  1. What beats the Hawks is relentless pressure and run. We had both saturday and won.
  2. Clearly every kid we have on the list is not going to make it, but this kid is improving, week by week. More physical development and game development, together with the confidence that regular games give, could see him become the player we all want him to be.
  3. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
  4. He has 4 attributes that are in demand, pace, disposal skill, work ethic and a footy brain.
  5. I would like to keep Dunn as insurance, because of his versatility, but I suppose for the right deal.
  6. You may be right, but personally I would keep him for another year. Not too many ruckmen are ready at 21.
  7. Agree. We need to keep Max King and give him another year to have a run at it. He needs more development, both physically and in his game. We now have the right program to do that. He is a 202 cm ruck/forward and we don't have too many of those and they are hard to find. Lets make sure this guy can or cannot make it before we make a decision on him. BTW, hello to all those who wanted Hunt and Watts gone at the end of last season.
  8. On that photo you would say Ollie has contributed to the head high, by bending his knees. If he stays upright, he gets hit int he chest. Anyway, lets all move on, we have 3 more games to win..
  9. Talk to Chip, Gunston, Lake, McEvoy, Burgoyne, Gibson, etc.
  10. Not that I care that much, but it is strange that a player who might play several very good games but each week has someone playing slightly better, could miss out. I recall a couple of weeks back that the winner had a reasonable game only, with about 18 possessions and one goal, whereas someone like Hunt can put in many better games than that, yet not get a nod, because that week someone may have played marginally better. It seems in other words that consistency is not rewarded.
  11. Pretty quiet on Demonland this weekend.
  12. There was one passage of play that was nothing short of brilliant. Last quarter on the hbf, members side of the ground, he went for the ball near the boundary, with Smith holding his right arm. Oliver bent down and picked up the ball with his left hand, on top of the ball, not scooping it, swung back getting his right arm free and handballed to a teammate and we were off to the forward line. I have never seen that done before, let alone by a kid in his first year. That was special as Bruce would say, no stuff it, it was extraordinary. His clearance work from stoppages is unbelievable. This kid is going to be one of our best.
  13. You forgot the Roos game and 6-7 goals from frees to the Roos and the ones we didn't get and then we lose by under a goal, to their full side, at a ground we had never played at before.
  14. BTW Derwayne, read this from the AFL website, A COMPOSED Dom Tyson slotted back-to-back goals to ice Melbourne's giant-killing win over Hawthorn, but was just content to play his part in the biggest victory of his career. In a performance that Demons coach Paul Roos lauded as "elite" by the midfielder, Tyson amassed 30 possessions (13 contested) and was particularly influential when the game was on the line. Salem also says Hi.

  16. I think many of us including myself, expect too much of this kid. He will be a great player and hopefully for us and for a long time. He is still young and I suspect is carrying a few niggles, of course not unlike others and that may be hampering a bit. He has had a good year as far as possessions and work rate, maybe not as good as we had hoped with goals and tackles. He has attitude, but that might be part of what makes him what he is. I saw him play a game against Essendon VFL side 2 years ago and declared then he was the closest thing to a young Carey I had seen. That led me to expect a lot from him. Probably unrealistically. Jesse will be a very good player and as we get better and other players have to be watched, he will get even better. I would just like to see his signature on a long contract with us, then the rest will take care of itself.
  17. Well, I have to say, I love Oliver.
  18. I wish someone would just cork Cyril's thigh hard.
  19. Looks the one, if we want to.
  20. BTW, can we tag Mitchell? If they want to win, that is the starting point. Tackling pressure is the next.
  21. I have spent the last two hours watching the athletes walk into the stadium in Rio and still they keep coming.
  22. Start looking for the slingshot.
  23. Tom needs to be re signed as a priority. To get a draft pick, which if used on a young player and not a trade, puts us years back, until the player, if good enough, is experienced and developed physically.
  24. It's not about whining, its about the other clubs deciding not to give the Hawks a free pass every year. If they are going to lose a star player, to try and persuade that player to go to a club other than the Hawks. It's actually about the other clubs trying to stop the monopoly of flags that has happened recently. No problems if you are against self help.
  25. If the clubs were really serious about catching up to the Hawks, they would stop clearing star players to them. Players could be directed, or persuaded, to go to other clubs, on the basis that the Hawks are the direct opposition to them winning a flag. When the Hawks lose their older brigade and are then stopped from getting T. Mitchell, Couch, Prestia, O'Meara etc, they will come back to the field. To me, that is the way to stop the Hawk flags continuing.
