I certainly don’t disagree that we aren’t where we should be—and what the posted graph says to me is that we simply play to the level of our opponents rather than playing to a consistently high level, which is very frustrating.

But I feel like it’s kind of unfair to ignore any positives about where we are at/might be going, or to ignore some of the nuance and complexities of the players we’ve lost/gained.

Not having a go at you personally Cult, but there are very few Positives, considering what we achieved in ‘21.

Yes there are personal achievements and certain young players who have been fantastic, but on a Club level, our Football Department has dropped its bundle.

Do you honestly think The Filth, Jeeelong or Hawthorn would be talking positively if they were in our position?

    This thread is so perfect.

Someone tries to present some slightly positive concrete data which shows we’re not that far off it and even makes sure to include some nuance and they’re immediately shouted down.

We have won 6 games and lost 11. 13th on the ladder

We are nowhere near where we should be, i don’t care what stats can be regurgitated, how often have we won all the stats, but not the game, under the present Football Department.

The only Concrete Data i take any notice of is what Players we have lost compared to what we have traded in since 21

My god.. Blind Freddy could tell you our list is no where near the 2021 list.

And why has that been allowed to happen?

Why have we let very good players go and replaced with Casey Regulars?

Why do A Grade AFL Players not want to join this Club?

For reasons I would like to know and i wish more Members would be asking the same Questions

Why has our list been allowed to Plateau since 2021
??

This year has been a major disappointment, through the bad losses we have also seen a Couple of Superb Performances, so the Club is capable of Beating the Best.

Fitness and Attitudes are just not high enough, along with very poor list management

I was nervous about taking our whole family to the game yesterday. Especially as we were taking our youngest for the first time. It turns out they had a great time shouting things at the Roos and clapping for our plentiful goals. A highlight was definitely singing the song at the end with the older siblings. I'm so glad it was a win for that happy first memory and association with the MCG!

This is exactly why scoring efficiency is so important.

Kids want to see fast plays and Goals, on a regular basis. That’s the game.

Defending is important of course, but the Goals are remembered

The MFC simply must get the Forward connection and Forward Structure sorted by next season.

  5. Wins like yesterday are good for the Kids, the new Young Supporters

@dazzledavey36 being a case in point. Good Crowd, lots of colour and motion. He won’t forget it either.

I vividly remember the first Demons game i saw

Round 1 1971 v South Melbourne and we absolutely pumped them, after the Game i got taken into “The Rooms” and actually got to shake hands with players.

Met The Coach Ian Ridley, who wore the long Trench Coat, like Norm Smith. Great Memories for a 7 year old. Kids don’t forget

Tom Sparrow won’t forget it either

I sincerely disagree with your disparaging assessment of the Werribee river. It is one of the cleanest in the state, if you ever take the time to visit it. There are families of platypus near the zoo and the golf course and it is full af a number of fish species. This wouldn’t be the case if it was the shizen hole you seem to think it is. The treatment works which people seem to associate with Werribee are really closer to Little River, and are in fact world famous with bird watchers for the number of migratory species that can be seen there. I lived in Werribee for 10 years on the southern side near the race course and can sincerely say i never experienced the fabled stink.

I am sure it’s beautiful and pristine, today Happy, but i assure you when i was a young kid, Werribee was definitely living under a cloud of odour

Jesse Hogan - what could have been...

And Cadman beginning to fulfill his potential.

    Frightening duo.

The Club tried very hard to get Cadman, but it was impossible

Does play some part but the majority of kicking is skill. A lot of it you’re born with like Rankine, Dawson etc and the rest is junior coaching

Their skills in the first half before major fatigue was unbelievably good

I agree. But after Halftime is when the Burgess Training shines

Players can still execute to a high level without fatigue

It’s exactly what the MFC lack right now.

That 1-2% of extra Fitness we had as a list in ‘21

Adelaide are a serious chance at a Flag this year

    he’s fitness mate not kicking

Absolutely he’s fitness. Thus the good kicks in pressure situations

Playing beyond Fatigue and still nailing a kick, Mark or Handball

    That’s Fitness Dub

    I'd rate Goodys tenure as

    One great season - 2021

    One good season - 2018

    Three underperformed seasons - 2017, 2022-23

    Four bad seasons - 2019-20, 2024-25

Two seasons out of nine where we went above par is not a good strike rate (especially considering he wasn't coming in at the start of the rebuild like most coaches do).

Forever thankful for the flag but besides the 2021 season I don't think he's got the most out of this list.

That’s a very fair summation Dr.

Watching GWS game: i absolutely hate bad umpiring. A Geelong player gets the ball, tackled, drops it, play on. The caller says: he "dropped it but had no prior opportunity."

    WHAAAT???WTF????

And the amount of pure throwing that the umpires tolerate - not to mention that, without fail, EVERY free paid against a Geelong player is disputed, with no dissent penalty - just gives me the complete s...s.

Andrew Dillon: Do you know what a handball is??

    Throwing is incorrect disposal

These Suits should be put in jail for ruining the Game of Australian Rules Football

    Give me 5 minutes

Dropping out of two sets of finals without firing one due to poor kicking and aging fwds was bad enough.

Then eleven wins last year with still no improvement in the previous issues.

And this year will see even less wins with the same problems.

Definitely time for Goody to go and quite a few others including players.

We are tending down each year and on our way to a wooden spoon.

Bad enough to blow two years of double chances but what we have been serving up this year has been both sublime and atrocious.

Sadly mostly atrocious with our tallest forward averaging a hearty seven goals out of ten games with maybe a total of 17 for the year. Wth?

It’s not a very impressive CV is it. Hard Evidence shows we cannot go into next Season without Serious Renovations inside the Club
