Cant see us winning. We need to dominate the clearances all day to come close, as Adelaides forward line v our backs looks one sided (Even ugly).
Another disappointing day coming up i reckon.

I am on record as not rating him all that highly early on. Seemed like the sort of bloke you would love to have a quiet beer with while having a BBQ in the back yard and watching the rug rats run around, but only a Meh player.
No real turn of speed to use up forward (if fact i thought he was fairly slow for a small fwd). I thought it smacked of desperation when the club rookied him and tried the whole "reinvention as a backman thing"
He turned it all around through a mountain of hard work and never-give-up attitude that a few other AFL players could take note of.
I got this one wrong.
Great signing.

I agree. I'm not taking the Crows lightly - while I am confident we are in with a shot, we can't forget that the Crows are playing some seriously good footy, and if we drop our guard for even 10 minutes it will make things very, very difficult. They can pile on goals very quickly if we give them the opportunity to do so.
Having said all that I still think we can roll them if the 'good' Melbourne turns up from the first bounce.
Nah, we'll be right......... Bernie said we have prepared for their best.

This is the first season in a very long time where I think we can, as supporters, go in to each week with the feeling that we CAN win - obviously this week we will need to be at our absolute best, but if we do that then we will beat the Crows on our home turf. Playing at anything less will make it difficult but we are most certainly in with a shot.
Yep, in with a shot. But we will need to play quite a bit better than we have been lately.

Yup, win this week and we are 7-7 after 14 rounds. Then we can dare to dream.
You are already dreaming if you think we will win this week.

Exactly. The creation of GCS and GWS and their excessive access to talent has robbed the rest of the competition. Except, we were down when they were and have managed to build from the draft too. But everyone else? Not so much.
I think a bunch of teams are going to fall off a cliff in the next 1-3 years. North, Hawthorn, Carlton, Essendon and Richmond at least. While the QLD teams are in dire strife over the next 3 years. And who knows about Collingwood.
I agree with just about all of that. I rate some of our kids very very highly, and we are perhaps only a couple of free agent/trades away from a great list. Sadly none of that makes me confident about the rest of this year.
When do we stop saying " maybe next year" ? Has been a problem for over a decade now.

My attitude is born from 10 years of utter junk and i am entitled to it.
We are still very overrated until we start bringing home the bacon regularly. Not 1 big upset per season against a contender, and a few wins against rubbish teams. Our credibility was shot when we let the Druggies beat us.
I say 2 wins, you say 4.
Lets compare notes at seasons end. (Hope you are right)

Rubbish. Total and utter rubbish. We've been in every contest this year - even last weekend, up until three quarter time, we were only 4 goals down. We are in with a shot in each game will play in the final 9 rounds, and this defeatist attitude above is well off the mark.
lol lets see what happens before you tell my opinion is rubbish. "in with a shot" last week you say? Rubbish. Total and utter rubbish. (to quote you ) Never looked like winning from the first quarter.
I personally dont think we are good enough to be considered near certainties against anyone but GC. At least 3 heavy losses ( 7 goals plus) amongst that lot i reckon. If we win only 1 or 2 more i would not be the least bit surprised. Look, you can knock yourself out with all the positive vibes you can muster, but until the end of the season my opinion is just as valid as yours. Give me a number of games you think we will win and we can compare come years end. For me its 2 tops
I will be very very happy if we win more than that ofc, and my prediction doesn't mean i HOPE we lose most of the remaining games, but i think we will as most seem to agree that young teams tire, and ours is the youngest of them all by a fair margin.
Get off the angry pills Wise, you will give yourself a heart attack.

Gold Coast is the only game i would dare to bet real money on us having a win.
We really havent done much this year to justify the optimism a lot of you are showing. We have improved for sure, but are still a very ordinary side coming from a disastrously low base.
Oh, and Freo will put us to the sword ( Hoping to convince Hogan that they are a better bet than MFC ), as will Geelong, WCE and possibly The Sainters (Etihad factor).
Would not be at all surprised if we finish on 7 or 8 wins.

Smashed in a game where we had a chance to prove beyond doubt that we have improved. Not just beaten.... we were flogged.
I feel that Roos is taking the heat for Goodwin by playing the team that is best for the future, and not just aiming for the maximum amount of wins this year. The down side to this approach is that it may well destroy the confidence of our kids, whilst also delaying by a year or 2 any chance we have of becoming a "Destination Club" as stated by Roos himself.
Without paying massive overs, what A-Grader would want to come to MFC when we still look years away from playing finals football against the contenders?
The only good team we have beaten this year is GWS, and that was game number 1. If we were playing them next week, who would bet against a 10 goal loss?
Sorry MFC, you are still a long way off the pace and not looking like making "mission possible" a safe bet.
Today was 2 steps back.

You wet the bed Jack?
Go dees.
Swans by 6 goals or so i think. Time we rolled another big name though, so its anyones guess.

Collingwood by 27.
Dees fans to say "stick a fork in us"
MFC player to state to media " we are really disappointed that we didnt come to play"
Roos to state "Look, we didnt get blown away like we used to"
Anyone at all from mfc to state "we get to bounce back next week and we will be preparing for their best"
Guess what im trying to say is that some of our habits are totally predictable. This is a game that we SHOULD win comfortably, but supporters will probably be split 50/50 as the trust in our team simply isnt there yet after so many false dawns.
Time to do the job Dees.

Happy for the guy, particularly as i thought he wasnt going to make it.
Shame it has to be in a game where we will get pumped.........
Damn his arms are HUGE now. Hope he smashes it.

If Dion declares us his destination i think when push comes to shove they'll take that deal, but won't be happy about it.
Agree Abe. Well, mostly.
If anything, accepting a first and second rounder for Dion (Considering our likely draft position) would be an easy decision to make as far as the Suns are concerned.
I would actually hope for something back tbh. Maybe their third rounder? He has to nominate us first, so i guess we just need to wait and see.
We need him more than he needs us, so if it takes a first and second rounder, ..... *shrug. (Pending RFC medical check)

But, ..................... we prepared for their best.................. didnt we?
Seriously worried about next week now. Had some faith we might at least make it a contest but after today im not so sure.
Further evidence of our need for Prestia (And Hurley) i would have thought.

Both Hurley or Prestia require a first rounder. We don't have one and nor do we necessarily want to trade one of our promising youngsters. Other than two second rounders which might not get it done, I'm interested to know how we think this can work.
Well, as i have suggested before... we get Hurley with one of the first rounders we get for Hogan, and Prestia with the other.
(Hogan is staying)

Last week i was confident, and predicted an 8 goal win... this week i expect a loss for some reason.... Port by 27 points.
Years of mistrust are hard to ignore i guess.
Go dees.

I think we will get Prestia, no idea what we can trade for him though without a first round pick.
One of the picks Freo give us for Hogan?

Today the team can take a step towards lifting the "Veil of negativity" and finally win a game we SHOULD win, and win easily.
Dees by 8 goals.

Dont believe these words actually came from the mouth of a player manager, without first fielding offers from other clubs.
“It was a very easy decision. My manager said ‘just go with it’ and I did.
Whoever the manager is, i wish he looked after all our guys.

Geez thats gotta be the worst Brisbane side since they were called the Bears.... Might have to rethink my prediction of an 8 goal win.
Yeah, we got this.
-
I must be either drunk, or that last 5mg of Oxycodone i took might have been more than my pain required, but for once i wouldnt be hitting the panic button after a loss.
Yeah we were beaten by 5 goals.... and i hate losing.... but anyone who thought we would win were drinking their bath water. The Dogs are a genuine threat for the main prize this year, and that loss wasn't as bad as it could (and only last year probably WOULD) have been.
Garland is my only out based on form, and with chooklotto rubbing out Jetta, that's the only 2 changes i would make. Yeah Pedo had a bad game, and so did Hunt (who, incidentally, i still have doubts over), but i reckon we can give them the benefit of the doubt, as well as back the other guys who were down this week to turn it around against Brisvegas. Surely most have earned it after the last few weeks.
Outs Garland and Jets (insert sadface as we will REALLY miss Jets)
Ins Dunn and ANB.
We will beat the Bears. Easily.... by something like 8 goals..................
There, i said it.

Geez 28 is a big number for Dunn. The others, while impressive, are not surprising.

This.
One day we eventually have to win a game against these guys, and with the enormous list of players they have missing, well........ we should win.
But ofc we probably wont. 6 Day break, team of kids, yada yada yada. NO MORE DAMN EXCUSES! A win is the only acceptable option this week.
I will even take a scrappy 1 point win in a low scoring slugfest.
The club would no doubt know how important late season wins against some decent opposition teams are to set us up for the off season trade and free agency circus, so if we dont come home with the chockies this weekend i reckon our chances of landing a big name go down the gurgler. Lose, and our confidence takes yet another hit, ,doubt creeps back in, and the team starts to focus on the possibility of repeating our disgusting finish to last year.
The time is now. Not next week, not next year, NOW. We simply must win this week..
