Weve gone at them (players) i gather because of Goodwins relationship when coaching just as Roos tried to pillage Swans when took job. They know the players.

I know off topic but geez when u think about the lack of punishment dished up to Essendon it just makes the mind boggle. Absolutely smacks of corrupt dictatorship from the afl when u think back to the punishment Adelaide received not too long ago.

    Even Carlton copped worse!

That is so stupid. In the 2012 and 2013 drafts the AFL took away their 1st and 2nd round picks for both years. That would have been losing a pick 8,26 and 10,28. That effects any list tremendously. They also finished 7th in 2013 but were kicked out of the finals. Also copped a $2mill fine. And lastly banning 34 players from playing any kind of football for a whole year. That is no lack of punishment.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on here and I don't have a subscription to the HUN, sounds interesting.

"Hibberd likely to leave Bombers for Dees

BANNED Essendon defender Michael Hibberd is likely to request a move to Melbourne in a decision that could trigger a trade standoff between the clubs. The Herald Sun understands the Demons are increasingly confident of landing Hibberd, who has"

Has been posted a few times and is utter dribble

  3. I do know that trying to force hibberd/hurley to walk for nothing is the best option for us. But, I'm 100% sure that won't happen. Especially hurley, he is not leaving. Hibberd may leave, he may not, but I know for sure he isn't going to go down the grievance path, none of them will. Someone mentioned we be hard nosed about negotiating becuase they deserve nothing less. We all know how they operate, we can't win that battle, we will have to satisfy them unfortunately.

If they 'walk' via the Grievance Tribunal' procedure it is not to the psd.  Its is directly to the club of their choice as a DFA ie no draft picks of any sort are offered and Ess do not get a compensation pick either.

Fair point. That won't happen imo

Maybe, will be interesting to see. Goodwin might play hard ball, especially if Hibbert is offered significantly more by us. Melksham would be in his ear as well, I'm sure. Why would a player respect a club that hasn't respected them?

Fair point but one of melksham does not equate to the 30 or so essendon players doing the same thing. Indeed it will be interesting. I believe nobody will walk via psd because they all still love and want to play for the club.. it's just a matter of some players (hibberd) potentially wanting more money than essendon are willing to pay.

So it's okay for the club to totally disrespect them and take away a year of their footballing careers, but it's not okay for them to be able to walk away from the club to play elsewhere?  What tosh.

Where did I say it is not okay for any of the 12 to ask to go via the psd. All i'm saying is it will not happen.

You must be an essenscum supporter.

The human mind doesnt work as a collective like that.

If they claim they were duped into taking illegal drugs that the club refuses to disclose, but they refuse to break from that club,  then they knew.

I don't consider it a generalisation at all.

That is disgusting I bleed blue and red. But I do feel sorry for essendon because of the ill-informed hatred they get from every other club's supporters. Too many people read a Herald Sun headline bagging essendon and they form that same view. It's just annoying to see stupid arguments proposed by non-essendon fans based on the dribble the herald sun write.

Er, can't he just claim to be a delisted free agent? Why offer Essendon anything? I was under the impression that the banned players could claim breach of contract and walk to the club of their choice. They are shlt to deal with, so no great loss if we burn that bridge.

Apologies if this has already been discussed in detail.

None of the 12 will do that. Bank it. They will not disrespect essendon like that even after what they have been through.

Please expand. as I have my hopes up after reading about the Hurley/Hibberd package defection.

Please Dees, for the love of god, and for the entire AFL, take these blokes off the drug cheats for zero cost.  Then the essedon supporters can whine all they like, as we collect flags, while they collect early draft picks.

Think real though... they aren't going to leave Essendon for nothing. Why can't people on here think with their brains and not with their heart. I know it's hard, but he all have to be realistic

I think we have a great core of youngsters and need to add good players through trade and free agency to help push us into the top 8 next season.

Hibberd, Hurley, Daw, Prestia, O'Meara, Mitch or Nathan Brown, Daniel Merrett.

These are all guys we should be looking at to possibly bring in.

    - Hurley, would be great but don't like our chances

    - Hibberd, yes please

    - Daw, can't believe people rate him, DUD

    - Prestia, ooo yes please

    - O'Meara, no doubt a gun, but would have to offer big, and is a big risk considering he has terrible knee issues and hasn't been on the park for two years. Would like him, but a risk

    - I think Mitch Brown is better than Nathan

    - Daniel Merrett no thanks

  11. Just to set some things straight... I will post a realistic comment.

Both Hurley and Hibberd do not want to leave Essendon, however they are asking for 'x' amount of money/years etc and it is up to Essendon to match their demands. So walking away from Essendon Paddy Ryder style will certainly not happen.. if they were to leave, they respect the club enough to go via trades etc (like carlisle did). Many inside and outside the Essendon sanctum are very confident that Hurley will/has  sign/re-commit. Which is disappointing from our perspective if true, because he is the missing piece of our puzzle.

On another note, would anyone be interested in Tayte Pears? We could get him for so cheap due to how little he has done in his career due to injury, but many know he has good football inside of him, he just hasn't had a good run at it. Essendon fans seem to joke about him and aren't particularly worried if he does or doesn't stay at Essendon next year. I mean if we get him for cheap, with a bit of luck and no injuries he could seriously be a good key defender in partnership with TMAC

4 years may not automatically mean big bucks though.

If he has the disposal that many here say he has, and he can find the ball as often as his stats suggest, then I am all for chasing him. Good dispoal, and often, out of half back, will win us games. Its what our entire game plan is based on now.

Fair point. I am more than happy to take him, as long as he isn't asking for that big money contract
