This is a pretty [censored] poor thread. I was not a Mark Neeld fan but to start a thread purely to [censored] kick him is [censored] weak. Mark Neeld has moved on and so have we.
Paul Roos was right all along with the negative veil that supporters still carry.
Hard to forget history though.
Negativity will be lifted when we can beat the wooden spoon team or are no longer completely lost on the other side of town (docklands).

Can a dead horse be flogged twice? This is the pre game speech when we lost to Essendon by 148 points.
That's depressing stuff. Worse to lose to their seconds team this year.

Question now is the new guy going to be any good?

A 28 year old Liam Jurrah wouldn't hurt either...
Forgot about that guy too! Might have kept Howe in the forward pocket so those two can compete for the highlight reel

You'd have to wonder if he didn't injure his foot what a forward line of Clark/Hogan/Watts/Garlett would be like... Guess we wouldn't have drafted Weidemen if that was the case tho
Add in young gun Petracca tearing it up at half forward flank. We can only drool...

Don't get people thinking Pendles was stiff. he was below his usual best this year and carried an injury
you dont get in on reputation alone.
Yeah, big deal if he misses out. What about all those years when our captain courageous was in career best form and carried our team on his own. Should have deserved 1 or 2 AA!
Well done to Maxy though!

At the time, we were all excited about picking up Mitch Clark. Dean Bailey was sacked after we lost by about 200 points to the Cats.
We had room in our salary cap and it was the right move at the time to land a big name player who could make us a finals team.
Traded away pick 12 (we had 12 the previous year and drafted Lucas Cook!)

Collingwood won that trade, just.
The club that keeps on giving. Dawes, Lumumba and Kennedy. Surprised that they havent tried to trade Swan before he retired.

He is a talented kid from Marcellin/Ivanhoe. Was friends with my cousin. Seen him play a couple of games but failed to impress. I wonder if he has the hunger to succeed at AFL level. If he comes cheaply why not, but may only be a fringe player.

Yeah, going to Port, remember?
That's what I heard too. Joining his mate Ollie. Port says thanks but wants to give Jimmy back.

Both Dawes and Cloke are deadwood. One can't kick, other can't get his hands on the ball.
Collingwood supporters are talking first round draft pick for Cloke or trade for Rance. It's madness dealing with this mob.

Is it just me or does anyone else think of Adem Yze when they watch Salem?

Sounds more like a romantic appeal than anything, like Ablett playing one last year at the cats.
Personally, I am backing our boys to go up a level next year. Jones, Viney, Gawn, Watts, Vince will be great leaders. Are we lacking some class? Possibly and thats what we should look for.
Experience will come with more games into the kids.

Strange idea. I would have thought after three years of Roos leadership that the culture at the club would have improved. Surely we are at a stage where we don't need to recruit some has-been player and instead rely on our own to take the initiative.
Crossy was great for us three years ago. We don't need him now? He or Thommo wont win a premiership for us.
If the goal is to recruit him as an assistant coach and the only way to land him here is to offer him a year's playing contract, then by all means.

Hey guys, as a hypothetical.. do you think things would have been different if we selected Trengove first then Scully second in the 09 draft?
I remember at the time that we weren't sure who we would have selected first until the day.
Would GWS have targeted Trenners instead?

If his heart is at the Melbourne Football Club, he should re sign with the club as soon as possible.
Surely we know by now that the later players put off contract talks (Scully, Frawley, Ablett, Dangerfield, etc etc), the more likely they are not staying.
We all love the kid and hope he stays and wins us premierships in the next how many years, but we have to make the best decision for the club. If it involves trading him while his currency is high, we shouldn't be scared of it.
So answer is.. he's got to let us know! Don't drag it until next season.

Hi first time post here!
Our record with ex Bombers doesn't seem too flash. Thinking Chris Heffernan, Gary Moorcroft, and now Jake who hasn't been allowed to play for a whole year!
I hope we don't trade big here.

By the way, he had no issues with extending his contract middle of 2014 for another two years when there was interest from Freo at the time.
Why would he be delaying this time round? Wait another year to see if he could fall in love with Melbourne, or is his heart already set to go home?
For sure there are guys who wait until the end to recommit, but my guess is they are waiting to field more offers (eg jeremy howe). Hogan would already have offers from other clubs albeit informal
