  1. Remember when 'Around the Grounds' actually meant going around the grounds? They fired through the scores of the other games in rapid fire succession.

I remember not being able to go to a Melbourne v Fitzroy game in probably about 1983. The only radio coverage of the game was on the racing station. So it was basically score updates inbetween the races from around the country. Talk about frustrating.

And how about the old Footy Record with the 'codes' for the other games scores on the scoreboard? Youd look up and see something like E is 10 goals up on F and youd be asking, 'Who is E and F?"

I remember all that. First thing i did when i got to a game was open the middle of the Record & work out the letters on the scoreboard.

Last Q, You would hear a roar in the crowd as a score got put up on the old scoreboards. Fantastic!

Yes How often in the 70's were melbourne games on 3UZ!!! & i hate Horse racing, so i would almost be ready to kill by half time!!

The Guys who commentated "The Winners" on ABC TV were great. Styled like soccer callers on BBC.

  2. Not sure he was a loose canon but he was and is only a good VFL player

Robbie Warnock has got bad feet, not good for a Tall Person at all, They will be Pi$$ed of with Warnock & CJ down at Judd Park right now!!

    Chased 'em hard too!

  3. Yes on Scully. Don't know about Trengrove but he's doing well in the SANFL.

    I believe so.

Scully will play just as many as a Rich this year IMO. He's that good.

Trengove will be ready, he's been playing for Sturt of late and playing well. Becoming accustomed to 'hard bodies' in at Senior level.

    Others may have different opinions.

Thanks Guys i saw a lot of WAFL games last year through work at the ABC, but we don't get the interstate Feeds this year.

Last year i watched Rich Nik Nat (freak Talent) & Taylor walker all evolve-was great. I can't hate 'em!!!

Our young must be that good & Better.....

  4. The reason Macca isn't list clogging this year, is because the kids are too young to play in the midfield, come next year, we'll want the Grimes, Morton's etc to be playing in the middle, Haselby would only prevent them from getting valuable experience. Furthermore, Scully and Trengove are ready made players, so presuming we draft them, Haselby would only be stealing their spots. No dice, I'm afraid.

Question i need answering as best as possible.

Are Scully & Trengove as "ready made" as Daniel Rich. I saw a lot of Rich on TV. I haven't seen the 2 Boys for this year, only go on what i read.

Are they Ready for senior AFL straight away??

  5. Not a fan of dwayne russels either, after saying that no one would notice if this great club was gone.

[Censored] [Censored] is what he is.

Also wich comentators do people actually like i no its off topic but not worth another thread.

Alot of people seem to bag out commentators but are there any actualy that are good?

Dwayne Loves Port Adelaide...enough said. Now there is a club that clearly should not have been admitted to the league. Don't get me started!!

I Hate the way the Modern Commentators Umpire the Game in there delivery. Call The Game, as you see it.

Can't Handle Rex at all. Anthony Hudson Needs a Fist in his Gob. Bruce is losing it and is now Boring.

Commetti is Good. Tim Lane is a Radio TV Commentator, i like him. Buckley Knows his stuff.

The Rest i put up with. I miss Mike Williamson & Bluey Adams.

  6. I hear that in their desperation for another tall forward, Geelong are giving us Ablett for Newton, and because it's plainly obvious that Sydney are in the market for a marque forward as well, they are giving us their first round draft pick for Trent Zomer.

    "More Tea Vicar?"

  7. Still trying to give this one some legs.........

I'd take Dangerfield and Adelaide's first pick (11?) for pick 2 (gives them Trengrove) which still leaves us with a tall forward option with our second pick.

I reckon deals like this might just happen this year, clubs know this is it for a while.

The Final Few hours of Trade Week are going to be MAD!

    The opposite of Last Year.

  8. i will get in first with this comment......we have enough of his type, one paced and not skillful enough :P

I know what you are saying, & i half Agree BUT, there have been a number of Derby's i watched when the shockers actually wanted to play hard. Haselby was the General in the middle a few times.

Bailey might sort him out..worth consideration is all i suggest.

Playing for Fremantle is not good for your long term career. I feel sorry for those kids, i really do.

  9. I agree he'd well and truely be worth a look. I know he's 28 but he'd help us start our climb up the ladder next year, possibly to as high as 10th! He'd also help take some of the pressure off Scully and Trengove.

Exactly, the way Ben Cousins is playing in the middle at Richmond. A senior Mentor in the heat of battle, even if its only for 12 months.

Young Kids can never learn to much.

We don't see too much of haselby over here, but i have seen a couple of crackers when he is "on."

    12 Month incentive contract MAX.

  10. I'll third that. Really love hearing that about Bailey. This club needs to regain it's passion, hardness, and uncomprimising ways if it is to succeed. Personally I think we're in safe hands.

Absolutely, & CJ certainly has not set the world on fire has he. Bailey knew CJ was a loose canon & he could afford to wave him goodbye.

Respect or leave the MFC....simple really

  11. Matt Maguire being sought by Carlton & Hawthorn

Daniel Kerr wants to play in Victoria

    Luke Ball possibly to Sydney

Paul Haselby looks destined for the PSD

    Aaron Sandilands mentioned with Hawthorn

Haven't heard any relating to Melbourne players or people wanting to be traded to Melbourne.

Dean Bailey just might put some discipline into Haselby, along with Scott West. Long Bow but he can play when he wants to

Worth consideration if the PSD Trough is thin.

  12. Is 2 years the new maximum that can be signed now?

I would have no hesitation signing both morton and grimes to 4 year deals.

Its going to make it hard in 2 years time when all these now young guys are coming out of contract all at the same time!!

Keeps them all on there toes & Flying. Those that Perform stay.

Good move by the club. Too many long contracts turn sour in this contact sport

The Team lists are not long enough for extended contracts.
