paying a chunk of clarry's salary is a big consequence. hopefully we learn our lesson from it.

The issue with long term contracts is the unknowable. they are a leap of faith and this situation proves it. we have to eat a chunk of his wages now to move him on We gave Gus a long term contract when he had known concussion issues Our list management decisions have been poor.

Papley couldn't get to Carlton after nominating them (if memory serves me correctly)

The mismanagement was giving a whopping contract to Clarry. List management decisions in general have also been poor the last few years But the club needs a reset. and i'm fully behind it. We've basked in the glory of 2021 and failed to deal with disruptive influences and failed evolve and change This reset might not work but it has to happen now before Tassy come into the comp.

Humphreys is more valuable than Trac It'll be Trac plus a pick. Our F1 potentially (i'm not with pick trading so may be off the mark here but definitely won't be a straight swap for Trac)

There go my plans for a productive workday. I'm turning off my work notification now. Trac nominating Suns is massive for us Flanders is a minimum. We must sign him. Hopefully we can nab Humphreys as well. If we manage that we've had a superb trade period. And if we can go to the draft with at least one high pick i'd back JT to pick out a quality player. I'm feeling very positive right now

I'm hoping this thread is quieter today I can't have another low productivity day otherwise i'll be working the weekend to catch-up

Bailey Humphrey
If we can turn clarry and Trac into Flanders and Humphrey it would be a great outcome.

I’m starting To think we should hold onto Trac unless the deal is too good to turn down. Just cut clarry loose. Too much change might be a bad thing especially with a new coach.

Unfortunately we had no idea how to handle success. When Alex Ferguson took over united they were a basket case. He cleaned house (took a few years) and turned them into a powerhouse. He used to say he always made sure no player thought they they were bigger than the club. As soon as they got ideas above their station they were out. He also made a point of adding new players every year. Kept everyone on their toes. They are a number of reasons why we have stagnated but a big factor is tolerating clarrys poor behaviour. Wouldn’t happen at a strong club. And players wouldn’t be allowed to run the joint. Recipe for disaster. Goody is a legend of the club but this took hold and was allowed to fester under his watch. Anyways, we’re back to where we’ve always been. Hopefully king knows what he is doing. On the bright side we have an excellent talent picker in JT. If he has some good picks he’ll turn them into quality prospects for us.

Because he’s a positive leadership influence around the club. We need that if we’re in a rebuild phase

the joke is not on clarry its on us because we are paying his fat salary

We’re a football club not a baby sitting service. Clarry is a grown man who has made some terrible decisions, mental health or not. I’ve little sympathy for him. That said he was showing some signs of improvement towards the end of the season so maybe he might turn it around. King has different ideas by the looks of it

Viney is a positive leader around the club. Trac and clarry are not.

I have no problem with the club looking to move clarry. His output v his salary are poles apart. But paying 700k is bonkers and makes no sense to me. And I reckon we should have let clarry know sooner than this week.

Youll renew. just like the rest of us will
-

Maybe tassy draft concessions are driving these decisions. Clear the decks, collect picks and rebuild now.

$700k is a huge chunk of cap to shallow. I reckon we’re better off keeping him if that’s the case. Of course it might not be true but a journo making a statement like that, which is so hard to believe, actually makes me think it might in fact be true.

And why wouldn’t king be meeting clarry anyways. Sounds like standard process to me.
-
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Let’s wait and see how the meeting goes. Quite possibly journos getting ahead of themselves. They need grist for the trade radio mill so we need not jump at shadows re clarry

no corporate speak nonsense. we've had enough of that guff I know i'd love to have this guy coaching me. Speaks clearly. No one will be unsure of their role. I'm very much in favour of the shift in communication style from the clubs leadership And i'm delighted we have this bloke rather than FIGJAM coaching the team
