WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
daisycutter replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
we are such a precious lot aren't we we have one of the worst lists ever in the history of the afl we have to turn over mega amount of players to improve the list where do posters think we are going to get all these "stars" we crave/insist on setting up impossibly high requirements lumumba will do me fine. he will improve the list immediately and so we move on with the slow process of rebuilding -
for you maybe

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
daisycutter replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
lol that's gold it's true they put a lot into him though (hundreds of times) -
i'm more inclined to the pagan egyptian judgement day when anubis gets his scales out and weighs one's heart to determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the realm of the dead

Putting aside HH for a moment (who could have been banned understandably for a 1000 reasons ) I think most posters would agree that houli was unfairly and offensively vilified and the vilificator deserves to be ejected from the stadium and possibly banned from afl games for a period of time The question remains though under what category was he vilified On further thought we don't really know unless the vilificator himself explains his "logic" all we know is he made reference to houli being a "terrorist" three options are possible racial vilification - stereotyping people of middle eastern origin as terrorists religious vilification - stereotyping muslims as terrorists machsy's "aesthetic" vilification - stereotyping people with a full beard as terrorists just saying
-
-
i think he may have expelled the vilificator from the temple of sport (mcg), just as he expelled the money changers from the temple accusing them of turning the temple into a den of thieves through their commercial activities. One hopes he and his disciples find time to visit afl house one day
-
the problem with xxxxx vilification is in the definition. it is just too vague and lends itself to political manipulation
-
well if you think racial stereotyping is aesthetic vilification and not racial vilification then go ahead but i suspect you were just trying to be smart
-
he wasn't religiously vilified according to reports. he was racially vilified he was referred to as a terrorist (presumably because of his middle east appearance and beard)
-
ok, i'll bite - what would jesus do in this case?
-
yeah but i don't believe anything anybody says these days nut all spin and snake oil
-
i'm comfortable with lumumba for clark we get a line breaking hbf which we have been screaming for we lose someone who a month ago we thought was gone anyway, and who would be a huge risk good win

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
daisycutter replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
not so sure red about that of course i couldn't rule out someone nominating him first round out of spite -
we are getting a little ot as i understand it houli was not religiously vilified i understand he was referenced in some wayb as a terrorist, which i take as racial vilification (ie middle eastern looking = terrorist) and of course it was totally unjustified
-
are you saying that vilification is never merited? you surprise me nut, i thought you were more liberal (minded)
-
appropriateness of religious vilification depends on whether it is directed at the individual or the organisation and of course whether there is any degree of merit in it and in the context

not just the honourable thing jaded but probably the most sensible thing for someone suffering depression i'm sure if was successful then mfc would take him off the rookie list and offer a good contract (or he could then test the waters elsewhere) if he puts money before his health he is playing russian roulette
-
yes od, tread carefully
-
When mitch retired he said that part of his anxiety was because he wasn't playing and helping the club whilst being paid good money, adding to the pressure on him If he now decides to put money at a higher priority to his health and goes to the highest bidder it seems to me he is again just putting himself into another pressure situation. melbourne's approach is a see how it goes, start as a rookie, get back to playing and good health then get a new contract, which seems a better approach putting his mental and physical health as a first priority. I'm dubious about claims of medical advice to jump into a new start environment especially if it is based on money.
