  1. The two big differences with most contracted players in the Lewis case, are that he has given great service and that they are telling him this will be his last year with them. It is very hard to keep a player you are telling you don't want the following year.
  2. It is going to be hard to keep a bloke who has won 4 flags with the club, who wants to leave, after being told he will only get his last contract year with the club and won't be there after that. That would be untenable to keep a bloke in those circumstances.
  3. Wow, Hawks involved in half, 5 of the deals, completed so far.
  4. Think you might have a different opinion in 12 months.
  5. He is a short term proposition, 1-2 years and will deny us getting fresh blood into the list. He will also deny games to a young midfielder. An in principle agreement was for our 3 rd pick, before the Hawks Board overruled the FD. He is also outside our target age range. He would of course provide plenty of the buzz word, leadership. I am not really in favour of the deal, if it happens, but I understand why others including the FD are. Brian Lake just said he thinks he is gone as a Hawk.
  6. Can we change the thread title to "when".
  7. Thanks again for the personal insult. I won't retaliate.
  8. Answer, I don't know. Now your answer.
  9. I am not Mr Inside info. I know people on here hate it, if you allude to something and don't disclose it. You obviously know more than me though, as you said " The only players we have considered that weren't quick were known leaders, Rockliff is not that. " So who are the players you are talking about, that we have considered, that were quick or if not, known leaders, excluding Hibberd and Lewis? LOL PS. Do I need to put the LOL in brackets?
  10. We can agree to disagree on Rockliff. I think a lot of his problems were that he was a poor Captain. He could be just a player with us. Anyway it appears it won't happen. You are not quite correct, when you say we have only considered quick players or leaders.
  11. Me too. Sorry to harp on about this,as I now know we aren't interested in Rockliff, but to me he would be a great and cheap get. He is a somewhat unique type of player. Yes he has some behavioural issues, but I believe we could get buy in. However more importantly our FD disagree and they call the shots.
  12. Looks like from all reports, we have changed the deal slightly unless the 2016 pick was not specifically articulated. I was told 2nd round pick. I assumed this years' pick. We might have another deal in the pipeline and are tinkering with the Hibberd deal. Anyway it will be done as Bombers need it done.
  13. Which is what I was told was the deal. That came from a Bombers source as a done deal.
  14. He is a galf back flanker.
  15. The Australian reports that two Hawks players, including Billy Hartung, are likely to join the Lions for a second-round draft pick. When you see some of these trades you do start to wonder at the value some clubs put on players. Treloar went for 2 first rounders and Tom Mitchell for 14. McCarthy to Freo for a loss of 4 spots in first round, plus they get back 2 extra later picks. Makes you wonder is our 2nd rounder for Hibberd too high and are we angling for a later pick back, or simply to use next year's 2nd rounder.
  16. Well that is a lesson for anyone who want's to pass on a trade whisper, on the trade whisper thread, don't, unless Stuie thinks it is earth shattering.
  17. Stuie, it is not hard to see why you upset so many on here. The personal insult always goes down well doesn't it. Also you are never wrong, are you? Everyone else is. I tried to discuss a topic with you and you just resort to insults. Why bother? Read this slowly. I said the Mitchell scenario could hurt the club. The Lewis scenario came out of a similar conversation with the Coach. Are you following? When supporters including past players got angry with the Mitchell situation, that was something that was hurting the club. The Lewis situation, which was similar, caused a firestorm and Clarko had to put it to rest and only could, because Mitchell agreed to go.That also hurt the club. I said all along that the idea came from Clarko, but you wouldn't agree because you said Mitchell was happy about it. That has been confirmed by Mitchell himself, he just accepted it. Lewis did not. Therefore these actions caused problems for the Hawks and I don't even know how the other players feel about it, but it can't be denied that what i said was correct. I know you will not accept what I said even though most on here will. Feel free to argue about it, that is my last post on the issue, PS. I am glad we are not getting Lewis and for those that want trade gossip, we don't look like being interested in Rockliff, from what i have learned recently.
  18. Knew I would get both of you replying. Yes I know they are two different people, but the same conversation started it.
  19. Well Stuie and mo64, i said the Mitchell story could be terrible for the club and now with Lewis in the same boat, Barrett just said "that the Hawks are in crisis, after forcing Mitchell out of the club and now having done the same to Lewis. " Lewis is reportedly furious with Clarko and the Hawks and feels betrayed after his loyalty.
  20. And 31 a week later.
  21. He is the likely Captain in 2017. That would crown his career. One club player. Why leave?
