FINALS 2022: Week 03
A blueprint that (sadly) seemed to work well every time.

Port chasing Kozzy Pickett
“Sources close to the Pickett trade rumours insist they are completely untrue.” so those close to the (made up) the rumours are now insisting they are completely untrue. Gold - start a rumour and a few days later insist it is untrue BS. Got to love the lead up to trade period.

FINALS 2022: Week 03
Can’t argue with that.

FINALS 2022: Week 03
Why does every team seem to bring their best pressure rating of the year when playing us (Bris last week, Syd, Bulldogs, Pies). Hard to watch when our best is so much better.

Fill the ‘G’
Was about to post the same thing. We earn the right for a home final and they play the roar after evey lions goal. Would they do the reverse at an interstate venue for a final? If MFC wanted to support members attending, they could at least send a please explain to the ground or AFL or both. Salt in the wounds!

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Not sure what day but maybe we could request to play it interstate as we seem to be a different team on the road?
-
Gastro Scare at the Dees
Maybe a strategy by Goody so he can watch multiple angles and streams from the comfort of his lounge room and beam in his messages to Yze. Worked well last time 😬
-
Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Glass half full approach - we still win and he is now free to play against the Pies and has a blinder. I know, I know, going by our luck recently it will be the opposite.
-
Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Crafting their wording as to why he gets off - threading the eye of the needle! Brace for a baffling outcome (based on a technicality).

Farewell Brodie Grundy
No wonder he is missing with that level of tension when he kicks 😜

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Can anyone explain to me why Weid was called back to take his kick. Appeared he marked it, continued holding the footy (ie did not drop it) and then spun to kick the goal and all before umpire called time off. Maybe I missed something but I thought that is play on every day if the week?

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
BT and Brayshaw spent 5 minutes crapping on about Jackson leaving and what the trade looks like. Such poor commentary. No analysis of the game whatsoever. I am not surprised.
-
Current Television
I was very surprised and loved how much of the legal team meetings and strategies were put to air. Enthralling viewing. Enjoy a long night ahead lol.
-
Current Television
The documentary is fantastic. Inside the legal team bunker during the running of the hearing is rarely seen. Very interesting viewing and a few twists along the way. Loved it.

POSTGAME : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
But will it..... umpiring inconsistency that displays a subconscious bias at best and a conscious bias at worst.

POSTGAME : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Staggering. Disgraceful. Given how frees against us were adjudicate it leaves you speechless and extremely angry. How can one team be favoured so obviously? FullSizeRender.mov

Link Round Up: 2021 Premiership - Videos, Articles etc.
Awesome post. Here is the multi-call of the third quarter blitz but broken up into the different commentary played back to back for each goal (ie each goal is repeated with the different commentary). Has bee posted elsewhere in Demonland. Might be worth adding as couldn’t see it listed: Big footy has some more full game links with some commentary not listed above: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-melbourne-replay-archive.1144478/post-72378328

Channel 7 Broadcast - Tips on how to synch to the radio
Andy Maher just said on SEN that their second AFL channel (via the app) will have him commentating the match (possibly with Bob Murphy so likely to have a Bulldogs slant) and that it will be in sync with the channel 7 broadcast. If true, could be an option to avoid BT and avoid the spoiler texts (goals etc) from mates if you were to watch it on delay. If we are winning I don’t care who is commentating lol

Umpiring
The MRO did not follow the views of the commentators who blamed Nev for his head high contact from McStay: Daniel McStay, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with Forceful Front-On Contact against Neville Jetta, Melbourne, during the second quarter of the Round Eight match between Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions, played at Metricon Stadium on Sunday July 26. In summary he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea. Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, High Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. Salt in the wounds for Kozzy's tackle in the second quarter though - fined $1,000: Kysaiah Pickett, Melbourne, has been charged with Rough Conduct (Dangerous Tackle) on Jarrod Berry, Brisbane Lions, during the second quarter of the Round Eight match between Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions, played at Metricon Stadium on Sunday July 26. In summary he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea. Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, Low Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction as a first offence. The player can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

PS - not sure how to embed the video into the post.

Here is a clip of Kozzy's "dangerous" tackle in 4th quarter (about 4:10 left on clock). As the umpire was clearly blind sided, Lachie Neale was in a much better position to signal the correct call ? vlc-record-2020-07-27-13h29m49s-Melbourne_v_Brisbane_(Kozzy_Tackle).mp4-.ts

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Lyon and Watson on SEN pumping up Hogan’s tyres. Probably doesn’t make a scrap of difference but better than hearing some of the trade radio hosts.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Thanks for the reply. Lots of shadow jumping at the moment especially by media personalities trying to big note themselves. Hard to know who to believe and what inferences to draw. All will be known in about 4 sleeps. Hopefully the outcome will not result in us going down the same road in 12 months time. I fear it will but having a premiership cup will make it much easier ?.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
That is certainly reassuring. However, what causes confusion for some of us supporters is why Melbourne appear to have softened their negotiation stance from two high first round picks to a reported pick 5 and a second round in order to off load Jesse. Why be so “accomodating” if they think he may not want to go? Not doubting you or your sources. Just seems like so many mixed messages and it could be pretty destabilising (if not already) for the fans, Jesse and/or the club. How far is the club (morally) obligated to go to get a deal done? Fine line of course but seems Melbourne have been a very willing participant in terms of seeking to facilitate a trade by compromising on our demands.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Even better for Jesse then! What is loyalty to the club worth these days? Sadly it seems not much for some players (across the league) - all boils down to business/commercial/financial interests for players and clubs which is rgw world of footy we now live in, like it or not. Always some exceptions to the rule (Viney, Jones etc). Just need some success so can become more of a destination and retention club.
