Expect a lift everywhere. But for a few last game, we were so flat. I don't know what happened but we looked very ordinary on our own turf. Ill pay that we played last year's runner's up but something went wrong somewhere. Tonight there's no where to hide and no excuses. No fatigue . Our midfielders need to get back to winning the centre clearances and stop teams connecting with all Maxy's tap wins. Our forward line needs to get cracking. If we can't hold our marks then they need to follow up with non stop tackles and pressure. Hopefully Olivers much better after his operation and Kozzie bolsters our pressure acts. I'll back Petts to come out firing and have a big game in the absence of Bbb. The focus is all on us tonight not the tigers. If we are a top four team then we need to have a comfortable win this evening. Enjoy the game ladies and gents. Especially those of you there. Cheers.

Was worth it reading some of the stories. But sad too. Enjoy the evening and day tmrw NC. -
Pints have really caught on. Even in trendy Wollongong they are all the go. Such a wonderful standard unit of measurement where one can swear in good conscience in a court of law that "I'd only had a couple of beers".

Will be happy hour around 9 to 10 pm hopefully. I wouldn't call that cheap but haven't bought a beer in Melbourne for a while.

There is a wonderful scene from one of its episodes. Unfortunately I can't recall which one. But I'll set the scene. Beaver one afternoon had done something wrong and the Father at dinner time gave him a stern dressing down. The next scene at breakfast the next day has the mother saying to the father..... "Gee you were a bit hard on the old beaver last night".

Lest we forget mate. That is an incredibly fascinating story where it could be argued that one of Australia s premier airline had its inception from a couple of decent card hands. What a savvy investment during a war. A portable camera in WW1 was a certain rare item that would be in high demand. Sending possible last photos of oneself to loved ones would make one pay a pretty Penny or Pound. My mom reckoned her dad never talked about the war either except the nurse who looked after him in a French hospital. Apparently my mom was named after her. Not sure how my Grandma thought about it all. -
I have to admit that was a damn good take out. Doh.

Made the same post in game day thread. My sister had two of my Grandfather's done. I think it was the department of defence. It's a great way to honour loved ones. And many Ww 1 haven't survived over the years. -
So impressed with Tmacs return to form. I just hope Bbb can back to how he was against the dogs. I thought Tmac was done and dusted but he has re.. reinvented himself down back again and doing a very solid job. As for Bbb I think he may have been hampered by his injuries again in his last two outings and so yea he sadly needs a break.

That's the same year my Grandfather died. We also called him pop or more specifically Poppy. I remember as a young kid my mother and I would pick him up every Friday Arvo from the Elsternwick RSL and take him home after he'd had a bellow load of beer. As a young kid that RSL club seemed to have the same ambience and reverence of our local Catholic Church. Funny the things that impress upon you as a youngster. Maybe they both knew each other. -
You know your getting old when you start thinking and believing that compulsory military service for all wayward teenagers is the balm for all our ills. Bring it on.

From some of the comments, it's clear this game is much more than a simple sports event. It should not take anything away from the day itself but for me its a prelude that provides flashes of memories of my mother's father...William Barker who fought in the Somme and was badly injured but happily survived and came back to Oz to start a family. Sadly he was a fanatical South Melbourne supporter in later years and tried to convert me as a young kid from following my dad's one true and only team. I suppose I'm one of the older members of the Dland community. I'm guessing there are quite a few younger ones who are possibly ex or current servicemen or women. Honour your relatives, loved ones or mate or even yourself with a deserving Dland shoutout. Lest we forget.

Well put Layzie. It's so important to honor our brave men and women who have in many cases paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy and in my case, I reckon don't appreciate enough how much they cost. I was wondering if people ever wear their or their ancestor's medals to this game? As for PSA, if people have lost or had ancestor's medals damaged or stolen you may be interested to know that you can apply to the defence department to have them replaced.

Beautifully put Palace Dees.

I know Bbb has struggled but I was I was kind of hoping he may get another chance. He looked good there earlier and alas I fear he won't recapture that form. Also Petts seems a little undone and Jvr has struggled to impact up forward. My kingdom for a functioning forward line. At least we have Fritta. I'm guessing it will be Laurie as the sub. Has he been performing at Casey? Good to see Turner in. I hope he gets a run. Hopefully the team make a statement after that horrible Lions loss and we have a big win. On a fine night anything less than thirty points will be disappointing somewhat. But I feel on reflection that may be asking too much. Our mids have struggled too Will Oliver be okay? This will be a very interesting game despite Tigers form and injuries.
-
I hope he's cherry ripe. It's not like they didn't play him nqr before his surgery. A fit and firing Oliver is essential to our success.

I hear what you are saying. But one could argue the same about Maynard. At the end of the day the only way to stop brains being damaged is to stop these bumps happening. Yes it will change the game but it's the price necessary to give these young men some safety at work.

People arguing TG was unlucky. Sheesh. Either the Afl is going to protect players heads or not. TG is an incredible player who can turn and elevate his body in a second to protect himself. He can also do the same to take a player out. He goes into contests knowing he has a way out. Quite frankly he was lucky to only get a week. I cant believe Gws are contesting. Make it two now. Kozzie got a week for much less.

Shotguns are very effective against magpies.

Sorry Wrecker, I can't help but would simply like to say thanks for sharing this. Love your your old man's passion and sense of humor. And loathe the filth that stole it. Best of luck replacing it.

I don't think this will be a cake walk. I know Richmond have been poor but it's a finals like atmosphere at these games and sometimes lowly opposition teams get the jump on the favourite. I hope we can make a big statement and totally obliterate them. Would love to see several of our forwards kick big bags. Especially Petts like last time.
