  1. I cannot remember for the life of me the last time a player playing for a Victorian team requested a trade home to South Australia. Truly bizarre. Maybe Wanganeen? It just never really happens.

Out of interest have you ever had plantar fasciitis?

    Thanks

No, somehow managed to avoid that. I know that’s more common but more healable too.

  3. I suspect Spargo has achilles tendinopathy. It’s a pain in the neck of an injury. I’ve battled through it for a decade, being a competitive runner. Generally it’s an ‘over 30s’ injury so he is very young to experience it. It can be season ending and career threatening.

I've heard Grinter was even worse. I think he actually ended the odd career.

Troy Wilson was even worse than both of them without doing anything. Half a dozen blokes ended up with long term injuries colliding into him in his first season. Noting, he didn’t play for MFC, but was a legend.

Collingwood beat us fair and square. They were more finals ready than us, attacked the game harder from the outset(Maynard aside) and kicked their goals in bursts. The Carlton final was the one we really should've won.

Brisbane would've been an easier prospect IMO due to their MCG record, but we'll agree to disagree.

I'll put an asterisk next to your comment and one next to mine

    *In my opinion...

Yes had a clear view of the punch that sent Millane to the canvas. Ted won the stoush by a TKO. Millane managed to stand up on very rubbery legs and left the field visibly concussed. John Northey was not impressed it was the last game Ted played.

Recall news of John Fidge, Ted’s more talented younger brother as having some health problems post his footy career too. Wish Ted and his family some satisfactory resolution in dealing with the impact on his health from concussion.

Would be a very positive step forward for the AFL to take meaningful action and accept appropriate responsibility for those former players affected by this affliction

John is a regular contributor on one of the Melbourne Football club supporters facebook pages. He's certainly very very passionate about the club still and follows every moment.

And yet each game is played for premiership points.

If we took this year’s game against Essendon seriously, when we went in as red hot favourites, we would’ve won and finished second and avoided the Pies in week 1 finals.

Avoiding Collingwood was hardly an issue. Trying to forget about it now. We should have won that game. If we did finish 2nd we would have played the Lions anyway, at the MCG, which really wouldn’t have been any easier. Especially when we can’t kick at goal.

  8. Going to be a bit petty here, but I preferred the numbers overlapping the red on the back rather than sitting completely below it all on the navy. It's what I grew up with and what we had until a few years ago (maybe 2017?). We should go back to it.

  9. Unless North fold and offer picks 2 and 3, i'm fairly certain Reid will end up with us. WCE are just posturing. Like a previous poster or two said, there's absolutely no reason for WCE to deal before draft night.

The top teams rely heavily on their absolute top end talent. This will certainly help us contend during this window if Reid is like an Oliver / Daicos / Ashcroft and ready-made straight away.

  10. Let him go. Cash up now while we can. He’ll spend the rest of his career perennially injured anyway by the looks of it. His media expose today was pathetic and disrespectful to the club and fans. Hope the club calls him out on it and he avoids tearing up.

We give: 6, 11, FF, Petty to Adelaide.
    Adelaide give us: McAdam.

What you really mean by this is that Adelaide will get a special one-off concession from the AFL tomorrow as a result of its bungled Sydney loss to include one of either Gilbert or Adrian on its list, and it'll be that McAdam they'll be trading to us, not Shane. Seems fair to me!

  12. Cornes compared the Dunkley situation to Petty. There's a few differences that don't make it totally comparable -

    - Dunkley was in the last year of his contract; Petty has two years left

    - Dunkley was 25, Petty is 23 - Dunkley being more at the peak of his career than Petty is

    - Petty is more important to Melbourne (as a potential key forward) than Dunkley was to the Bulldogs (who have numerous midfielders)

Jordon was compo though.  Not an offer from a club.  He is also 6 years younger than Harmes which changes the compo considerably.

If Harmes were to leave under free agency we wouldn't get anything.

I know. Leave aside the details and finer print, I'm just saying they're probably worth about as much as each other. Harmes at his peak probably had more strengths than Jordan who's relatively vanilla, but Jordan is younger...

Apparently Rhys "Beastmode" Mathieson is leaving the Brisbane Lions due to lack of opportunities.

    Is he worth a punt?

I know he is quite an annoying and obnoxious bugger when he has played against the Demons. But he could be ideal midfield depth perhaps?

Here is a link regarding the news story: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/brisbane-lions/afl-trade-news-rumours-whispers-brisbane-lions-confirm-rhys-mathieson-seeking-new-home-dayne-zorko-future-deven-robertson-resigned-tom-doedee-will-ashcroft-levi-latest/news-story/c879298a741f3108d362772c99b21843

His first six kicks in his career were all free kicks in a match against us at the MCG from memory. Not one of them should have been paid - all dropping the shoulders. On that basis, it's against my principles to take him on :-)

Of course you have to be in it to win it.

Seriously?   IMO very lucky not to have been put through the wringer by AHPRA (medical board successor) for breaching one of the basic ethical requirements, putting his patients health paramount over the orders of the payer, in this case EFC.

Yes, I'm being serious. That man bent over backwards for me personally with my sporting injuries. I fully believe he was not involved in the Essendon drugs saga. He's one of the most creditable people I've ever met. You wouldn't find anyone that knows him that would say otherwise.

For the people in the room they did skip the Collingwood final or go back to it?

Gee Clint got a bit salty with some people at the end when they came back from that extra long break.

Maybe he wanted to get home early as he probably has to get up for weekend today.

Did anyone go up to Grundy & have a chat?

Looks like he wasn't there according to earlier comments. I didn't watch it.

Not sure your opinion on this is remotely accurate.

If Melb forfeit their $500,000 game in NT Alice they would play their 11 th home game at the MCG or have one home game at Marvel which they have asked not to be fixtured over the last decade.

The AFL would not take a genuine home game away from our fixture  as all Clubs are  entitled to 11 home games in their draw in a 22 game season. Your out of line call thetbthe AFL could schedule an 11th home game sat at Launceston's US University Ovsl and call it a home game vs the Hawks is never going to happen. No Club  either is going to request that venue as Hawthorn has a 70% plus winning ratio there even though irbid helped by allowing for them playing interstate and lower Clubs at that venue.

    Don't worry it won't happen.

You either missed my point or I didn't explain myself clearly enough. If the latter, I'll clear things up now.

Of course we would get 11 home games in Melbourne if we chose to call time on the Alice Springs game. No club plays 11 home games at the MCG, even Richmond and Collingwood are forced to play home games at Docklands, but that wasn't my point, whether we play 11 at the MCG or 10 at the MCG and 1 at Docklands.

We play a certain number of interstate games a year - all bar one being away games. We play a certain number of away games at the MCG and Docklands. My point was that one of those 'away' games at the MCG or Docklands would probably end up being interstate if we pulled out of Alice Springs (for instance, against Hawthorn), so we would in effect play the same number of interstate games, whether we kept the Alice Springs game or got rid of it.

I hope that clears things up and show's that my opinion probably does have some accuracy to it. Well it's not really an 'opinion', it's a suspicion...
