It was a great move. We were a VFL club in an AFL competition with no money, no credibility, no nothing. We had to get him, or someone of his stature, at any cost.

More power to him; without that appointment we wouldn't have a club now.

I read this alot on this forum that jacko got roos, how do you know this, oh did jacko tell you. What happens if your actually wrong..

  2. Very sad to see a woman who claims to support women, be the puppet of a group of white priviledge men,who think that their money and colour gives them a right to terorize the people trying to do a their job. This article is full of falsehoods designed to cause distress and disruption. It is highly defanitrory and her sources ( which she basically reveals ) in all her articles about melbourne, if you read closely you will see a pattern. nothing in this article is true at all. What is true is that she has shown her cards, that is, her premise as a sport journalist is based on pushing the agenda for a small group of white privilegde men, who think they are entitled to impose themselves into footy clubs for their own egos, whilst sitting in portsea and sorento. Shame on you Caro, this group of men and yoursself are not melbourne. There a 40,000 plus members that are just as important , rich or not, no matter wehere they come from, we are all  important. Footy is not for just a small group of white men, who are you are matey with, it belongs to everyone.

Hasn’t exactly brought in 6 that will improve the side though, has he?

Really Gawn Jones and Rivers are upgrades you can debate other 3 but Even Brown might have a night out or kick a couple and our defensive structure did look a bit better at times with Omac so a bit harsh to bag all 6 changes IMO

    Shocking thread.

    Mods please delete

I agree Dazzle people forget how bad our list was in 2014 and we now have a list capable of challenging - I don’t understand how the mods can let a thread with this title run deplorable

    Remaining Round 11 Games:

    • Tonight:  Cats vs Saints and Dockers vs Hawks
    • Tuesday night:  Crows vs Pies
    • Wednesday night:  Suns vs Ess

We are 9th on the ladder.  Have bolded the teams I would like to see lose to max our chances of overtaking them or be further ahead of them to make the 8.

The next three weeks are critical as we play Pies, Bulldogs and probably Ess (in Alice, a real Home game).  All are 8 - point games and all immensely winnable.

Dare I dream that after round 14 we are 8/5 ??

With so many 8-point games and lack of consistency among many teams will 9 wins be enough to make finals?

In rounds 15 to 18 we play: Freo, GWS, Saints and Swans.  I reckon we can get 9 or 10 wins.  Finals here we come?

Agree I think more likely it’ll be Freo in Alice but will have to wait and see

I don't mind Pert and you're probably right about Pert, RE: the media machine he's come from.

Your last two posts have been interesting to me though. One canning Jackson as a CEO and another championing Pert. Is that you, Gary?

No I wish Jackson was good for a period but I think he stayed too long and was a great  self promoter. I hate Collingwood but Pert gets bagged on here and I think he is a good CEO. Is that you PJ?

If I was part of the marketing department, I would definitely being advising a no BS approach. I'm sure that's what's been advised. I doubt Pert has too much say on that stuff, but maybe.

Seriously our media Dept production is so much better under Pert give credit where credit is due - he has a media background and has come out of a media machine. He delivered facilities at Collingwood and I think he will do same for us / I don’t understand why people seem to not rate him?

Season probably over now. Did it ever really start for us?

Time to see if Weid can take us anywhere.

Some decent signs but so many teams have passed us by.

How is season over ...we beat Port in 4 days were 4 and 4 but really 5 and 4 Bombers won’t get close to us and still then 8 games to go against very beatable oppo for us

the old oscar came out towards the end ... was in slow mo ... maybe a rest will help ... good post

Resting a key defensive player please NFI Oscar has a cruisy running style that is not the problem ...we need our defence playing together Q I have is Nev I’m even worried he’ll get knocked out shortly

Whilst our defence wasn't necessarily poor tonight they were really not at the standard we need them to be to challenge for finals

Dazzle et all are right we kept them to 53 points which is a premiership formula Harley Kozzie or Weids kick one of those gettables and we win - our defence is not the problem Oscar helps our structure end of story

Our defence was good, really stood up in the 2nd Q especially. Probably Jetta the only under pressure

Bennell, Jetta, Brayshaw, Jackson all under pressure.

Tom McDonald should come in. Jackson was good in the first but then went missing

    Rivers in for Jetta

get games into Jackson very impressive mobile big man

    McDonald in for Fritch

    Tomlinson or Sparrow for Harmes

I should say I’m a fan of all of the outs but they are all passengers at the moment

Good win, but we need to back it up. Hawthorn are in a different place to us. We need to beat a team in the 8 before we start thinking we are out of Hell. Its a good start and the game was enjoyable to watch.

Interesting comment thanks we beat Gold Coast who were and are in the 8 Carlton in the 8 this week should’ve beaten Top side Port today - agree Hawks in a different place but great club and Clarko dangerous any time but particularly after the pressure this week - don’t underestimate the win today and the talent on our list.  We just need to stay healthy keep up the effort and we can beat anyone - I’m suspecting we’re about to get on a roll ....and we have a game up our sleeve v Essendon who we will [censored] on a fast track in Queensland

What planet am I on?  Not aware of humans on any other planet. Not true, really.  Do you think he is going to pull out an MCG oval from outer space and plonk it in Jolimont. we have four options, rubbish. His working committee/partners are the same fools who wasted time and money of the Jolimont proposal.  As for spiritual home, maybe 50 years ago. Note how he did not specify any as it has to be top secret from members and supporters until the deal is done. And could someone tell him we do not play home away games on a Saturday arvo for supporters to go back to a social club after a game. just imagine the rush after a night game finishes or a Sunday twilight. Further there is no mobel anywhere that works where supporters leave a ground and then go to a social club. And I know for a fact things get pretty willing in Social Clubs after someone has been at the footy all day and then kicks on at the Club. Hardly good clientele. And you reckon I am from another planet.

Administrators this is the type of abuse based on falsities that gets sites shut down. If HFf listened the working party over last 6 months involves AFL and Vic Gov and Bartlett explained where Yarra Park came from.  Calling volunteers fools is disgraceful based on falsities - deal with HFF before they wreck this site for everyone

I'm happy to be incorrect, but my reading of the financials isn't aligning.  Where am I going wrong?

Im going from the 2019 financial report which goes up to 31 Oct 2019.  I assume the situation hasn't got better from there.

My view is that 8 Million is not in the bank, in fact its in negative territory:

"Cash at bank and in hand  225,508" but "Bank overdraft(322,944)"

"At 31 October 2019, the Club had a $400,000 (FY18: $400,000) overdraft facility with Westpac. At 31 October 2019 the overdraft facility was drawn down to the balance of $322,944 (FY18: undrawn). The overdraft facility will incur an interest rate of 7.69% per annum, with interest charged monthly"

I guess you could argue the other items listed as current assets, such as merchandise and food an beverage are "cash in the bank", but I really don't see that as the same thing.  There is $1million in financial assets, but it doesn't seem to say what they are.

I also disagree with your proposition that we have $8mil in the bank, and the Bentleigh Club as a freehold asset.  Im just guessing here, but I suspect that the Bentleigh Club is already included in the assets, titled as Land $8.7 million.

When you mention that debt is 2 mil down from eight.  Does that include selling the leighoak club for $7mil?

Stop wasting everyone’s time you haven’t got a clue just an agenda not one number you have quoted is correct

Odds of Grand Final in WA have shortened from 100,000-1 to 5,000-1.  Might get 60,000 at optus stadium versus nil at MCG. I don’t like it !!

Won’t happen no chance just something for footy nuts to talk about - tripartite contract and majority of parties hate WA
