One thing that I thought I would never see in my lifetime is the words "respect, good, brilliant, skillful, uncompromising, tough" on opposition fan sites describing the Melbourne Football Club.

One of the best interviews after the game was Garry Lyon interviewing Gus on Fox. Gus is Melbourne through and through. When he tells Garry "Its our club".

Being in WA a lot of neutrals over here brought Melbourne merchandise over the last 2 weeks. Eagle supporting mates reckon the Demons are now their second choice side.

Been supporting this great club since 87. Been through some highs and a lot of lows but Saturday night was just amazing. This side is so tough and uncompromising. Highlight for me was when my Richmond supporting son passed me a beer after the Oliver goal and said "That's the knockout blow Dad, the Bulldogs have thrown their best shot. No team can stop this, they won't stop them now, they are just so powerful". Ended up going to bed after 2am Sunday after watching the replay on Kayo and listening to the 3AW highlights.

I remember when the John Northey sides used to get into trouble he would put Sean Wight and Earl Spalding forward.

That was the also the debut game for Sam Weiderman. During the second quarter Oliver won a centre clearance that resulted in a Brayshaw goal on the run that I remember well.

Hi
First post here after lurking for so long getting all my Demon info here. Lucky enough to have been to about 12 Finals from 1988 to 1994. Lived in Melbourne then but now in Perth. Favorite Demons were Alan Johnson, Brett Bailey and Rod Grinter,- 3
