Haven't read the last part of this thread. But if I watched the game again, I'm sure I would zone in on a memory of Watts in the pocket at some stage in the 2nd qtr where he waved a vague hand as a defensive effort and let someone run past him straight after. That's why he and Lewis don't get votes. And that is what my post was about - the Age votes. Harmes was just as important as Watts in turning the tide and doesn't get a remote mention. Pedo has being doing the same as Watts in the ruck but doesn't get the same apologies and pat on the back. Hibberd only got 7 as well in those Age votes and played for four quarters. You can't just pick and choose when to compete. That's the exact complaint of everyone on here - we don't rock up switched on. We're not committed. Jack Watts' contribution weighed up against Jack Watts' non-contribution for me adds up to trade.

Trade your membership mate or better still your brain, Watts was one of the best Saturday , some 'supporters' never content

The game report only talked about the players who did well.  Trengove wasn't mentioned so I don't think he is banging the door down.

I desperately hope he isn't finished as I would love to see him play in the seniors again.

Based on the Casey game report only Melksham (and maybe Stretch) sound like they might have earnt a return to the seniors.

Any other moves I think is just deck chairs on the titanic stuff.

ANB has to come in with Stretch and Melksham

Litreally just backed us at $6.25.. I knew we'd lose to Hawthorn, for some reason I have a feeling we will push Adelaide right to the line.

Edit: Did anyone else watch Lewis on 360 ? Said in key indicators we we right up there with the last 4 premiership sides but there are 2 areas we really need to improve & we are on the verge of it all clicking... Fingers crossed it's this week!

The fact is most of us knew we'd lose to Hawthorn, we always lose when we're supposed to win, we're so screwed up mentally and that is most frustrating thing about being a [censored] Melbourne supporter. Although we could go alright against Crows I don't think we will, like Hawthorn we've got them on the rebound from a shocking loss, Crows will win but it won't be a total thrashing but will be 30-40 points.

  4. Goodwin is doing ok, think he's still assessing where we're at, the most disappointing thing about last 2 weeks is disposal, mainly in the first half, has been pathetically weak, it's the most frustrating part of our game, its cost us at least 3 games this year

I dont know when it exactly started but there is some massive group think tidal wave regarding how talented the list is. No one has proven anything yet and all this hype stinks of 2010 for mine.

the list is no where near as talented as the group think line says. its fascinating to watch an opinion of a few gradually build to assumed fact, yet no one really stops to analyse.

at best this list is tooled to replicate Nths last few years. mid-lower top 8 at best. There is far too much talk and assumption of 'we just got to hang on until these kids get games in to them and we will be a great side'.

Its only 7 years since the last time i saw this play out in the media and on this site but it is eerily familiar. Our list is nowhere near as talented as some seem to be assuming.

And yes the predictable response to my pot will be "this list is more talented than 2010" - and yes i agree, it is. But thats not my point> The point is it is NOT as talented or as well positioned as many are assuming. Its a tough comp and most sides are as well or better placed for the future. - Collingwood and Stkilda included.

There is no way Collingwood has a better list than, no frickin way, Saints are on par but we did beat them if you remember. Hawthorn are not shyte, they've had some thrashings but that's mental, they've still got plenty premiership players. Our problem IS young players with not enough game time and the older blokes like Jones making stupid stupid mistakes

    JKH out, Kent in.

    TMac to CHF.

    I dunno... fmd

Reckon that could be worth a try, stick TMac down front for a go, Hibbo, Frosty, Nev and OMac can look after back half

How do you think Nathan Jones will be feeling? Another year of no finals just slipping away for him.

    Poor bloke.

He can only blame himself, he kicked directing to the shyte and wee at least 4 times in first half

Bulltish if he said that, I lost count of how many clean midfield clearances by Hawks resulted in scoring opportunities whilst we scrapped for every clearance!

Just watching replay, we did some brilliant stuff in third but just can't keep it up for longer than a quarter, it's bloody hard being a Melbourne supporter

  9. Truth be known it's been only first game when we played whole game of good footy, let leads slide against Richmond, just wasteful against Freo, Dawks and Cats, below average for half games against ESS and Carlton

TBH, not sure what those guys will really bring. None were incredible beforehand. I'm fairly certain Adelaide will get a cricket score. But yeah. There were only a few really terrible individuals this week. Goody is starting to annoy me.

Yeah starting to annoy me too but gotta stick with it I suppose, think he should give Roosy a call for a chat

    Pretty much.

Not to the result anyway. But we'll get back to just trying to play our brand now. And for that...

    In: ANB, Weed

    Out: Bugg, JKH

Weed only if he's right to go. We needed another tall leadup type. And if Lynch plays will need an extra tall as all of TMac Omac and Frost will have their hands full all day.

The Omac sooks are in fine voice yet again, and for absolutely no reason. Was pretty good today without starring with heaps of disposals. Frost was agony 1st quarter and ecstasy 3rd.

I've been defending JKH, but he's gotta go. Not quite doing enough to keep the ball in. It's a vital job in Goody's system and ANB does it better.

Bugg probably unlucky but he's had his two, and will be moved back again. Maybe also for Harmes or preferably Kent. Stretch also.

Wags will get a second game. Got lit up at one point and played it out. Looked a little off the pace, but that's how you go one game back from interrupted year.

Yeah thought OMac looked alright, took a few good marks, didn't make any mistakes, we're lacking in the forward line with JKH and Hannan doing nothing plus Watts playing on the ball, need Kent, Harmes, ANB and  Billy back

This one is going to get ugly. We barely get over the line against cellar-dwellers; good luck playing against the team averaging 135 points per game (especially after they suffered an embarrassing loss -- sound familiar?)

We'll get massacred this week, Crows at home on the rebound, us turning ball over time and time again

    JKH, Bugg, Hannan out

    Kent, ANB, Stretch in

I thought I cashed in on selling Hogan at a high price to many of you.  When all of you salivated squared.  Done the same with Jordan Lewis.  You guys are Alan Bond with rose coloured glasses.  Kerry Packer said there was only one Alan Bond transaction in a lifetime; not here.

Lynch and Daniher have flown past him...I think that is well accepted.  Hogan will have his days, but only when the moons align.  Can't build a flag tilt around that.

    Jesse Hogans's father passes away

The Importance of this guy is huge in our side with out a doubt. After last night and both the Freo and Geelong games it is clear that his calmness and leadership when the opposition comes hard is bigger than we think. Not insinuating that no Lewis no Melbourne or Lewis the messiah, but his leadership under pressure and when other teams press hard is going to be vital for The Hunts, Olivers and Petraccas and their careers. The best part is Lewis doesn't need 30 possessions a week just his expertise and footy professionalism at the contest is super for our club. Can't wait for his return.

On a side note Michael Hibberd was a sight for sore eyes last night brilliance kicking out of defence was mouth watering.

who are all these Hunts, Petraccas and Olivers? when footy people talk in plurals, to quote Teryy Wallace, if I hear it  "I'll  spew up"

    Hibberd was good though

Do Eagles players ever get suspended? Can't remember the last one.

Le Cras gets off with a fine because of 'low Impact'.  Because the player he collected to the head got up and played out the game it was classed as 'low impact'. Now, didn't the Hogan and Lewis 'victims' get up and play out the game? Problem was they were not wearing a blue and yellow jumper. Talk about inconsistent penalties.
