IMO Sam is about 6-8kgs of extra muscle from unleashing. He will be a good player for us and with Jesse and Trac will give us the forward line to build around. If Lever makes it to us, we are probably two fast, outside skilled mids, from being a very good side.

Then why would they list him as omitted?

Salem and Frost not listed with Casey. Are they injured? Why would you be " omitted " and not played at Casey to find form?

Actually the blokes dropped, had more footy and played better than Jeffy and Hunt for example. He also kept blokes in who got a lot of the footy but fumbled or turned it over, like Hibberd, Tyson and the skipper ( who was not going to be dropped on his first game back anyway). He also kept Pedersen in, who has gone backwards lately. It is a brave and smart, or foolish selection this week by the match committee.

If Gibbs goes to Crows at 29 before next season, I wonder what his value is. What worries me about that deal, is that Carlton will go for Lever themselves. I am told they are into Kelly up to their eyeballs.

Agree. I don't think Tigers are much but, on a closer look noticed their small forward line ( like GWS yesterday ) loaded with pace, couple of stars in the middle, ( like GWS who of course have more stars ) outside mids who can run and carry ( like GWS again who have more) and all of them have fair disposal. When Garlett and Hunt, our only 2 quicks, have 9 possessions between them, it goes part of the way to explaining the result. We need spread, with pace and good disposal, or we won't improve. End of story.

Fix our disposal and spread and we are a fair side if we bring effort to the contest.

Agree on Jones yesterday. I thought he was terrible. Yes it was his first game back and he got a lot of the ball, but I thought he should have worn a butcher's apron, as he butchered possession after possession. Stats can lie but you generally see what you see when watching a game. At one stage I think he had about 10 possessions with 8 of them turned over. He actually picked out Giants players it appeared. Of course he is better than that and more game time will get him back to the way we know he can play. However I think Tyson just simply has poor disposal, decision making and is to slow to react. To me he has always been that way and I fear he will remain that way. In today's game you need nearly elite disposal as a mid and he doesn't have it. I think we need to accept that we are not a great side yet and that we have deficiencies and they need to be worked on. There are some positives however. I thought we played poorly, yet bar about 12 minutes in the first quarter we matched the Giants on the scoreboard even though our ball handling was terrible. If our leaders had got the team to slowdown play during that 12 minutes we would still have been in the game. We also have a major problem in leaking goals late in quarters, that needs to be fixed. To me our failing is and has been poor disposal and lack of pace for a while now and that is what we need to fix

Don't know how it is arrived at but I have seen him play like all the rest of you and his disposal is terrible. He bleeds turnovers and many lead to opposition goals. He is a real liability to us. Just watch the first quarter of this week and last week. Nearly every possession is a turnover.

And we have so many champions in our side. I would rather 15 Stretch possessions than 30 Tyson ones. Tyson played a big part in Giants 6 turnover goals in first quarter.

Jeffrey has had 2 great weeks. Missed a goal from 5 metres that could have won game last week and 3 possies and no score today.

We also have the worst disposal in the league to go with that lack of pace. When you add no tackling and weak effort you have today.

Tyson couldn't hit a wall with a footy if he was in a locked room.

Has any side given up more goals late in a quarter than this dumb side.? We do it every week.

As Goodwin says it is a journey, trouble us we are at the start of it .

If we get Lever, then we can concentrate on other areas we are deficient in, such as another quick outside mid and a talented small forward.
