  1. We need condenser mics amongst the journalists to be able to hear them and dynamic mics for the coaches and players. SM57’s ideally for that 1970s look.
  2. He signed a two year extension just before the season started last year, so he’s up for grabs for 2024 is my understanding.
  3. Every time Dermott Brereton speaks on tv is worse than a thousand Wreck it Ralph’s. I have to mop up the pretentiousness off my lounge room floor every time I hear him on my television. Unbearable.
  4. I’d imagine he’ll go to a Vic club for sure, but Brisbane are going to throw a lot at him as Daniher and Hipwood in the same forward line are not going to win them a flag.
  5. Will it be Daniher or Hipwood (among picks or another player) that gets traded at the end of the year for Ben King? One of them has to go and if I’m Brisbane, I’m throwing everything I have to get King.
  6. I think I barrack for any team Zorko isn’t on. Get it done Dogs.
  7. Pretty bloody depressing this is almost exactly 30 years on from Winmar.
  8. He’s 7cm taller and 2kg lighter than Shane Mumford. And he looks faster and more athletic. Even when Mumford was out of the game, he made sure opposition players were looking for him once they got the ball. I doubt there’s a single player that physically fears Lobb.
  9. Hawkins has been getting goals from clear pushes in the back for a decade. He does it as a forward and in the ruck. The justification is that he’s holding the player from moving back, which would be fine if that’s what he was actually doing, but he moves the player in front of him, FORWARD with his hands. It’s ridiculous.
  10. Wrong. Big Girls blouses are useful.
  11. Why is pushing in the back in the ruck allowed but other parts of the ground aren’t? Zorko’s free is standard ruck work from throw ins. Happens every game.
  12. The most noticeable thing from the GF for me whilst I was watching it (which I didn’t see coming as Swans have pretty big bodies all over the ground) was Geelong absolutely bulldozed the swans around the ball. Really shook them up and the Swans couldn’t handle the level of physicality. They chit the bed. Would love to see us do that to them again as I don’t think they’re used to being bullied.
  13. It might be a good thing that Gawn is out for 6-8 as we need to come up with different systems without him regardless I.e. if he’s having a shocker in a prelim - we need other avenues. I watched the Brisbane game again and the amount of times I realised that ‘Maxy would take a mark here’ really shows an over reliance and also that he’s arguably the best player in the league, not just the best ruckman IMO. Not sure what that would look like exactly but if we’re a serious premiership contender, over reliance on one player to fulfill a system or team set up has to be overcome. I’d also like Goody to tell Grundy, Oliver, Tracc and Viney - free licence out there. Play like you have nothing to lose and whatever happens, happens. I’ve mentioned it before, but Collingwood are given that licence especially in the 4th quarter and it’s worked for them time and time again. Even when Collingwood lose, there’s never a ‘what if’. Everything gets left out on the field. Jake Bowey also has an insanely high average disposal efficiency of 81.1% (Nick Daicos avg is 76.8% to put that in context), gotta be a way of utilising that skill to be more damaging.
  14. Hopefully not another Carrington event of the 1800’s…
  15. This is like what I say to my Collingwood supporter mates to rile them up: ‘The 2010 Grand Final was a draw, you won the replay’ Just takes a little bit of the shine off that premiership.
  16. To give credit where credit is due - the Brisbane mids were in good positions to get possession off our rucks even when we won the tap outs. We were also horribly fumbly and Brisbane were just cleaner. I think Oliver has to be able to find a way to shake a tag or Goodwin has to protect him or make him take the tagger to parts of the ground the opposition doesn’t want him to go. I would be shocked if Oliver doesn’t get tagged like how Berry does a lot from now on. It’s worked twice on him, two games in a row from Brisbane. There were other parts of the ground where we played horribly, but Brisbane beat us fair and square in the middle. Purely outplayed and out coached in there. We couldn’t get momentum until those last 12 minutes of play when we had nothing to lose and Brisbane had everything to lose. Which is Collingwoods entire 4th quarter game plan, they just put the foot to the floor, go on an all out attack and overwhelm the opposition because they play like they have nothing to lose. If you win you win, if you don’t you don’t. Nothing left on the ground.
  17. Besides getting mauled in the middle until the last 5 minutes, the other thing that happened all night was Brisbane players, playing in front. Didn’t matter if it was our backline or forward line, they seemed to always play in front. There were other things that were poor but when it comes down to it, you aren’t going to win many games of footy when you get slaughtered in the middle like that.
  18. Anybody else noticed that he’s breathing heavily??? Sounds like he has a bad bout of asthma or something, not joking
  19. Any chance every other team in the comp doesn’t tag Oliver for the rest of the year? Genuinely asking as I can’t remember, has Oliver beaten a tagger in a game before?
  20. Maxy has flicked the lights off. He’s had enough.
  21. 24 degrees at night in Brisbane would make the ball pretty slippery. I think Brisbane are just used to it and we’re not (compounded by the fact that we are objectively not playing well).
  22. Given the smashing in clearances we’re doing alright scoreboard wise. Start winning the clearances and find a way to lock it in our F50 and we win.
  23. Is that why Brisbane were able to get away with 3 short kicks in a row inside their forward 50? Or 3 demons players standing side by side not attacking the Brisbane player with the ball in our D50? Thats an attitude thing, not a ‘Brisbane are playing so well our players can’t execute pressure’ thing.
