  1. Archie Perkins?? You want Another mr. average in our team?
  2. yes i believe he is an imposter. I think he goes out there hoping not to stuff it up rather than thinking how can i bust into this game and have an influence. he is an imposter because no one really notices this psychology in him. it's the kind of psychology of a Billings. While Chandler is better than Billings and has some good games, he only does enough to make the team forget that for the rest of the season he is taking up precious space in the team. he's not meant to be there.
  3. Diversity is not my interest per se. Redirecting the attention away from the MCC is.
  4. do you know what it is? It's allowing grass roots supporters to have a say at board summits and seminars, not just the MCC cobbers. (Honestly, the kinds of ridiculous questions they were asking Brad Green and co. at the seminar over the off-season - completely tone deaf, superficial, with the spite of any rich white man with too much time on his hands. If you want to find the through-line of Melbourne's miserable stagnancies, inertias, and under-performances, look at the MCC. Old money doesn't change, it isn't a fluid and adaptable receptacle for our team to draw from and relate with. It's alright if we're winning, but if we're losing it represents an opulent stone monument, culturally aloof and fatalistic. Believe it or not, it affects club, it affects player performance - because it affects culture. Ignore the MCC, obviously if you're a player or a coach, but particularly if you're CEO (as best you can) and play as a team and organisation persevering and playing on behalf of the grass-roots fans and working classes and the relevant cultural inputs therefrom. What allowed us free-flowing footy in 2021? ... we were on the road, playing in empty stands, and a finals campaign in WA. What's the common thread there? No miserable MCC fans. Forget the Norm Smith curse. Our curse is one of traditionalism, old money, frustrated old white men who all went to one of 5 Victorian schools. Let's be aware of ourselves as a club and what as supporters we are contributing to the team energy. We should all be clear about this: other fans think we're an unlikeable fan base. Let's just have a little awareness as to why. And rectify that a bit. Look at the Bulldogs supporters - calm, considerate, never mean-spirited or resentful on the whole. Similar are the Kangaroos and Saints. Bring in more diversity. Where's our Rainbow flag btw, cheersquad? Indigenous flag too?Love that Goodwin says we want to be a destination club for more indigenous players. More of that please. Thank you MCC old folks, you're good loyal supporters and all, but just take a back seat, and support with grace and positivity, or not at all. And stop groaning ffs, we know you're not getting any in the bedroom, but please. The players can hear you before they even pick up the footy! It's likely why JVR and Chandler can't! Just too much pressure, too much expectation (actually, that IS one of the criticisms I've heard other team's supporters voice about us) So in summary, if you want change do your part, invite an MCC dees fan to the Southern Stand - disperse the dogma, air out the rot.
  5. I don’t know him personally. But when I first called out the issue with Chandler as this ‘commander’ while being a player of average ability and panic tendency in big games, no one listened to me. My frustration comes from zero people listening to me. Because I look at football as energetics. For example if max setting a bad example or playing for free kicks that kind of attitude gets imitated by other players and brings the standard down. Thats why if Chandler is in this team I am adamant that he needs to shut up and focus on his game rather than communicate excessively or make melodramatic facial expressions (which is a sign of a volatile player anyway). We need an honest and solid player in that position. I don’t know where melbourne gets these average Carlton like players with melodrama in their expression but it is way more detrimental to a game than people like to think. Energy is everything. We were not far off it this year. Not far at all. And that’s what pisses me off. Because while everyone is calling out our best players, I say no it’s our lower tier who need to be bringing the goods because it takes the attention off the best players who can then elevate their level without so much pressure. I just see the game differently. I think we carry Chandler through games and I think the player in his position needs to be carrying the team. They don’t have to be brilliant like petracca, but they have to know humility and consistency and when to shut their mouth and do something. You would have noticed a lot of our season has been all talk. Chandler doesn’t help that cause by any means. He makes it chatty out there in the field. You might think he has a calming effect but I think it’s both distracting and deflating. He’s the only player in the team who has assumed a role of seniority from almost the day he started without ever proving himself to be really integral , he faked his way there by kicking a few nice goals that fans gobble up. We have enough nice goal kickers. The ‘Chandler position’ IS a key reason we’ve lost so many games this year. He is a deer in the headlights, he can’t stick a tackle, and now he’s being absent minded in zoning and leaving free players . It’s all because he plays with a fabricated belief in his ability to be there, he has disguised it well. But he simple doesn’t belong if we’re going to go further up the ladder. But you know what, as I’m saying this , I actually know that it’s too late and I should have provided this intel to the club 2 years ago because he has been a serial non-contributor bar the 2 or 3 games (which all happen to occur when the rest of the team is down - it’s like he makes his case somehow when he can be sen by the coach because the team is down.. but when we’re humming he has had very little to do with it and he has actually bugged a lot of plays).
  6. mate, i'm gonna start a thread on why Chandler has been detrimental for team balance - it is basically summarised in the following: He came in three years ago after the premiership and started remonstrating and commanding players in the forward line but the bottom line of his football is panicky and hungry for 'approval' rather than hungry for 'acceptance', subtle but major difference. It is my contention that his attitude of seeking approval and at the same time remonstrating and ordering teammates on-field and being a self-appointed mainstay of this melbourne team (which Goody and supporters have bought because we don't really have another option there unless we reshuffle players which takes creativity - which Goodwin is not really capable of), this attitude of Chandler brought our '21 mindset down to a more average level. Footy team synergy is like dominoes/chinese whispers and Chandler has been a total bug in the system. Yes he has improved, but his manner is still kind of repulsive in that it is clear, unlike a Bowey or a Mcvee, that he is in the caper of 'disguising' his averageness on gameday by finding someone and something to point at. Look closer and you will figure it out. He is an imposter that has messed with this groups honesty. I'm allowed to have a [censored] opinion. I'm a philosophy major and I read books on behavioural psychology like Chase Hughes. It only takes one average attitude player elevated to a level of 'leadership' to really bug the whole team (it's a game of inches, barely perceptible, unless you can read energetics). oh and [censored] U
  7. Add Chandler to the no man's land
  8. glad others get that Windsor is a winger. all i want to see in the loss this week is no melodramatic expressions when goals are kicked against or when we stuff up plays. just get tf on with it please (trac, may, chandler are the most culpable of extraneous melodrama in the facial region). Trac because he's weighed down by his stardom, May because he knows that he could have done better, and Chandler because he is insecure against good teams and plays like an imposter in the team (no supporters agree with me i'm aware they love Chin idk why) at the best of times...gesticulating to his teammates and even remonstrating them as if he knows better, while he himself just isn't relevant for 80% game. Chandler is no 'leader', sorry to break it to those who think he should be up there in the B and F. No more melodrama. Play to your ability please and keep the facial expressions to a minimum. Bowey is not melodrama, Bowey is appropriate level drama because he cares, with honesty and selflessness.
  9. Watched Goody on 360 Cardboard expression - can't see the players responding to his expression. The particularity/nuance is missing in our game this year, because the particularity/nuance is missing in Goodwin Therefore players glean generalities from him, and nuance is not imparted. [censored] I wish footy people were educated, refined and responsive to nuance as human beings. Well actually...Macrae is. And Pies on top Goody....It's time to go.
  10. it's also not that Chandler is that bad, but that the position he occupies is vital to success - Neal Bullen is Adelaide's most effective kick inside 50 this year. Does that give some explanation as to why we're not winning games this year? Our best are Pickett and Melksham. You would want Chandler for the position he occupies to be up there with them, and I'm quite sure he is not. Once again, Kade looks the goods, huffs and puffs, does some nice 1 percenters, pressure generally pretty good (though not what Neal Bullen's was) but is ineffective going inside 50, no better that Oliver or Petracca. And that is the kick we should be paying players for. Oliver and Trac get paid for other aspects of their game too, including '[censored] you i'm the boss' attitude, which Chandler does not have. And he doesn't need to. But his short kick game needs to be impeccable inside 50. And it's not that.
  11. it sounds ridiculous, but someone with an intent that is true and not flighty. an intent that is unquestionable, like Neal Bullen. We lost a good one. I don't know who to bring in during the trade but someone like that, honest, humble, quiet, effective (even like another Spargo) The temperament is what counts in my opinion, to bolster the stars in our team. Footy, is about mind and how players integrate into a shared vision. I always felt that Chandler's temperament meddled with what we had. It was sort of a 'it's not my fault' sort of mentality. Hard to detect, but definitely there with Chandler - i see that with a lot of carlton players too. They can turn it on but often their collective psychology lets them down. You couldn't question our collective psychology for a few years there. But I felt the turning point for bad habits came in when Chandler was given a spot. It's tricky to explain, but I definitely have a very clear and certain belief about it. Call me crazy
  12. But Pickett 'is' the future of our current team. And the lad wasne there in March. Instead it was the billings and hendo brigade. Fair difference that
  13. I rewatched the round 3 match today. First Qtr we could have been in front but for poor entries. Second Qtr they won territory but we had shots and missed (Fritsch has since found his kicking boots again though) Third Qtr they had a period of 10 min where everything went their way. But again all we were lacking was the forward connection Fourth Qtr - the queue went in the rack for us. Bottom line is: if we clean up entries and kick through the big sticks I think we beat them this week because they are in a slump and will be feeling the pressure to prove themselves, and that's still a big perceived hurdle for them and we have no reason not to have fire in the belly, pure rage that we embarrassed ourselves so hard when we last played them (that is if we have any dignity as a team... which i think has been a feature of our performances after round 5 , to give us credit) not to mention we didnt have Pickett , Mcvee, Lever or Leb last time 🤫, and playing were Billings, AJ, Hendo and Howes
  14. And on the 'Chandler' role.... Absolutely - and with a Bergman, we could finally drop Chandler - the guy has been tasked with a job that is beyond him. Has a few good games a year and then drops back to VFL standards - doesnt impact enough contests. That position that he plays linking is sooooo important - not for the uncontested possessions but for the smart work around the contest (like Neal-Bullen). The idea that Chandler is a mainstay in this team HAS TO END. He is an ad-hoc replacement for Neal-Bullen. He has some lovely highlights with proud and honourable efforts, but Dees fans have to stop fangirling over players that do not bolster our top echalon (Pickett, Petracca even Fritsch) with seriously solid consistent contribution, smart ball use, and powerful 1v1 wins forward of centre.
  15. Absolutely. Chandler has to go - he is the kind of player that kids you into thinking he's valuable (and many dees supporters fall for that), but Collingwood would never pick up someone like Kade Chandler - he "tries" but doesn't "do" or "create" or "stay in the game" Please god get rid of Chandler - the role he plays running is so important and was done incredibly well by Neal-Bullen, and we've just replaced him with Chandler ad-hoc, but we can do so much better - it's such a critical position to connect with fowards and stay in the game. Sparrow has done it much more effectively this year. Hashtag - the Chandler delusion has to end. Sorry Chin fans, please ask yourself what you really value about him. Don't be fooled by his "trying" and "battling". Neal Bullen was a "battler" but he was a far more balanced, potent and contributing player. Please for the love of God Chin fans, have a hard look at yourselves before you murder this post with your fraternal Chin wagging
  16. Finally at least someone agrees with me about Chandler - [censored] irrelevant player. Rivers is the one there you’ve been unfair on - he is constantly being thrown around and doesn’t have consistency - goodwins fault (for playing Viney last week)
  17. Somehow the coach is not enabling his players to be selfless, and not enabling them to play with a unified spirit and to lower the eyes etc. He might 'say', "be selfless, be unified, lower the eyes" but his words are not being received and implemented. This can only mean that he doesn't have the coaching aptitude to actually determine where and how that message is being muted on its way to the players. Because for instance, as anyone knows, simply 'saying' "do this", doesn't always translate even in a work environment if there are particular subliminal messages or let's say unspoken codes of ethic and sociality that are unclear, misaligned, uninspired, or disenchanted. These are the reasons that Goodwin must leave. And let it be known, I predicted this outcome when he signed that extension contract two years ago. There was no doubt in my mind that Simon Goodwin's capacity to hold the variables of group-science, the intricacies in psycho-sphere of an ensemble of young men, was limited, myopic, and parish-pump. He's a good Christian lad, but he ain't got much osmotic facility for the new, the adventurous, the progressive. And I dare say that would be symptomatic of his general life philosophy. You gotta be up with all strains of life, and have a quick reflex to many social inputs in a group. You've got to heed the natural growth of the group. You've gotta be worldly. He is parochial. He has tried honourably this season, but it's too little too late. And like I said I'm not surprised. Just disappointed we have 1 flag in an era of star players.
  18. Why so keen on Jackson? He's good, but I'd prefer McVee, and I believe JVR is going to be epically good at some point. Who cares about Jackson. Don't throw out the team mix we have now. Jackson left us. We shouldn't beg steal and borrow to get him.
  19. i'm a perceptive supporter not a 'die hard' because why would i die hard when they persisted with Goodwin when it was clear that he was not allowing the best of our players. we recruited Nate Jones of all people to coach, with no coaching credentials, purely on sentiment, and we arguably did the same with Brad Green. When we had Roffey who was a great President because she offered something different. Green and Jones are Fanboys and they are not football intellects wide-armed person people (as Roffey was). I don't wish to pile [censored] on Melbourne, but I'm trying to have a perceptive and critical discussion about it. Unfortunately for you I have developed a soft spot for Collingwood because even though many of they're supporters are horrible, the club has a spirit that wouldn't allow pure sentiment to cloud their vision for their prosperity and the welfare of the players. That being said, my line of reasoning is much more caring to our players than supporters who just say "great we have Nate Jones coaching and Goodwin still there, fantastic!" without seeing how catastrophic this has been for the welfare and prosperity of kids like Petracca and the younger echelon of Rivers etc. who are trying to live full and unhindered footballing careers You Go Away, youve probably got no guts to stand up for what this club needs.
  20. i have family who go for collingwood. melbourne supporters, which i am one, are constantly on the whinge wagon. Brayshaw retired from 'consecutive' hits to the head, Maynard being the last of them. It was a reckless act, not intentional, he should have been suspended at least for 1 or 2 matches. But apart from that, you've got to move on. Nathan Murphy also retired from concussion and he's still getting around the team at Collingwood with a role at the club.
  21. I hope we get smashed and say bye to Goodwin and jones. If anyone remembers the kind of commentary Nate jones made on channel 7, that should have been enough evidence for him not to get the job. Very basic, very gross and un-nuanced. Club absolute shambles. Game gone so far past Goodwin. for the sake of the future of this club, please for the love of god lose by 10 goals tonight. Otherwise it’s just delayed pain as Goodwin and jones take us to nowhere land for another 3 years I’ve been trying out the sound of ‘go pies’ just out of sheer self-respect
  22. Agree, never liked the addition of Jones, too familial, not dispassionate enough. Horrible decisions the club has made with he and Green. Roffey, a female touch who was a receptacle for team values snubbed. Green focusses on his 'stars' - team doomed
  23. every human in any role has a belief that they can achieve success, otherwise they wouldn't be there. he would not suddenly abandon his self-determination after a bad streak- because what we understand as a catastrophic streak is only relative to him. It's not up to him to stand down, but certainly he could ask what the club thinks is best and then talk it through
  24. Green is a club fanboy, he is as guilty as any of feeding the players egos. We need people who are discompassionate and stand for TEAM values. Kate Roffey was way better in that regard. It's hard to imagine how an organisation could make a swap like that when 1. they don't trade their star players and go all in on a successful 2025, and 2. at the same time bring in an interim CEO which spells transitional phase, who happens also to be a rather choleric fanboy
