  1. Just to add to that comment about us missing Ginnivan...Wasn't it the start of '24 we let James Jordan and James Harmes go, missed Ginnivan and took Billings. How did that all work out, eh?
  2. I think Kozzie in the midfield has been big reason why we've been winning.. He's lightning fast bringing pressure to the contest and so the game perks up bringing fast early forward 50 entries and so, more space for forwards. With Chanlder firing and Spargo pressure maybe speedy Sharp as crumbers with Sparrow as pressure and Fritsch..there as mid/ semi tall, I reckon as much Kozzie as a mid makes us a better team. I just hope JVR doesn't gum up the works...maybe instructed to bring it to ground..at least he takes one defender out of the game at this stage. I was hoping JVR would be a Jonathan Brown type of CHF...can't see it yet...maybe later, but needs to impose himself on the game..not doing that yet Danger payers Newcombe I like the idea of tagging the No1 mid..seems to have worked well so far....when youre on a good thing, stick to it, and Watson...someone needs to wear Watson like a glove...Maybe MacVee...and get him into the game after his layoff I like Ginnivan. Don't know why we didn't pick him up...Has X factor..always kicks a few. Watch him make space...!!
  3. If I were delivering inside 50 I reckon I'd be looking to the bench this week!!
  4. Melksham's delivery is almost perfect.Footy smarts and experience. Must be played whenever fit...Boohoo to those who wrote him off and said no Fritta and he in the same team.. Both showed their class tonight..Fritta should have had 3..coming back from childbirth...needs consideration understanding footy isn't everything Kolt doesn't go missing ..he's always there but just not clean..I had him dropped....maybe a couple more chances...but not a walkup selection yet. Turner is a Real asset ...both back and forward. Should be played consistently.. I have always said this. Great Mark!! And good ground game!! Sharp deserves to be played again..Boohoo to those who canned him... Spargo works well..is improving by the week considering his extended lay-off and Achilles is a serious injury..and his was complicated..his tackle and subsequent goal..was inspirational even though the game was over... Kozzie playing extended time in.mids works well and running forward freely suits his game.He gets the team moving forward and keeps it going Chandler having a breakout year. Viney as Tagger....keep it up..Who's no 1 mid at Hawthorn? Langton working back to running game of '21..great stuff Lindsey, Langford and Windsor...just make me feel good with ball in hand... Rivers back to form...keep running ...still reckon.hes best running off hald back Bowey and Salem..both good games May....hmmm?...slowing down..still serviceable but we need to find a successor...maybe JVR could play back in the twos and let him play behind the ball McVee..taking time to warm back up...keep him in Sparrow working with pressure even if not stacking stat's And TMac, Max and Trac...always!!! GREAT TEAM EFFORT..with a rested Clarrie to return Maybe JVR to replace concussed Petty but I like the smallish forward set up.. more agile and chaotic. Melksham possible suspension Problems for selection committee. BRING ON THE HAWKS!!!
  5. Perhaps, but you can't train dogs to meow. He lacks the poise, balance and agility required of a FF or CHF...Could he play back ?Maybe but is he fast enough to track a natural forward...with poise balance and agility? Moore went back after failing as a forward but he has similar athleticism to that of his father. Maybe JVR could be a second tall back. A spoiler and learn from TMac. Does he read the play well enough to intercept like Lever? I think they need to look elsewhere for a Key forward..or try Turner for a period..
  6. I have always thought Turner is a killer!! I like him forward ..great lead, solid mark and accurate set shot..Way better than JVR in terms of footy smarts... Leave for the year to build his game, sense of belonging and confidence.
  7. Don't think Ruvers is an inside mid at all ...at best outside mid where he can run and carry and kick long..Viney better inside mid for Oliver which leaves Rivers to run with Reid and come off him
  8. Lol!! True..!! Not here to win friends, but rather, Games!!!
  9. I wrote about it previously...I don't like it!!! If he got the ball 14+ times a match I might accept it and someone might want to kiss him . Until then he needs to focus on why he's there IN THE FORWARD LINE... i.e. SEE BALL , GET BALL!!! He's an OUT for mine until he really turns it on in the twos...the whole cult figure thing is BS!!
  10. Think they got that right. A choice choice!! The forward line has functioned much better without him and we've won two on the trot. He's lumbering and not agile. Forwards must be agile...or dominant marks or both. He's overrated.. Accurate yes,but useless at ground level and recovering from missed marks. Been carried for too long...Looking like Weideman Mark 2 for mine. Danger game!! Again, Reid and Waterman the killers!!
  11. Must neutralise Waterman He an Reid killed us last year. Viney to Reid I worry about May these days. Gets injured Slowing down Think he's done...
  12. Can't believe some of the criteria here for selection.. They play better at their home town!! His enthusiasm spurs others on!! We need to get games into him!! We could play him there to boost his confidence!! How about every child wins a prize? How about more DEI? How about he has great hair? How about form??
  13. JVR is still being selected on potential, not form. We had a look at a functioning forward line the last two games and won them with him after five losses with him.Seems like in those figures, he is not in out best 22...yet...potentially, maybe when he proves consistency and can rip a game apart...TheRichmond two are not exactly a good measuring-stick. The Cat Magpies of Lions twos might be a better one.
  14. Goody said Selection is based on form.. Kolt, Fullarton back to reserves to get form..like rip a game to bits. When Sparrow went to the twos last year , that's exactly what he did. Turner in ahead of JVR who has been carried for a long time...needs to prove he can be consistent before returning Melksham just for experience and proven footy smarts Not keen on the Kissing Kolt...I'd be telling him See ball, Get ball then think about the celebrations.. Can't help thinking he's over-hyping himself as compensation for not Getting the b@#$ing ball like Lindsey, who is correctly understated.
  15. Sorry, Left Turner out of line up..He's in for Jefferson Sorry, Left Turner out. He's in on the bench for Jefferson, rotating backs and forwards BTW. What's with Jefferson's hand? It'll be 5-6 weeks by next Sunday. Omitted from last injury list.
  16. Sharp had 4 in the last quarter by comparison FWIW. In my team Fritsch stays FF, Petty CHF JVR needs to get goals or assist from general play before returning. Set shots in reserves not enough to warrant return cos reserve backs arent much markingoppostion. Appears to be lumbering in general play. Not good at ground level. He seems to clutter the forward line leads straight but not able to dip and dart around or change direction quickly enough. Won two straight without him. Melksahm.is experienced and can mark high as can Kozzie. With Fritsch, Melksham Jefferson as mid-sized talls and Petty the main tall, forwards are flexible and mobile. Petty is a confidence player great mark but can get the yips kicking. If that happens can swing him back for Turner or MacDonald, both proven marks and forwards Turner in plays back, to swing forward if Petty not doing it and given time..not in and out Kozzie to do his thing as mid or forward Viney primarily tags best opposition mid. This week Reid Tholstrup needs to go to reserves and rip it apart...Living on faux reputation at present. Doesn't compare to Langford or Linsey at all. Melksham, with experience and footy smarts is in our best team at HFF takes Kolts place this week Sharp remains sub Rivers plays Half back, not doing it as mid, as should Windsor..both to run and carry and when they have it, the running and overlap kicks in in various unpredictable chaos directions Salem and Bowey remain the distributors May doesnt kick it out. Provides pack mark target with MacDonald or Max if required from kick out when no solo target in space and marks his man. Bowey/Salem kick out as distributors. Then May back to last line of defence Pressure forwards Pickett, Chandler Sparrow Spargo Langton and Lindsey wings In Melksham Jefferson Out Tholstrup Fullarton Lineup: Bowey May McVee Rivers MacDonald Salem Langton Oliver Lindsey Chandler Petty Pickett Spargo Fritsch Melksham Gawn Petracca Viney Langford rotating centres/ halfforwards Sparrow rotating centres/ halfforwards Windsor rotating centres/ hallfbacks Jefferson rotating half forwards/ff Sharp sub No clear 2nd Ruck..maybe Petty with Jefferson to CHF while that happens and MacDonald when it's back Hmmm??
  17. Yes, it was he or Bedford at the time. I thought Bedford's pace should have given him the edge but now I'm happy. He's really developed over the last two years. That double effort for Trac's goal should be venerated.
  18. I agree I agree. Very doubtful May will ever get his body right again to play consistently. They need to get serious about going beyond the May Lever backline. JvR could perhaps go back where he has the game in front of him.knockingthe ball out and marking...maybe to get back into form or maybe as a KPB. Moore started as a forward at the Pies and later found his niche as a KPB. I don't think JVR has the mobility or aerial balance and recovery to twist and turn that is required for a dominant forward. Neither does he work well at ground level. He gets a few frees but has never played a dominant game changer..Max 3 goals.. Try him back.
  19. Grundy,Jordan,Bedford,Hogan, Jackson,Hunt, Harmes, Howe,Nibbler,Baker Of those Grundy, Jordan Bedford Hunt Harmes and Baker were forced out due to lack of opportunity . They would have stayed if.... Hogan need love Howe was played out of position and chose to leave. Hunt had 16 possessions this week and 300+ metres gained Jordan has cemented his place in a far better side Grundy could have rucked and Max could have provided a target at FF..he marks everything but Max was selfish. Who is running player development ? Who enforces contracts?
  20. I don't think rushing back a player from a broken hand is smart at all. Six weeks for fractures and hands are tricky. They did it with Oliver last year and it didn't go well at all
  21. Yes, Jordan was solid not give time to cement his place ..too often the sub. Bedford was fast and hard, not given a chance. Chandler got the nod, and Harmes, premiership player for Billings., well, Billings was a reject...why on earth would they pay for him...money down the drain. We need pace because we simply dont have those players running past the marker to move it on. Just doesnt happen. Brown needs to be an in this week
  22. Petty...out not up to AFL...soft..slow..trade him out JVR..out..not up to AFL..is a real stiff...unless he stars in VFL, trade him out to Perth Spargo....1 touch very dubious another chance must start the game Sharp...out....not doing it yet.. needs to star in VFL Henderson....marrieds to lift in VFL..out Rivers...out....needs to regain form in VFL 5 outs 5 ins Fullerton..in Lever...in MacVee..in Jefferson ..in Lindsey.in Why didn't Langford start in Round 1 Performed well in North practice game That was a bad, bad decision..He's in and we win that one and he plays Rnd 2 Starts Rd3 and cleans up Whoever is responsible for that decision needs to be shown the door forthwith.
  23. Yes on.both counts JVR not doing it...enough chances. Petty is a one trick pony..Can hold a few marks ..when he's on but TOO SLOW and can read the play
  24. Here's my Plan..!!! Forget all the Hype, Huggies and High Fives!! Forget the Stats!! Forget Goody and the thousands of coaches and overpaid hangers on. Revert to the Ted Whitten Game Plan...The only plan that has ever worked. Follow Plan A..There is no Plan B Plan A is...... See Ball, Get Ball, Kick Ball!!! Hit 'em Hard and Hit'em often and do it with..... 110% Guts and Determination for 110 minutes!!!
