  2. Rivers had 16 disposals at 100% efficiency, 2 contested marks and 3 score involvements playing at half back and last week he had 20 disposals at 90% efficiency, 4 score involvements and another contested mark. Not sure his IQ is much of a problem at this stage, he seems to make really good decisions with the ball in hand.

  5. Understandable. As Steve said, he has a solid foundation due to his strengths. His biggest "problem" is that he's always going 100% but we could use that. Besides, I'd rather his current weakness was disposal as opposed to spatial awareness and decision making because some things you can't teach. Also, I'd take a 50/50 chance to hit an open target over 67788 handpasses per game
  6. Absolutely not. I understand the speculation, but given Watts returned early from a torn hamstring and had a few bad games as a result, I'm not going to make as much of it as most people sdid. How about Gawns return from injury? His end to the season wasn't very good at all. It can happen and as unfortunate as it is, has happened to someone who's spent his entire career under the microscope in Wattsy. Besides, it's not like he had many opportunities against North and GWS. I just hope that in future when Watts is having trouble getting into the game, Goodwin doesn't just keep him in the forward line when he can make an impact on the wing / half back flank with his high IQ, terrific evasion and elite footskills given the move is made. And of course, if someone offered as something huge, I'd take it but I wouldn't openly be shopping him. Besides, someones trade value is higher if the club vying for his services thinks the players club wants to keep him so providing we are looking to trade him I hope we leave that to the media
  7. Hamish Brayshaw racked up 30 disposals, 8 marks, 11 tackles and kicked 5 goals in TAC Cup this past weekend. He had a really good season for the Sandringham Dragons last year and has been exceptional in the games he's played for them this year and with that in combination with the solid level he's played at in the VFL this year, he's a smokey. Andrew Brayshaw will probably be gone before pick 20 but we'd most likely be able to take him with pick 10. At this stage I don't think we will though but with a strong finish to the season and a strong showing at the combine it is absolutely possible. As others have suggested, Bailey Fritsch is a huge possibility. I'd rather we took him with our 3rd round pick just because of out of him and the other prospects lingering in that area, he is most likely to slide due to the fact he is a mature-age player (although barely) but of course, that could be being greedy. If Melbourne has him as the best player at that point in the draft, 100% snap him up. Noah Balta is a 194cm 92kg key defender who is a chance to be taken with our 2nd pick. He's a top 20 prospect but is a defender so it's entirely possible he slides a bit. If we don't get Jake Lever I think we might consider picking him up. For his size he's fast and agile and is a monstrous kick of the footy. He's also smart and we could do with a smart key defender. Jack Petruccele's ceiling is very high. Dylan Moore is small but he has elite fitness and looks like a real competitor. Charlie Constable could slide and if he does, would be worth the selection. I think with the 10th pick we'll go for need which is a speedy outside midfielder who is a good kick, and with the 27th either best available or someone who has real X factor. Or maybe just Hamish Brayshaw so that his brother comes to the Dees when his contract expires Looking forward to the draft
  8. It's somewhat acceptable if you look at it from a who-we-versed viewpoint but when considering how the actual games themselves played out we should be 4-0. Most people are in agreement that Melbourne, having kicked straight, win the game against Geelong. I agree. We versed Fremantle at the MCG, were in front at half time by 21 points and conceded 7 goals in the third to go into the final quarter 22 points behind, which is disappointing. Defeating St. Kilda by 30 odd points was a great result. Defeating Carlton, as we should have, was a decent result. Our games vs. Geelong and Fremantle for excellent despite goal-kicking / lapses in concentration. So there are positive signs The season is just getting started, and we are a young side, so I think we'll get better as the season progresses like we did last year. As for the Gawn issue, Spencer was dominated in the hit outs against Sandilands, the best in the game at that now that Gawn's injured, but the only ruckman to have over 20 hit-outs against Sandilands this year is Patrick Ryder, who is a terrific tap ruckman himself, so that says nothing about Spencers ability as a ruckman. Spencer should at the very least be competitive against most other ruckman in the competition, and although we won't have the same dominance in that area with him as we would Gawn, with our midfielders, breaking even in the hit-outs, we should still be at an advantage over most sides in the stoppages. Consistency is the key, and I personally see it coming together in the foreseeable future. We'll learn from the losses and end Richmonds 4 game win streak and shut their increasingly arrogant fanbase up quick fast

  10. I see what you're saying but I'd rather we gave someone a chance via the draft. We've picked up some good late picks in the past and Aaron Black appears to have peaked in his development, besides, I don't see where he fits in the team. Not worth the punt imo.
  11. Great call haha. Well done to McDonald, he deserved it. Hunt was a bit stiff, but there can only be one.
  12. I feel bad for Brisbane as a club as well as it's fans and think they are in dire need of the pick. Although I doubt they'll get it and even if they do, that player sticking around would be a victory in itself . Their resurgence is dependant upon bringing in quality youngsters and securing top talent, and at this stage, they need all the help they can get.
  13. Well it has to happen, and will soon. I personally am still buzzing because of the win but with three rounds to go, the thought does cross ones mind.
  14. If I were in charge of list management I'd be looking to either move on or delist the following: Max King, Ben Newton, Viv Michie, Chris Dawes, Jack Grimes, Dean Terlich which leaves two spots on the rookie list and four picks in the draft discluding potential trades, which of course will come into consideration. Give Mitch White anther year, he has potential and we've already invested two years into him. Jack Trengove another year as well, unless a good trade option comes up and I expect it will. ANB, DEFINITELY keep. No question about it. He'd be averaging almost if not over 30 possessions a game in the VFL and it is his second year in the system. No idea how his name entered this discussion. Keep Matt Jones and Cam Pederson, both have their weaknesses but are reliable back-ups, the former being apart of the best side we can field if he can just get improve on his ball use.
