100% has some awareness in the legs. I’m no sports injury specialist but if his running today was solely a fitness issue as has been suggested then he is a long way off from playing.

I don’t believe that to be the case. Whilst his conditioning when arriving at the club probably wasn’t up to scratch as has also been hinted at he has shown some impressive moments on the track that I have witnessed and I would still have picked him in the opening round given that Kozzy is out.

Today he 100% looked to be carrying something and did look uncomfortable at times. Most likely hammy awareness. Again I am not qualified to make that assessment but I wasn’t the only one to observe that.

If that is the case then he may be pushing up hill for opening round but I am choosing to start the year positively and hope he can play in one of the practice matches and then tear the SCG apart.

My understanding is that McAdam’s groins have flared up and he is very unlikely to play early in the season.

Perhaps getting in some practice for this Thursday’s 2024 Coterie Golf Day at Heritage Golf and Country Club in Chirnside Park. At $325 per person you can expect not a lot of regular people signing up.

Similarly the 2024 Coterie MFC Season Launch will take place on February 22nd and is  $320 a head. I’m at a point now where if an event has the word ‘coterie’ in the title I don’t read any further. 😆

The reason the prices are so high for those events is purely to raise money for the club - Coterie is a not for profit organisation.

No different to the bloke at Geelong who shells out $30,000 when asked for a new hyperbaric chamber but in return gets to have a beer with Danger and Chris Scott half an hour after each home game to discuss tactics etc.

My god why did it take so long for west coast to tell us they're picking Harley?

Also what happened to the clubs reading out the players they are drafting

The players get drafted well before the TV says they are. It’s so they can get the interviews and analysis in.

We've traded pick 42, so if Kynan Brown is picked in the draft we won't be able to match.

We will get him as a rookie if no one calls out his name.

    They clearly don't love him

Won’t be picked. Locked in for a spot on the rookie list.

  5. This is utterly disgusting. The midfield haven’t really got near it for 5 weeks. The defensive intensity is completely non existent. Some soft kills early this season camouflaged a fair few holes. Time for a list refresh and to prioritise a strong inside mid because other than Hanks they’ve all gone backwards this year.

  6. Having just got back and settled down on the trip home I’ve come to the realisation that today boiled down to two key things:

    - Failure to take clear goalkicking chances (I can think of at least 6 that were very gettable) - if those go through (particularly the early ones) it’s a different game with more scoreboard pressure.

    - The absence of a transcendent inside mid who is the best inside mid we’ve had in my lifetime - we have been spoiled with him and Trac’s nearly constant presence in the team over the last 5 years so we come to expect a level of performance around the ball that simply can’t be maintained when either of them are not there. Take Brayshaw (the closest comparison) out of Freo’s team today and we probably win by 3 goals.

I’m not convinced Freo’s system was massively better than ours, or that our connection or effort was off - just one of those games (like last week) that could have gone either way. I’m trying to be pragmatic about it but I figure it’s much better to be going at 60-70% now than at 100% now and run out of legs in September. If we get to the bye at 8-5 it’s not a terrible spot to be in all things considered.

  7. Largely spiritless and bland performance. Reminded me a lot of 2020 - haphazard connection forward of centre and lack of a clear plan to mark inside 50. Dominated large parts of the third but kept kicking it to  no one.

The Lever free (probably the worst of a terrible bunch) just accelerated the anti-momentum.

Bye has come at a good time. Time to reset and learn to embrace being hunted.

  8. People are hard to please. We’re 10-2 and playing barely average football. It’s impossible to be up for 23 weeks.

Sydney played out of their skin tonight and we were two free kicks and a bit of composure away from winning the game. Keep the faith.

I just don’t understand the reasoning behind this, firstly I actually don’t mind the “tradition” of Blues v Tigers to open the season on Thursday. Secondly Wednesday has got to be the least fan/family friendly hour, which means (as we have seen) fans will AGAIN miss out. At least a Friday/Saturday provides the weekend to recuperate and give kids some rest, Wednesday is ridiculous for everyone.

Total fail from the AFL and I really wish Pert/the club had fought this to see passed the tv coverage numbers.

The reasoning is that without TV, we don’t have a game.

I actually don’t mind it from a footy perspective. It means we get the Blues in round 2 off an 8 day break and another likely 8 day break into round 3.

We’re a prime time club playing attractive footy. I’d get used to the night-time marquee *TV* slots for the next 5 years.

Lol Gary just loves to sink the boots in at times doens't he?

I understand it's his job but sometimes I can hear the joy in his voice when we're down

He actually loves the club. He’s just frightened of being labelled as biased. So when he sinks the boots in, it helps the ‘unbiased’ narrative.
