  1. I had no idea how many wowsers were on Demonland.
  2. A few kgs? From his face? I had no idea his face was that fat.
  3. A high-functioning forward line, with accurate and confident delivery to said forward line.
  4. The very same. They hold the Guinness World Record for the highest score in an official game of Australian Rules football when they defeated Primrose in 1992. 100 - 34 - 634 Primrose somehow scored 18 points. I’ve often tried to imagine how that even happened, and what that match must have looked like.
  5. 24 goals in one game. Did he play for the Campbells Creek Magpies? (bonus point for anybody who gets that joke).
  6. Yeah, this aligns very much with my take on Nibbler. There’s no questioning his commitment, passion and athleticism. Needs to balance out that heart and soul with a bit more brain.
  7. It’s hard to define what a ‘breakout year’ constitutes, exactly. Just being largely improved? Cementing your place in the top 22 for the next few seasons? Or is it “getting the whole league talking” kinda territory? Kysaiah Pickett is on the precipice of genuine AFL stardom, but his inconsistency is the one thing keeping him from taking the leap. Hoping he starts stitching matches together, then we’ll see a spectacular breakout. Along with Sparrow, Rivers, Petty and Bowey you have a list of players all with a premiership to their name and all 22 years of age or younger. It’s genuinely exciting to think that all five players could have huge years in ‘23.

Take some comfort from Leonard Cohen
“You start off irresistible. And, then you become resistible. And then you become transparent – not exactly invisible but as if you are seen through old plastic. Then you actually do become invisible. And then — and this is the most amazing transformation — you become repulsive. But that’s not the end of the story. After repulsive then you become cute – and that’s where I am.”

I always return to “Enter The Wu Tang (36 Chambers)”. It’s got such a dark, subterranean mood throughout, and just drops you into their world. It’s the “Exile On Main St” of hip-hop.

Ok at some point this thread’s name needs to be changed to “Demonland Record Corner”.

    Wow! What was the project?

I produce records for a living and to hear somebody say that The Beatles are "uninteresting" is like a scientist being told that Galileo was a bit "samey".
  13. That’s a fine choice, Dr. Gonzo. If pressed to choose a favourite Hendrix track, I’d have to say “1983
A Merman I Should Turn To Be”. Runners up are “Machine Gun” (Band Of Gypsys) and the live version (Winterland,1968) of “Hear My Train A Comin” from the incredible album “The Jimi Hendrix Concerts”.
  14. If anybody else is also reclined on the couch, enjoying the grey skies and looking for something both meditative and epic to listen to, I can highly recommend this album by Floating Points (Sam Shepherd), the London Symphony Orchestra and the recently-departed jazz giant, Pharoah Saunders.
  15. This is one of my favourite music documentaries. Leon Theremin’s story is almost unbelievable. Immigrates from Russia to New York, not only invents the Theremin instrument and a host of other instruments/contraptions, but essentially creates the concept of “motion sensors” entirely (the next time a door automatically opens for you, thank Leon). Then, as his inventions begin to get noticed, he’s abducted by the KGB in the subway, and sent to work in a Siberian work-camp where he’s forced to create devices for them (including “the bug”). His story doesn’t end there, but I don’t want to give anything away. His protege (and the woman he was “courting”) in NYC was another emigrĂ© from Lithuania called Clara Rockmore. She studied Leon’s instrument with the utmost dedication, and is to this day remains the finest of all theremin players.

Certain personal things should remain sacred, therefore I refuse to divulge the meaning behind my username.

Yes, I’m incredibly aware of that, don’t worry.

    @BLWNBARe Pickett
. Look, I know he’s played an interminable three years with us which only included one premiership, and having just recently turned 21, is getting on a bit in his years, but just try to be patient.

If Syd Stack comes to the Demons he’ll have the dubious title of “Only Demons Player I’ve Had A Cigarette With”. (I’ve since quit)

We weren’t on the whole tour! Just the Aus shows. They were an interesting bunch. Not exactly what you’d call “down to earth”, but also not that difficult. Have got many a horror-story about touring with awful bands, but thankfully many more that have been great.

Wow. There’s a band I haven’t thought of for a while. My old band toured with them back in 2001.

After something like that occurs, a player is haunted.
