Love Hird's statement today. "I think the player's welfare is very important to us". He "thinks".

Sounds like the Essendon saga will end on Monday. I just hope they lose a couple of years of draft picks. If not the AFL are a joke.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Redleg replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
If all they cop is a fine and points this year, when they are going to lose all games from now anyway, with no loss of draft picks, that would be an unmitigated disgrace. This is the biggest scandal in AFL history, how could they not be sanctioned with something meaningful. Their season is already shot, so what is loss of points, nothing. That would be a joke. AFL rolling over to the big club again. -
One thing I know for sure. I have absolutely no idea who will be our next coach. The last 115 pages make it no clearer. Yes there is a shortlist of the names discussed. As to who it will be, beats me. I also feel confident in saying, that not one poster on this thread knows either. Everybody is just guessing.

I started something there. Meant to be a press conference now. Waiting with baited breath.

There should be plenty of humble pie around, as Essendon hasn't touched theirs.

Would imagine he has been told he will be delisted. Unless injured there seems no other explanation.

Can't see anyone arguing with you on that. -

Didn't think so. Perhaps I could be asked to sit on the next case involving us. -

They are, as long as they also obey established legal pinciples. -

Wonder if Bombers and Hird will ask her to stand aside because of conflict. She is also the head of Essendon Womens Group. -

Yes it can all be subpoenaed either directly or through what is known as Third Party Discovery. Failure can lead to contempt charges and even jail if wilful. -

Interesting mention on the show of rumoured suggested penalty by agreement was $2.5m fine, loss of two years draft picks, didn't specify which ones and 12 month suspension for Hird. Bombers and Hird knocked it back. I think that is pretty light, considering it is the worst scandal in the history of the game. They must now be looking at more, when they go down. -
Will see if it is suitable to most.

Exactly, when he says he knew, what he is now saying, back in February. He also said today on Watson's show, that he is now a paid consultant for Essendon. -
Your new avatar is much better.

AFL 360 seems determined to clear the Bombers. -

I was told yesterday that there is a lot to come on this from the ACC angle. They deal with crime. I was also told that players from other clubs were discussing the changing bodies of Essendon players over a pre season. They were stunned at the change in players in such a short time. -
Settle down.

Never. That would be sacrilege.

Happy to get that. Unbelievably some on here aren't.

I keep telling people this thread gives great advice on a range of subjects.

I think it was Footy Classified Monday where Hutchy said Roos was on $1.3m already, with all of his different jobs. He is on TV, a motivational speaker, a clomnist and does some lesser level coaching, that i know of. If that is true, he clearly doesn't need the money. If he is not 100% motivated to coach, end of story.

I am actually stunned at people who say they don't want an advantage or assistance. Clubs will do anything to win and be successful, even taking drugs, yet some on here say they don't want something that will help. Yes a PP or mini draft pick doesn't guarantee success, but it will help. It could be traded for 2 reasonable mids, for example. Has anyone heard the Pies refusing to play 18 games at the G and instead requesting to play some games in Canberra and Darwin. Unbelievable.
