  1. Demons to win by 31 points in-front of a 80K+ crowd - we understand the Tigers game plan, we know how to beat it. Now its a matter of taking our opportunities and beating the 2017 AFL premiers on this great day - Anzac Eve. Huge thank you to the Tigers for allowing us to be their partners and create this blockbuster game ... but Go Dees.
  2. Looks like club updated the site http://melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-18/melbourne-delighted-by-casey-funding Chief executive Peter Jackson said the club was delighted with the Andrews Government’s commitment to Casey Fields. ā€œWe think this is a great investment, not only for the City of Casey, but also for female football and for the further upgrade to the facilities at Casey Fields,ā€ he said.
  3. Yeah think he was angry at the club the AFL and many other volunteers / club employees and he took his frustrations out on me - anyway I’m over it moved on and wish him well. I’m rapt the club is building a positive culture, growing our membership growing our crowds and building a strong business. I’m a huge supporter of PJ and thank the AFL for their assistance in helping us find key personnel when we needed them.
  4. The club have placed a statement on their website - sounds like they are pretty positive about the deal http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-13/big-boost-for-footy-facilities
  5. I do go to our functions and I really enjoy them -
  6. Nah I just go to the functions - great fun, you get to watch the footy or play some other sport. Golf, cricket etc The players love it - they recognise they are only an injury away from ending their footy career and potential starting a business career - often when they are injured they hang around of their own free choice, as do the coaches etc etc It’s just another way to enjoy the footy. No big deal.
  7. Think the club was interested - But the key principle is it’s a business group - it does the work ie golf days, winery tours, day at the races, interstate trips to support away games and the target profit margin is 100k per event. Not every supporter is business minded so may have not recognised the opportunity - so we moved on elsewhere - no big deal.
  8. It’s a business group ( that actively assist in raising money ) we tried to do the same at the MFC - because the Tiger group raises $1.5 million + approximate per year and there is less than 100 of them. The benefits of a group like this are endless - great way to keep players that other clubs target, very social, always easy to tap them on the shoulder for funds for medium size quickly implemented projects. But such is life
  9. The demographics of our membership would suggest you are not alone - it’s a shame we did not have a process in place to assist our long-term members with some sort of upgrade for staying loyal for so long. This is where the business community could help.
  10. Memberships should also be calculated on profit made - think the Tigers would also do well on that figure. We could learn a lot from Tigers when it comes to revenue raising thru memberships.
  11. It’s a bonanza in more ways than 1 - we are gaining genuine respect from tha AFL, our goals are their goals, we are gaining genuine respect from other clubs we can work with them for mutual interest. But most of all we are building a positive innovative culture - some supporters and all sponsors luv that. Go Dees
  12. PJ is forever an optimist as am I. Good to see it’s part of our ā€œbusinessā€ analysis and I hope we don’t just replace the pokies profit but we exceed it.
  13. Well said. We have a very bright future in an extremely tough business environment. I look forward to find ways we ca Build our membership numbers, build our crowds and work with the business community to grow our sponsorship deals. Go Dees
  14. I’m sure it will be some derogatory term against a person who has a different opinion as him. His other popular term would be ā€œtrollā€ the irony is quite funny. It’s the most banned term around the internet but the most misused term. Happy to be wrong of course
  15. The haters are always going to hate every club has the same problems- just part of life.
  16. Sorry you are asking the wrong person that question. I’m a football person - I barrack for the MFC that play the game of AFL football in the sports entertainment business. I support the AFL and I’m happy to discuss football matters and learn from anybody at any club. Go Dees
  17. With all due respect to past administrators much of their time was consumed dealing with political or religious agenda pushers. Which often led to polarisation that spilled over into football matters. This club had been dogged with those problems for decades plus the ā€œhatersā€ who are always going to hate. The MFC is now politics and religion free - all are welcome male or female, young or old etc
  18. Don’t think the terminology you used is correct ie pipe dreams & wishy washy IMHO the club has a clear strong message. We are a football club not a religious or political organisation. We are prepared to make positive innovative changes to attract a whole new generation of supporters. the AFL assisted us with the rebirth of our club - the AFL goals and MFC goals are aligned. Some of us will be forever grateful for the assistance and key personnel the AFL provided. This will upset some but it was recognised long, long ago some who want to hold onto the ways of the past and resist change. Such is life. Go Dees
  19. Omg who would have thought these are our strategic goals grow the fan base, increased game attendances strategy to reposition our club 'for the next generation of fans' (Barlett's words). Sounds like the ā€œold boysā€ club is gone, gone, gone Go Dees
  20. You need to teach your grand-daughter that to answer that question you probably need around 40-50 hrs of form analysis, then take that form analysis and have the ability to frame your own markets - a strong back ground in mathematics, probability and computer literacy . Helps. Now she is up against professionals ie Bookmakers with deep pockets - it’s not easy money it’s a tough, tough grind. However, if she wants to take the ā€œlazy optionā€ she is probably better to stick with tattslotto like her grand-parents generation probably did. But remind her the odds of winning lotto.

    - this thread - fantastic, enjoyable game - the understanding there is always next week a season consists of 22 games, not 1 game Go Dees
  22. I’m with you suppose ultimately players are just trying to do the best for themselves and their families. Try to play the best footy they can because you life playing the game is so short.
  23. 90% of us are optimistic about the future 10% of the community are pessimists and so far away from the thinking inside the club it’s not funny - it’s time to cut them loose the 10% think football is a religion or a political party - no it’s just a game
  24. Our club has made a descision I’m going to support the club and wish Jack all the best. So many of our supporters are suffering from MFCSS this is the bigger problem for the club than I thought. Go Dees
  25. Let’s be 100% honest - some people can tell you all the problems of the world today ( hence they are angry, frustrated & impatient) yet could not give you a solution even if their life depended upon it - such is life.
