  1. NormallyI wouldnt think so either... we probably hadnt expected Brayshaw to burst onto scene and own his place either...but he did I would think all things equal Weed would be coming into prominence in 17 save for two things possibly... We do need someone else down the front who can MARK...and Sam has put it out there he want to play1st's next season. So who knows.. If he gets fitness sorted.. we might see him...we might
  2. lol... Love the passion, and why not enjoy. Practicing my siphoning currently. Just the one posting would have sufficed btw I branded Weideman as Suss1 because he obviously comes aboard with a few questions about his niggling injuries. We've had a bad run ( npi ) with players coming into the club only to waylayed early. He obviously has prodigious talent and I certainly hope this translates into a long and rewarding career ( for all concerned ) I wish him well and success. I wish us that success. Cant wait for next years QB game
  3. Glad we got an Oliver ..eventually Looks the goods. Give him the time to get up to speed
  4. My only concern about Weideman ...and hence my giving him a suss1 monicker is his feet ( foot ) We've had such a bad run ( npi ) with such injuries. If the club after due dillgence has awarded him the all clear.. Well...welcome aboard son...Im sure your new play mate cant wait to wax the footy with you
  5. might have happened when we actually managed to wrangle 3 and 7 from 6. Options officially changed...just my guess
  6. My only question: Is he the Claytons Olliver....or the real thing ?
  7. Better before than after
  8. 10 effectively though 10th pick... 7 live
  9. oh ...nicely done there.. lets distract to a corner over there... really.. I , like other s were just discussing the merits of Curnow... can you do that too Whos jumping to a conclusion...Im stating an opinion. You really just dont like it Ben when anyone supports something you don;t get over it . So lets dispense with the straw...and back to Curnow. Yes he's 18...they often make silly decisions. He's in a position where he's being groomed to play footy at the highest level. He should have his wits about him, seems he's forgotten 50 % of them. Did you actually address my point ? No Recent drafts have been about recruiting kids with their heads firmly planted on their shoulders. Their disposition has been professional towards their immediate futures. They're swtiched on. Curnow strikes me as a bit of an idiot. That he does this..and gets done for it makes this reader/writer immediately start to think what other stupid things might he have done that he hasn't been caught for ? The Saints are already ruing taking Carlisle. Why would you knowingly do the same. Its about the person not his playing position. Too much of a reach for you ?
  10. recruiters just washed hands !!
  11. Im just mulling over who the club has drafted in recent years... The type...the character.. Curnow reminds me of...........no one...just saying
  12. what are your leanings ?
  13. why broadcast your intentions needlessly ? Remote ..but impossible ?
  14. I did think both Weed and CC would slide a bit from their lofty elevations...That was before this too. A lot of what will go to selections are how the lads interviewed and such. Be difficult for may scribes if any to be privy to that and at this end of things might just nudge one player forward and others along as it were. We only see from the outside and clubs are deciding with 'inside' knowledge. Whilst I think you do need to bank and build for rainy days Melbourne has no such luxury. If we are to maintain momentum and retain the interest of the list it has to get moving and very quickly. Players who will take that time to develop arent adding to the cake a great deal in the near future. Who ever comes will need to be dead keep on pushing for games next year. That doesnt mean to say they will get them , but they might, nor do we NEED them there , but it helps. Just as Gus said Im here let me at it...and made selecting him irresistible I think Parish could do similar... The effect of more ability in the guts will be a tonic for this team.
  15. really ?? just failed the no DH test id have thought !!
  16. No...nor would i but i might roll out a trojan horse as it were.Pick 3 is hiding in plain sight. Pick 7 ...hmm. I keep thinking about why we played shenanigans for 3. Has to be for someone whod be there at 3 but not 4 . Only one really fits....Parish.
  17. and what chance a player OUTSIDE of that six is taken ?
  18. iys just a question . I wonder though how often you would as compared buy a lemon ?
  19. yes...indeed but where my train of thought goes is as part of any risk minimising youd steer towards factors/elements/ 'knowns" that will hopefully provide a decent footballer. Whre , iimho you DONT go with early picks is to players where things are 'suss" . A classic recent case in point.. dare I say it Toumpas.. He had ability but big clouds re body being A1.. Why go there with early pick....its a crap shoot for sure then. Especially when better credentialed I.e able to walk run chew and kick footies all at same time were available. Here we have 'Weed" he might be a gem... he might be nobbled. Do you really play a trump against a low hand ? ( might need understanding of 500 or whist there lol ) 3 and 7 arent for dallying with
  20. So you agree its nature is speculative.. Id put it that taking two mids wouldnt be. And recruiters are paid to recruit...not gamble
  21. chances are he'll still grown a few more cm's...hes still young
  22. Theres a difference between understanding what a talent existed and what it might be. That's speculation. A problem for talls is often their early dominance in kiddie ball doesnt always continue as the opposition and such are more his size as they progress into adult footy. I have no doubt hes a talent Id be spending #3 on something a little more definite, same really for 7. But thats me. Will be interesting to see how the club uses these early selections. For a change our future doesnt DEPEND on them. It should help of course but no need to pin every hope on these kids. TGFT
  23. Nothing beats a good ol' chin wag emanating from religion to to facilitate the cream rising eh
  24. Fair comment. Makes picking him very early incredibly speculative..
