    Brilliant Post.

Go back and watch the last 30-40 mins of the last 10 or so games. Its 4 quarters of footy. Not 2.5 or 3.

The same story, week in and week out.

But as long as they tried, thats all that matters right?

That is the coaches fault, why do we only play 2-3 quarters a week, there’s a complete lack of motivation from the players and the coaching does nothing to rectify this, Goodwin is not up to it, get rid of him!

We have had poor disposal before this year. It didn't just happen in 2019 because Goodwin can't coach. Sorry to pop your little bubble

Yes we have, but it’s not just poor disposal, it’s bombing into forward line, not even looking to pass it to one of us, it’s complete lack of motivation, basically putting in for 60 min in a game then giving up, you’re right, it’s not just poor disposal it’s everything, and there’s  no signs of rectifying any of the problems!!

I support the Melbourne Football Club. I always have. I also support Simon Goodwin.

I have supported Melbourne from before I can remember. I love the Melbourne Football Club. My favourite player is Robbie Flower R.I.P. My favourite current player is Jake Melksham. I can't wait to see him play again this Saturday.

I was born in the month after Melbourne's last premiership victory in 1964. I have never seen Melbourne win an AFL/VFL day premiership. I endured ridicule from my classmates throughout my 12 years of schooling for barracking for Melbourne. The ridicule has not stopped.  It was hell being a Melbourne supporter in the 70s and 80s. During this time, my father took my brother and me to football games aligned with our opposing teams. Hawthorn enjoyed great success then, and they usually won. Melbourne usually lost.

    How to recover...

Melbourne  and this exacerbated Melbourne's to ameliorate the needs o f watch Robbie Flower. As a young boy he meant everything to me as afootbaleeJacko... And the Wizard... And Jokovich.... He endured as a goal kicking talent and indeed superb entertainment throughout a depressing period of the MFC which included the return of coach Ronald Dale Barassi and his inability after his spectacular success at North Melbourne to do the same at the MFC. ite this, and in the decades following same, I have remained steadfast in my support of the the greatest and oldest sporting club in the world.rne didn't.

In 1987, after finally breaking through and winning one of the first night Grand Finals against Essendon, I ran onto the ground (with thousands of other Melbourne supporters) at VFL Park when Melbourne beat Essendon in the 1987 VFL Night Grand Final. I got to touch the Premiership Cup. That was a night of elation and optimism. A time of hope.

We came close again in the day competition that year (1987) but lost the infamous preliminary final after the siren against the Hawks. It steeled us to make the GF the next year but once again the Hawks were too good in 1988. Melbourne and Essendon were particularly strong

In the finals (2018), we beat Geelong and Hawthorn. Think about that for a moment.

These were two sides that had smashed us for almost two decades and to defeat them in front of 90,000 people (the majority of which were Melbourne supporters.

Add this: Aussies smashing Poms in the Ashes.

    Poms truly [censored] WEAK.

Goodwin is not the man for the job, we have been playing the same football all year and he has been unable to rectify our pathetic disposal. He’s had ALL YEAR to do something about it and has done nothing, we should give Roos $2 million to come back for 3 years. Goodwin is a ‘nice guy’ but he’s a useless coach, if we are going to do anything next year we need to get rid of Goodwin!!!!!

Perfect time for the Club to fire a shot across the bow.

Drop Viney or Brayshaw, maybe both.

It is so unfair to be dropping the usual battlers who do not have much talent to begin with all the time. We need to drop back a few players with top line talent who are not performing their role to the required standard. What is fair for one is fair for all.

Wagners both need to be dropped and not played again, our problem is our bottom 6 players are trash, Wagners, OMac, ANB, Baker and Smith were absolute rubbish, it’s the difference between winning and losing! Baker is young and will be a good player, the other 5 are not worth persevering with!

It's alright though! We've had injuries, and there's always next year! Besides, pick 2 on the horizon! Look on the bright side! Goodwin is the man! etc etc

In all honesty, the further the season progresses, the worse it gets.

We're going to finish below Carlton. I don't give a [censored] what the variables are. Or how many injuries we've had. It's abhorrent. It's a [censored] disgrace where we are.

Goodwin should be presenting and raising the stakes for his own and the team's KPIs for 2020. He and is football department have utterly destroyed the fabric, albeit thin one, that had been established by Roos and Jackson. I can accept a drop after 5 years of linear growth consider where we were. But where we are now...it's inexcusable. Jones, Gawn, TMac, Lewis should be embarrassed. Leadership onfield has been pathetic.

I'm giving Goodwin 16 matches to turn it around. And that's generous considering how much of a [censored] mess this team is in right now.

I give him 10 games next year, if we are less than 5 wins he can pack his bags, sick of this [censored]

We are the laughing stock of the AFL & if it wasn't for GC we would finish last!

Lived through so many embarrassing periods since the 70s & this club just continues to find a way to bring misery to its members/supporters!

Heads need to roll from our conditioning staff,  to our coaches & serious questions of our leadership inc Goodwin on how such a fall has occurred!

Pert will need to show what his made off & make the changes needed or the misery will continue!

Whats another year in  5 decades!

Needs to be an investigation into what happened this year, letting Roos go after 3 years was a mistake, should have given him 2 million to stay on. Don’t think Goodwin is up to it!!!!

The most predictable club in the AFL...

    >  Don't play with much intensity early or if we do and our chaos game is on we still miss plenty of early shots at goal and concede a significant or largish lead to the opp by quarter or half time.

    > Fight back a little, maybe even get nose in front and get some supporters a little more interested / excited.

    > Drop away in intensity, composure, run and finish when the heat is on in the tight contest from about half way through the third onwards.

    > Add a few clangers straight back to the opp allowing them to get a few relatively easy joe the goose or sling shot goals on the run to ice the game and take the pressure off.  The opp then goes into slow tempo possession mode to ice the game, something we are incapable of for more than a few kicks..

    > Goodwin presser where he will likely say "we are slowly but surely getting back to the Melbourne way" and "there are some positive things we can take away from this".

Rinse and repeat the following week*

*Excluding Gold Coast where we might win and get VERY excited both in the post match celebrations, the rooms and presser and those easily pleased on D'land.

    Exactly, mentally soft

Like last week and many other games this season no matter how competitive and strong we are during the game we toss it away in the last quarter. We rarely look like winners at the death.

Melbourne football club are mentally weak, I knew when scores were level we’d get beaten by 12-24 points, we have got a losing mentality

Hannan, Anb, Lockhart, Jetta, Dunkley, pruess were non existent to horrible. Hard to win with 25% of your team handicapping you

ANB, Hannan, Lockhart must be dropped, first two are a waste of space, Lockhart needs a break at Casey

You are probably right and I have been calling for his head as well but I noticed him at the ball a lot today so he seemed to stand out.

Reckon if Spargo got properly fit and turned fat into muscle he’d be a good rover forward pocket

    Weed presented well too.

I thought we kind of played ok, they were at it and only lapses let the filth get a few easy goals, still some players who are dismally out of form, like Viney, Jones, McDonald, and players who shouldn’t be in there, Spargo, Wagner. Hannan was dodgy but he’s just coming back, and I reckon Lever and May will be absolute guns for us if they stay on park. Blokes in middle still doing it for us and Petracca was good too... keep them on park, get Milkshake and VDB back we’ll win 5-7 more games this year!!

I will say it again We are horrible.

What the hell are they doing at training??

    Cant pass, kick or mark.

    PATHETIC.

How the hell does Garlett and Spargo get a game ahead of Preuss.

    Its mind boggling.

Pruess must get a game next week, [censored] to death of Wagner, Spargo getting games before him, Goodwin must stop playing favourites, and play deserving players

  13. Max is a champion player, never stops giving, he must be captain next year, Jack needs to step back and work on his game, he needs one focus, and that is playing good football, at the moment he’s not!!

And the oldest team in the comp, who have no right to be playing like 22 year olds, are undefeated and on top of the table.

I'm starting to think that age profile is meaning less and less as the seasons go on.

I don’t think we should be so hard on Stretch. He is really only playing because we have so many injuries. He has played 40 odd games at AFL level which is an achievement not too many on here have done, and despite his limitations he always gives 110% and is noted as a very professional footballer, attitude wise.  To call him a “hopeless AFL footballer” is just disrespectful IMO.

Absolutely dude, get sick to death of 'experts' on this forum continually having their whipping boys, ANB and Wagner's are far worse than Stretch, at least Billy touches the ball

No one could see T.MAC having the year that he's had. Weid needs time.

Exactly, TMac will be back, and Weideman only needs to get his hands on it 10 times a game, he can kick goals

Pruess definitely being held over for Thursday and Stretch and Hore stayed on the bench for the entire first quarter. Casey is playing worse than the seniors. Slow, cannot hit a target, badly beaten on the outside and very few who look like they will press for senior selection

Reality is, Stretch and Maynard only 2 who’ve done anything
