Has anyone come with a reason why for three of our last four games we really only showed up towards the ends of them? I'm mean full credit for seeing the games out and all but we do have a problem.
-
Yep , I'd say the apple didn't fall too far.
-
That was hard loss to swallow because I felt like we lost it three times. The start of lack of thereof. The umpires. And we just missed out by a point. Ps Blues fans are shockers with their booing and free kick entitlement. I wonder if the free differential is a result of big crowds swaying the umpires like the dobs we saw.

One of the best fwds about . And certainly ours.

Bowey?

I hope it's just his knee because he went missing this time last year for a considerable amount of games.

Umpiring (Demonland in meltdown)
leave it to deever replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some games just go against you . We started horribly. But Carlton in the wet could not miss a goal. The ball bounced their way. They got the benefit of doubt from umpires. It just happens. -
Did the five day break bite us on the backside. Interesting that a lot of the players who had big games last week were flat. Kozzie, Langdon, Lever, Fritta, Lever, Petty and Oliver in particular. That's quite a list.
-
Such a hard loss to accept. I mean because of our poor start. Just a point kicked and we draw but six goals zip is shocking. Plus they couldn't miss on a wet night. And the umps giving blues frees like candy . Then our fightback denied from us by umpires again. Worst of all are the booing blues fans as if they were hard done by. And then it's our talls fwd who were crushed. Apart from Fritta and Kozzie who gets put in the middle we don't have a fwd line. The fact that Tracca went there and kicked five says our talls are totally lost. Same old issue. Dominate the inside fifties and kick poorly ( compared to Carlton) at goal.
-
Same thing as what happened in two of our three games prior. Just dead said flat. We need some sort of new motivation drill before games. We can't continue coming out so dozy.
-
Tracca was a monster up fwd. But I'm not sure if we can't afford to have him play there . It's a tough call taking him away from our midfield.

Umpiring (Demonland in meltdown)

I don't understand why unlike us, the umpires came storming out of the blocks and gave the blues 11 frees in the first quarter to our 3 and then only awarded 8 more to them for the rest of the game. I also didn't get why for 3 quarters of the game they completely ignored htb and then decided to pay it non stop. The htb particularly frustrating because we were not getting our tack to es rewarded. It must be hard for the players when one rule comes and goes in the course of a single game. Also the dob seems to be a coin toss . One which blues got the benefit of at least three times and one seemingly influenced by who has the most supporters. It's hard not to think the umpires had a Carlton win plan last night. That Jvr free for dangerous tackle was a shocker and umpires need to be better than that. -
And we didn't capitalize on our 61 i50s to 41. Our tall fwds are not much chop. Jvr is averaging a goal a game. Petty much less than. Disco one a game but only starting. It's doing much.

They need to fine players to stamp that out. It's very dangerous. Not so much this one but it sets a precedent for other players to do the same -

Even if he did deliberately put his head to ground it was still soft. -

You don't think 11 to 3 in the first quarter was unreasonable,? Those dob were very soft. That none or our tackles got us a htb decision in the first 3 quarters then it's paid everywhere? That the call of dangerous tackle cost us a goal and the four points? You should get a job umpiring. Seriously that was an atrocious effort by the umpires tonight. It actually put me off the game. That they could give that many soft frees in the first twenty mins of the game was just silly and uncalled for. About four of them were strong frees and they missed about four of ours. Then they stopped giving frees pretty much. Half handed out in one quarter. why? The game was over at quarter time so I guess they didn't have to do anything else. A classic case of over umpiring. And yet not for genuine htb. They ignored all of Carlton's incorrect disposal for three quarters for some reason. Last week we couldn't sneeze without the umps pinging us for htb. -
And we lost centre clearances by four. An issue that was killing us till the last. I know we had Tracca fwd but when the blues did win a cc it resulted in a goal more often than our wins.
-
True but the 61 to 41 inside fifties for us has a tired same old Dees feel about it. Once again inaccurate kicking against Carlton cost us a game That goal that Kozzie missed was strange. Running into an open goal he looked away from it and then kicked. No wonder. The blues did well to flood our fwd line most of the night I guess. And our midfield allowed theirs to bomb it into theirs asap. I guess credit due to the fightback. It's hard to credit a team that doesn't score at all in the first quarter though. We started like that in three of our last four games. I know we finish strong but..... Something is broken with those beginnings.

Thank you so much. Not just the ones not paid but 11 frees to Carlton in the first to our three was putrid. That's equivalent to 44 to 12 for a game. Who wouldn't object to that? Most of them were just soft gimees and then in the last quarter the umpires remember there is a htb rule. Instead of all the ones they missed prior. I really hope we ask for an explanation but it won't change anything. Umps seriously looked like having an agenda tonight and that free called dangerous helped them achieve it. Despite our poor start we would have won if the umpires did their job without bias. They got sucked in four times with dob by the crowd. Cowards . It really puts one off the game when they get umpired like this. -
I would have subbed Woey on at half time. That was slow from Goody. Tracca fwd was great but Goody missed that one.
-
Yes but that's all they'll admit. Forget the 11 to 3 anomaly of putrid softies that helped a five zip insurmountable first quarter lead. The game was won with that and then lost by the one they might decide to admit. It's a double whammy. Because we were good enough in the end but despite the anomaly we were putrid at the start. Jack Viney was missing first three quarters. Our 3 tall fwds were missing and with Fritta down that's all folks. Full credit to Tracca tonight. Anb was great for me. What a painful loss from a game that could have at least been a draw if we could have pushed a point on the first. Again to not score on the first quarter means our preparation is really out of whack. Are we meditating beforehand? It's a strange way to play.

Our midfield were sound asleep at the start. It's happened three times this year. What are they doing before the game. Watching TV?
