No worries big fella, just my opinion. Not worth arguing about it. Edit - goal umpires can, and have, made mistakes in the past... but I digress.
-
I reckon if you look closely, you'll see the spin of the ball change as it goes past the post. You can see it on the replays. Deserves to be a goal for the sheer brilliance of it, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it might have shaved the post.
-
Yep, especially with where we are at as a club now. A few years back you might look at it as support for players coming through, but we need to recruit players who will help turn us into a premiership threat, not have us treading more water.
-
He took a few clubs for a ride that year, including us. To be fair we didn't exactly make our club an attractive place to play for at the time, so you couldn't blame him for not wanting to come to us.
-
So why do we want Taberner? They don't rate him, and they've been a side that have chased every key forward under the sun for years. So if he can't get a run, why would he get one with us? Makes no sense to me. If we want to recruit players, we want them to be best 22. We need to improve our side, not just simply add to our depth. That will happen when we recruit good players and we push others out.

Hard to choose. I'd like to go with Oliver but I reckon it clipped the post. For sheer joy I would go with Watts first, with McDonald a very close second.
-
I agree with all of this, especially his flexibility with positioning and his willingness to change things up when needed. I do think he was a little stubborn with the overall gameplan, in terms of having the two coming off the back of the square. It worked in the first half of the year but teams started working it out in the second half of the year. He needed to make a few tweaks but seemed to just stick with it. It really came back to haunt us in the North and GWS games when the conditions called for something different. I think he'll learn from that though and they will develop a plan B and C over the course of the summer to be ready for it next time.

You'll hold on to any reason in the hope a star player might choose you as a destination club. At least these days we have some reasons based on fact and not just hope.
-
Why would Freo, a team that is not necessarily blessed with tall forward talent, give up one of them for Dean Kent? Makes little sense.
-
I think that was all in our heads. He was a Melbourne supporter so, naturally, we thought we were a chance. We didn't even make the final 3 sides in his selection process.
-
Normally the selections aren't too bad, but they buggered up big time this year. Some seriously baffling selections. Couldn't agree more, Ralphy. I know some will say that it's a team that will never play a game, but at the same time it needs to selected like a side that would. Rance being captain makes me want to vomit. There are 15 blokes in there you make captain before him.

Extremely well deserved. Is already up there as one of the best half backs we've had in decades. His run and carry, searing left boot and defensive abilities have all combined to make him one of the first picked on the team sheet. Not surprised Jetta and Garlett missed out, but good reward for them to be named as part of the 40 man squad.

There is no way we can even try to understand some of the decisions we made back in those days. They were made by headless chooks.
-
I was going to say the same thing. Even though all those people are gone, it would still leave a sour taste in your mouth. I reckon he would be looking at the Bulldogs, as he will want to be the number one ruckman. Most Vic clubs have that covered.

Melbourne's Communication and Online
Wiseblood replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jordan Lewis also spoke openly about it last night on 360, and he did it quite well. What else do we want? Goodwin regurgitating the same thing? I think it's very clear that they know they've let themselves, the club and the entire supporter base down. Now they need to respond on the track and on the field. We don't need more words after this, only actions. -
Yep, agree with that. Crows will want to play hard ball and it will take a fortnight to get done.
-
If we can hold on to our first pick and still get Lever then we've made out like bandits, and that's assuming we don't give up someone of quality as well. If we get Lever then I think we can say goodbye to our first rounder. Crows will want that as a minimum IMO. Still, there is always some gold to be found in the later rounds and Taylor has proven that he can find it.
-
He doesn't do much for me either, in that he is not the type of player we need. We need a key defender and, potentially, some outside run as well (if we can get it). Rockliff gives us neither.
-
Agreed. If McVeigh has any footy left in him you would expect him to land at a club that felt it needed to fill a gap for a year or two to help the kids comes through - think Carlton, Gold Coast or Brisbane. We don't fit that bill.
-
Just like WYL and jrnmac run after you like little puppies, liking your posts as well? And I'll reiterate what Nasher added - just because I see things in a slightly more positive way does not mean I don't see the need for improvement as well, something I've added many times over the last few days

Is there anything left for supporters to complain about this week? Jack Watts cause global warming? Nathan Jones contributing to Donald Trump's bad leadership of America? Anything? I've got three memberships and they'll be rolled over again this year. Hugely disappointed about what happened on the weekend, but chucking in my memberships over it seems childish.

Oh, Steve. Where is that sense of humour? Or is being arrogant and pompous all you know how to do? It must be tough, standing up there on your pedestal above us peasants while you preach to us of your brilliant, unrivaled knowledge of our game. Every time I see you post it reminds me of this: Have a super summer, big fella.
-
Thick until the end, hey jnr? You always seem to turn up at the wrong time, looking to give some sort of cutting response, yet you make yourself look foolish. Couldn't be more further from the truth. I'll cop the Garland reference on the chin, but O Mac? Nah. I may have defended the criticism he takes weekly, but he's hardly my 'love child' as you so cleverly put it.
-
Can you teach me how to be a better supporter, O brilliant one? Do I need to yell more? Pot more players? Do I need to blame Jack Watts in more threads? Drink more Woodstock cans instead of a bottle of red? Please tell us as you are clearly a better supporter than most.

Am I the only one who expected this list to go: 1. Oscar McDonald 2. Oscar McDonald 3. Oscar McDonald
