  1. Demons to win by 31 points in-front of a 80K+ crowd - we understand the Tigers game plan, we know how to beat it. Now its a matter of taking our opportunities and beating the 2017 AFL premiers on this great day - Anzac Eve. Huge thank you to the Tigers for allowing us to be their partners and create this blockbuster game ... but Go Dees.
  2. Looks like club updated the site http://melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-18/melbourne-delighted-by-casey-funding Chief executive Peter Jackson said the club was delighted with the Andrews Government’s commitment to Casey Fields. “We think this is a great investment, not only for the City of Casey, but also for female football and for the further upgrade to the facilities at Casey Fields,” he said.
  3. Yeah think he was angry at the club the AFL and many other volunteers / club employees and he took his frustrations out on me - anyway I’m over it moved on and wish him well. I’m rapt the club is building a positive culture, growing our membership growing our crowds and building a strong business. I’m a huge supporter of PJ and thank the AFL for their assistance in helping us find key personnel when we needed them.
  4. The club have placed a statement on their website - sounds like they are pretty positive about the deal http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-13/big-boost-for-footy-facilities
  5. Yeah Carlton, Gold Coast & Lions chock full of earlier draft picks got smashed by teams with less than a hand full of early picks. Geez this “draft” is such a great equalisation tool. But that’s only my opinion.
  6. Don’t cash out on the double - north are killing them - you are home with a few extra dollars in your pocket - well done
  7. West Coast & Fremantle are both very well run sports entertainment businesses- think they can afford it to keep their supporters happy. Think they made a few errors but I’m sure they can fix them up.
  8. Think you will find Australian wages are very high compared to many countries around the world. Just a thought.
  9. I do go to our functions and I really enjoy them -
  10. Nah I just go to the functions - great fun, you get to watch the footy or play some other sport. Golf, cricket etc The players love it - they recognise they are only an injury away from ending their footy career and potential starting a business career - often when they are injured they hang around of their own free choice, as do the coaches etc etc It’s just another way to enjoy the footy. No big deal.
  11. Think the club was interested - But the key principle is it’s a business group - it does the work ie golf days, winery tours, day at the races, interstate trips to support away games and the target profit margin is 100k per event. Not every supporter is business minded so may have not recognised the opportunity - so we moved on elsewhere - no big deal.
  12. It’s a business group ( that actively assist in raising money ) we tried to do the same at the MFC - because the Tiger group raises $1.5 million + approximate per year and there is less than 100 of them. The benefits of a group like this are endless - great way to keep players that other clubs target, very social, always easy to tap them on the shoulder for funds for medium size quickly implemented projects. But such is life
  13. The demographics of our membership would suggest you are not alone - it’s a shame we did not have a process in place to assist our long-term members with some sort of upgrade for staying loyal for so long. This is where the business community could help.
  14. Memberships should also be calculated on profit made - think the Tigers would also do well on that figure. We could learn a lot from Tigers when it comes to revenue raising thru memberships.
  15. Interesting I’m pretty confident you are right. This site is full of “media junkies” set to go into melt down mode over the next piece of media click bait. The media can be social media or AFL press media - many just don’t understand the internet ie click bait, fake news, google adwords, site indexing etc etc etc
  16. More new MFC supporters - 150 students get a whole new experience in AFL football by the MFC great job to all. http://m.melbournefc.com.au/video/2018-04-10/student-match-day-experience
  17. It’s a bonanza in more ways than 1 - we are gaining genuine respect from tha AFL, our goals are their goals, we are gaining genuine respect from other clubs we can work with them for mutual interest. But most of all we are building a positive innovative culture - some supporters and all sponsors luv that. Go Dees
  18. Good point and you may we’ll be right. No doubt about it Ruckmen/ Forwards and Ruckmen / midfielders had a good weekend. But I want to see it for more rounds in a season - before I’m going to declare a “golden” era. I remember when Dimma first mentioned playing Griggs in the ruck we thought he had lost his marbles - but Griggs is an AFL premiership ruckman
  19. Think you have nailed it - I’m not opposed to change .
  20. I should also add two things - I’m not a/ a politician & b / media “junkie” - which would make mea contrarian compared to 99% of people in Demonland. but I clearly stated my source on AFL pure ruckmen. Clubs dont like to draft ruckmen, they are slow, mainly in the rehab group and need a long time to develop. Sorry, I don’t t rate ruckmen - but each to their own. Ruckmen in today’s game need a second role to be worthwhile- otherwise get rid of them.
  21. On some issues yes I’m sure it is contrarian - but sometimes ( and I stress the sometimes ) thinking against the pack is not all foolish/ bad - it’s just different. I’m sure as hell it won’t make me popular but that’s life. I don’t read newspapers so not influenced by them my life my descision - some you get right some you get wrong but I’m never going to die wondering - happy to be challenged happy to be wrong.
  22. Yes, you would be amazed at how many people over value ruckmen - but it does make good click bait. The game has evolved and pure ruckmen are dynasours. You need your rucks to have a secondary string to their bow. Its why we worked so hard with big Maxy to drop the weight and the cigarettes. Now we can even base set-plays around him in final minutes of the game.
  23. I’m predicting a close tight game, Demons 10 goals up by half time, then we are going to slow down hit the wall and have a final margin of 103 points win to us. Logically, I’m going to complain about the weather, the umpires, our guernrsey, the AFL and the starting time of game - if this 103 point margin is not obtained. Ahhh Go Dees
