I will never forget that game for the rest of my life. I was at the Ainslie footy club in Canberra and was THE ONLY MELBOURNE SUPPORTER there. I stood up at 3/4 time and was dancing in front of the big screen laughing deliriously about how we were going to win. A very, very sad and lonely exit and walk stumble home.

I'm in for $20 for sure. (Would be more but I have to pay for a wedding)

Jack Watts will not play FF for Melbourne. He should play a marking HFF, in a sort of James Hird Mould.

At least there are a few things that we will take out of this game: 1. Lucas will never play for Essendon again 2. Martin should play forward 3. Robbo is gone at season end 4. Grimes will play midfield

Two key points to this game 1. Smashed in the Ruck/Midfield 2. Alwyn Davey carved us up

apart from being extremely frustrated with the ridiculous umpiring (WTF are they doing to our game?). Points to note from the Dees: 1. Continually held up after taking a mark. Do the players two kicks away not read the play? FMD, no initiative what so ever 2. Kick in's - enough said 3. Tackling. Too many missed. 4. Paul Johnson in the ruck Vs Ryder. That's just unfortunate from the stock available. 5. When you are a bad team, what ever happened to playing man on man? I'm not upset with the way we are playing but geez, Bailey needs to practice not only game sense + decision making but SKILLS. We are terrible.

Spot on. The younger brigade need to learn every aspect of the game and if it means playing him in the backline to prepare him for the mid-field, then do it.

Call me crazy, but why not try a forward line that includes: Watts, Bate, Newton, Maric, Sylvia and Green. Why not? Let's just hope the boys protect Jack cause the filth will try to rough him up. Especially that dog Maxwell.

Guys, Canberra night life sucks. Yes, civic has all the pubs around each other but you're better off going into Kingston (which is just down the road from Manuka oval). A pub called the "Durham" is pretty good and if you want a football club, go to Eastlakes. There are a whole heap of other pubs and nightclubs around as well. Also, Maunka is down the road where there are more drinking holes. Civic, while there are a lot of pubs, is not very inviting after the sun goes down. P.s: that irish pub, P.J O'Reilly's, is terrible. The other irish pub in civic, King O'Malley's, is better.

I wasn't sold on Martin just yet but after his performance today, he will be an extremely good defender. In fact, our whole back line will be awesome in the years to come.

When we have a forward line that has Newton and Sylvia, literally sitting in it, I will make a point of something that I noticed we lacked today. FORWARD PRESSURE FFS, Just because you are in the forward line, doesn't give you the excuse to NOT CHASE. Both are the laziest footballers I have ever seen.

Long time reader of Demonland and only post occasionally when I feel strongly about something. Not to give you a big head Jaded, but 99% of your posts are absolutely correct especially this one. I travelled to Melbourne this weekend from Canberra (as I try to at least 3 to 4 times a year) to see the Dees play and what I saw of Sylvia was appauling. I made a point of watching his work rate yesterday as I saw exactly what I had been fearing....Nothing. I don't need to expand here as it has been done already but at some points yesterday, I swear his legs were painted on.
