Losing out to the dons or the saints for a player we want would be hard to swallow particularly as he seemed to be intent on victoria as opposed to a particular club You would think the King connection is a factor and surely we can match or beat the salary

The last 3 mins of our game against the pies was the worst. something like 6 frees awarded to the pies ALFW umpiring is ridiculously bad

If he was heart and soul why was he talking to Freo and prepared to use them as leverage against us. I get it. players want to maximise their earnings while they can. I would do the same but there has to some cold logic applied to these negotiations as well.

A player that had a history of concussion issues had to retire because of concussion issues thats the fact of the matter sure Maynard is a thug s***bag however gus was only ever one concussion away from retirement so a 6 year contract was not smart at all. and so it proved.

We were too focussed on keeping the band together. Long terms contracts are risky but because we’re not used to success we doled them out to keep everyone happy.

paying a chunk of clarry's salary is a big consequence. hopefully we learn our lesson from it.

The issue with long term contracts is the unknowable. they are a leap of faith and this situation proves it. we have to eat a chunk of his wages now to move him on We gave Gus a long term contract when he had known concussion issues Our list management decisions have been poor.

Papley couldn't get to Carlton after nominating them (if memory serves me correctly)

The mismanagement was giving a whopping contract to Clarry. List management decisions in general have also been poor the last few years But the club needs a reset. and i'm fully behind it. We've basked in the glory of 2021 and failed to deal with disruptive influences and failed evolve and change This reset might not work but it has to happen now before Tassy come into the comp.
