  1. I still just cannot believe how dominant we were to close out the game.

To score 100-7 in the last 1.5 quarters is basically unheard of regardless of team and scenario, let alone in a GF.

To compare I thought of the most outrageous scoreline I can think of, which of course is the horrible 186 game vs Geelong 2011.

At half time in that game, the scoreline was 20.4.124 to 1.4.10 - we outscored the Dogs at a similar rate to one of the worst defeats in modern history, and in the Grand Final no less. And starting from 3 goals down at a crucial point in the match.

It just gets more and more incredible the more you think about it.

Following that everything was going right for them. Keath taking a contested mark in our forward line, then kicking to the wing when Naughton took another contested mark 3 deep. That was when I truly thought we were gone.

Me too, that was the moment that I thought we were cooked. Just couldn't get our hands on it. Next thing you know, Fritsch finally kicks that settler, and what followed was the most dominant stretch of play I think I've ever witnessed. That third quarter just doesn't get old.

  3. The best part about all his talent and potential is how grounded he comes across. No ego or arrogance, just a Perth kid who likes to have fun and play footy with his mates. You can see on-field how much he looks up to Maxy, hopefully they form a bond that makes Dogga the next in a long line of great rucks to represent the red and blue.

  4. The second-year goal tallies for some of the best small forwards in recent years:

    Stephen Milne: 50

    Kysaiah Pickett: 40

    Tom Papley: 30

    Liam Ryan (mature recruit): 30

    Cyril Rioli: 21

    Eddie Betts: 20

    Toby Greene: 4

What a special talent we have. Can't wait to see what this man can produce over a decade-long career in the red+blue.

I’ve just posted similar in the AFLW forum but considering Ben Brown seems to be an exceptional person and a bloody good key forward, does anyone know why North were so reluctant to keep him? Seems like madness on their behalf

Maybe they thought his knee was shot? Or maybe they knew they were going into full rebuild mode and wanted to give Larkey the reins as the primary KPF?

I still can’t get my head around the fact we are the premiers.

You know at the start of every season how Ch7/Fox do promo footage of each captain in a TV studio holding the cup, looking at the cup, ect? I'd always think "Why bother doing it with the Dees, it will never happen, waste of time"..... well, they better schedule Gawny to be first up next year before any other captains get their grubby mitts on OUR cup. It's the little things that make a premiership so great!!!

Tend to agree but Jordan Lewis has huge raps on JJ!  Both well exceeded my expectations. Big futures for both!

Around the club they're a bit of a package deal - the Fridge and the Freezer I think they call them. Yze loves them both, reckons they're some of the best at the club for training and prep

  8. The amount of times in the last few games of the year where Bowza would be pinned against the boundary or in heavy traffic and go to kick it, I'd think "OK, long dump kick to a contest" only for him to lace out a teammate 30m away with a kick that barely goes above head height..... crazy stuff. The prospect of him and Salem distributing off half back for years to come is pretty enticing 🤤

  9. Sparrow has a lot of great attributes, and people inside the club (especially Yze) rave about how he trains and prepares. With a big preseason and the confidence he would take from 2021, I reckon he could crack the regular midfield rotation. Keep in mind a that plenty of the games he put up good numbers were off ~60% game time - pretty impressive for a youngster. He's a like a proto-Viney but with a booming right shoe.

Here's to more 🤘🤪🤘 celebrations from Sparrow!

Melbourne CEO shoots down 'beat up' reports around nightclub stoush with western bulldogs

    https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/10/27/melbourne-ceo-shoots-down-beat-up-reports-around-nightclub-stoush-with/

A beat up? By a would be footy journo?  Who'da thunk it?!

Interestingly Pert never says that nothing happened, just that what was reported was overblown. So maybe there was some degree of argy bargy going on. If the Dogs were upset the Dees sang a song then that is great, shows how petty and fragile they are

  11. Some other ones (going off memory so might not be exact):

"Melbourne fans in that pocket must be feeling unbelievably"

    "Bullen from 47"

He also called the centre square the goalsquare, and was easily the most disruptive of the commentary team. Would yell over the top of others giving insights to the game to say something devoid of substance like "GEE, WHAT A GAME".

Also there were multiple times that Daisy would give some genuinely good insight and BT would just reply "WOW". Almost condescending. Too often he tries to force his personality and opinions in, just call the game mate.

And he absolutely does hate the Dees - a nightmare commentary match-up would be BT commentating the Dees vs 22 Tom Hawkins, would be absolutely insufferable

  12. A Bombers mate of mine has for years gotten stuck into me about Nibbler, saying he's a plodder, shouldn't be on an AFL list ect. Yes, he's not particularly talented and isn't a game-breaker but he's one of those glue guys you love to have at the club. Trains the house down, works harder than anyone else out on the ground and demands excellence of his teammates. Some say it is your bottom six that separates pretenders from contenders, Nibbler's output this year played a big role in our rise up the ladder. Nom nom nom.

Also I have this theory that he turns into a gun in wet-weather games, I might pay closer attention next year to see if there's any substance to it

  13. Can't help but feel bad for Hunty, he had a great year before he went down with injury. Played with a heap of tenacity and provided so much spring off half-back. Probably my number one favourite thing to watch in any Dees game is seeing Hunty put the burners on and sprint through the middle of the ground, ball in hand. He directly generated a bunch of scores from his runs off HB. Would love to see him back in the team next year (replacing Hibbo maybe?) and get a crack at becoming a premiership player like his team mates.
