    Annoying, yes, unexpected, no. I'm not accepting - our list is atrocious with only 5 or 6 players having an upside. I agree with your last comment. Until we recruit players that want to compete, we're going to stay a laughing stock.

    Not sure what all the ranting is about?? Premiership contender vs the worst list in the AFL, with no midfield. 90 odd points was expected, wasn't it? I feel sorry for Straussy....he was beating Ballantyne.

    Fair enough. I'm just being realist, as I've seen quite a few 'rebuilds.' I want to see players sign on the dotted line before I get too excited. I am, however, excited by the potential coaching line up that may include Simpson, Ling and Lenny Hayes.

    Wow, take it easy P_Man....I was playing devil's advocate. Bryce Gibbs was named as best on a few radio stations, but I acknowledged McLean played well. Where did I say I didn't like him? Or mentioned his skill levels? Fyi, I'm neither here nor there with Robinson.

    I'm prepared to put up with Craig if I know Simpson has accepted and will take over eventually. A seamless transition.

    Correct. Matthew Lloyd on 3AW just reported that according to his 'Melbourne intellect' (whatever that may be) Neil Craig will get two years and Simpson will join the Club next year as senior assistant with a transition process in place.

    Regardless, though, his record was not good. They finished around 12th or 13th most years of his tenure. Hardly inspiring stuff.

    DO, so many posters have already said this, so I'm acknowledging those who have already written this......JW has to WANT to get this club out of its mire, its darkness. He's not a first year player any more, and, in his own way, HE has to stand up and lead, whatever that is for him. A collective mindset is needed here, sheer will of the group, communal efficacy to improve....a new coach won't put the footy on his boot or put on a shepherd for him or take the bump for him. The new coach will be the icing on the cake of a changed mindset.
