Here's the article from of all places, the HUN which through Robbo and Whateley has become the EFC's news sheet on AOD-9604 lately.Australian expert says not enough yet known on on anti-obesity drug Whateley, who I once admired greatly, has IMO stained his reputation over this with the manner in which he disingenuously promoted Garnham's story about the drug and his enquiries with ASADA and incorrectly interpreted it to mean that its S0 classification was irrelevant. The Age's investigative team has been all over Robbo and Whateley who would be best off going back to writing about Black Caviar rather than engaging in tabloid journalism.

I disagree. The penalty was imposed for poor governance and specifically not drug cheating. The offence was therefore not much different to Adelaide and Carlton cheating the salary cap or Melbourne joking with intent. Everyone knows that each of those offences are clearly designed to bring the game into disrepute and that's why in our case they rolled out the Gestapo to bully our people into submission to the point where I believe one witness confessed that he used to admire Benny Hill and that's why his comedy was so behind the times and lurid. We can't have our community exposed to these things and that's what resulted in CC being sent to purgatory. On the other hand, a far more powerful body than the Gestapo still awaits the Bombers. It's a big fish called WADA and its little helper ASADA is nutting out a report which will be no laughing matter when released. It might get Jack Trengove for dabbing some cream on his toe but only if someone can figure out what it was or wasn't. There's a suggestion that it might have contained nothing more devilish than Viagra because Jack's been running around like he's carrying a heavy load until lately. Anyway Redleg. Melbourne has nothing to worry about because Dr. Bate's prescriptions are apparently illegible. Essendon, on the other hand should prepare for some infraction notices on players and that's when the punishment gets tough.

Did anyone notice the size of Zaharakis' body when he kicked the winning goal on Saturday night? To think that he was recruited in the same draft as Sam Blease and both of them were skinny winger/flank types with lots of pace back in those days. Of course, Sammy was held back by the fact that he was still at school in his first year at the club and then he broke his leg but Zaharakis looks like he's now had about five pre seasons more than him. I've heard it said that Essendon players were able to train harder and recover better than other teams not receiving the help they were getting through their supplements regime. In this way, their kids could have gained the benefit of many pre seasons in quick time. Now if they embarked on the programme in order to get a competitive edge and they used substances and methods that are not approved under the world code to which the AFL subscribes, then the words "drug cheats" fit properly and they should be punished appropriately.

Not many did. Craig Cameron might not have had great success as a recruiter but he presented himself to the supporters and often attended functions outlining the reasons for those decisions. He was always prepared to speak to Demonland/Demonology functions and our combined sponsorships raised thousands for the club. All that stopped when Prendergast appeared on the scene. He was always too busy and I believe made himself available at the end of our final sponsorship year at a time that didn't really suit anybody and the whole thing folded. The crowning glory of his recruiting would have to be most of the early picks of the 2008 and 2009 drafts and then, once he received the flack flick from the club he stitched us up in the tanking inquest. Mark Neeld was certainly not the greatest coach in our club's history but we can thank this bloke for providing some of the material with which he worked.

It really depends on how you define "shafted". All players reach a time when they have to move or be moved on. James McDonald had reached that stage a few years ago at the age of 33. Problem was the situation was badly handled by the coach and the football department. Perhaps it was this that ultimately sowed the seeds of discontent that came to a head with 186. Robbo spoke at last night's Foundation Dinner and while he conceded he was upset when told it was the end for him, he recognised that the time had come. I don't think many of the above names were really "shafted" but some, like Moloney, played a part in their demise.

I'm being serious when I say it's more important for us to get the draft assistance by way of a mini draft or a priority pick which would give us two early picks and possibly a midfielder with experience than whether we end up with pick 2, 3 or 4. One of those picks should give us a quality young midfielder anyway and, in any event, we have no control over whether St. Kilda wins one or more games so it doesn't worry me. Sorry to be discussing football on this thread by the way.

Does it really matter? We could get some draft assistance at the end of the year but it's hardly likely to be a #1 PP with the AFL's primary protected species GWS finishing last. Whether we get pick 2, 3 or even 4 won't make a great deal of difference in this year's draft. And who knows? If we lose more games, there's nothing to stop someone with an agenda from going to Robbo at the Hun with a convoluted story about players being rested or played out of position and next thing you know, there's a double page spread alleging that it's all proof that the club committed crimes against humanity. Nothing suspicious about St. Kilda leaving Riewoldt and one or two others out of their side to play the Dockers a few weeks ago or the Doggies losing 10 in a row in a vain bid to finish with picks 3 & 4 in last year's draft. No, we must go all out to win every game because its mathematically possible for us to finish 11th and if Essendon and two others lose their points for some, as yet, undiscovered misdemeanor, we'll be seeing action in September.
