser of two evils or the garnering of the greater opportunity. Do you forego the chance to recruit a certified gun, an epitome of a franchise-player to retain a good ( who could be great ) player ? Which is worse ? Losing Humphrey or losing Petracca ?? Now I chose the word lose specifically. The greatest motivator for the human.... is FEAR, not GAIN. We mortals do not like to lose out. GC will have a lot more explaining to do if they let Tracc slip than should they allow Humphrey to go-home for "reasons" The framework for the "sell", for the trade , is right there. All Bailey has to do is... Press....

Why ?? I won't boo him...but not likely to applaud the opposition either. Not just for the hell of it. I'm sure he won't be offended.
