People are afraid that we might lose someone for nothing when the truth is the compo pick might be just as good or better than what you'd get in a trade. The other thing is that they think we'll always be able to get the value of the player at their best. Who honestly saw Oliver's value plummeting when he signed his deal? I'm sure some happy clapper will be ready to launch at anyone suggesting we trade one of these guys, just wait.
