  1. Might as well put Zorko in charge than Mr elbows and hands in the back Hawkins. He has talent but he's not captain material that's for sure. You can't go past Max. Captains are great players but they don't get reported. They are giants of the game but gentlemen too.
  2. Yep. Totally underestimated in the comp by so many. Easily shuts down the best of the best. His age hasn't slowed him. He has incredible closing speed and a wealth of defenders experience. Did a great job against the lions and I still remember when ne made Dusty Martin look like an auskick player. One of the reasons are backline struggled early as Hibberd was absent.
  3. Haven't seen much of him yet. I certainly think we havent seen his best either. Glad he's staying on.
  4. If we face Geelong, I would love to have every cats players mobile number and send them a faux message from Max Gawn.... Wishing them the best of luck.
  5. Yep. St kilda were unlucky against the Pies draw. Was that the year they changed it after that game, D'sone? The extra time with sometimes the The golden point or goal. It is exciting but I think I prefer the old come back next week. I mean it's an extra week of AFL. How can you argue against that? It may seem strange having 2 gf parades but oh well. Surprised the afl accepted the new model....given how much more $ they could have made. Maybe it interfered with the horse racing season or something or maybe that's how all major sporting final finals are and thus the Afl just followed suite. Let's just hope we win by the the same margin or more again.
  6. Yea he should give back the Norm Smith and Oliver should refuse accepting the Brownlow.
  7. From those posts Kozzie seems to have been forgotten. He is some great form at the minute. Fritta and bbb seem to have their confidence back. Trac was almost back to his best against the lions. Our backline is much more settled and consistent. The tag team of Jackson...Gawn should worry swannies.
  8. Swans fwd line is dangerous with Heeney, Papley and Franklin. Although I'm not sure Franklin is highly motivated. Lock down the other 2 and we will win. At least we go in full of confidence where as the swans limped home against the saints and completely missed a chance to finish above us. As for changes it's tough to decide bw Bowie and Salem.
  9. I think it will be the Pies beaten. Will be an interesting game.
  10. Yea I think most of us agree tigers will eat the lions. Their loss against us really shook them up. Swannies are good but at the Mcg and our current form we should put them away. Plus, they could have finished 2nd but were lucky the saints didn't beat them. Cats will account for Pies and freo as you say to finish the dogs.
  11. Yep that's more from the Carlton...west coast and Geelong playbook.
  12. That paddle along the boundary line from his own ruck work and kick to bbb who goaled reminded me of good he is
  13. Can't believe how long this thread is.

Agreed. If you have to travel just as far as it would be to watch a Swannies game would you not choose the latter?
  15. Well the home and away season has come and gone, very quickly, I might add. Just want to give those who keep this site up and running for very little return a big genuine thank you for all their work. I've had a few health issues this year and often this site has been more than a place of info, venting and knowledge. More often than not it has been a great source of amusement and laughter with not a few some posters having great senses of humor( is that grammatically correct Demonstone?) There have been many times this site has been a huge valve release during a game, keeping me to drinking healthy levels of alcohol intake and less comfort eating. On a more serious note or a lesser one, many posters have given me much free amusement ( aside from my paltry donation to the site) and even more made me laugh out loud even if I didn't feel like it. It also seems we have been less cranky with one another this season with less sniping and more positivity. Maybe a flag after 57 years will do that. So thank you again to those keeping the site going and to those who have shared their unique humor, wit and time over the six months. May we blessed with at least another one of the same fun up until the siren sounds our 14th flag. I wish I had cut and pasted a highlights reel for some of the top posts and we could have handed out some awards, for there have been some posts up there with ... Jesaulenko You Beauty ๐Ÿ˜ƒ maybe next year. Cheers fellow Dlandees. Litd.
  16. I'm sure I won't know after that so I'm out.
  17. Howard Hughe's Fig Pig But on a serious note, Isn't that the captain of an afl club somewhat north of ours?
  18. Playsclike he's 10 years younger. Fast for his age and a bag full of experience and footy smarts. Totally flies under the radar.

Manuka sounds like the old Moorabbin ground. I just don't think Sydney can accommodate 2 cubs. It may change but it will most likely take a very long time. If you don't follow nrl you would most likely pick Swans.
  21. You do without even trying๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  22. Well said. So often after winning a flag, players and clubs get arrogant ( auto spell suggested arrested which is true for some), and complacent. They often lose focus and motivation. But not us. We may not have finished top but we never stopped trying. We had a really frustrating run of defenders injuries from round one compared to last year but we fought on. Although hunted by clubs and the press we held firm. We have a double chance to win back to back flags and I think we will. For the ammount of talent we are still a humble team with a laser like focus on what this game is all about. From great leadership in Max to all our supporters we may be humble but we are proud as well. Not in an arrogant way but in a manner that says we are the best because we do our best. We play the ball and not the man. We play hard but fair. Our supporters are not constant booers and the club doesn't whine about poor umpiring or tough draws.( I may) If you were an immigrant, a young kid or moved interstate and were looking for a code and club, you couldn't go past the mighty MFC. I hope it stays like this and in 10 to 20 years time we have a whole new generation of supporters where we pull 45 to 55k to a game on a regular basis. The club has done a great job sowing the seeds for future success, support and existence.
  23. It still holds true but with an exemption for teams playing us.. they need to be 3 goals up for each min left.
  24. I remember when we recruited Bbb and I thought it was going to be tough to pick a fwd line from the plethora of options. Hhmmm. Now we need a another big and tall forward given Tmac' s injuries and inconsistent form which may be injury related.
  25. Well last year we had an incredible comeback against the cats on their Turf to cement top spot and secure double chance. We didn't finish on top this year but it's similar the way we absolutely demolished the lions on their turf ro secure a double chance. Just like last year 2 wins and we are in the granny. The way we played against the lions, I would not want to have to play us. We have done better than last year imho or at least as well, because of the injuries and protocols one after another to our backline. Salem, Lever, Hibberd, Petty and May have all had issues at various times and so our defence never really got to gel and be consistent. Well it seems to fine now. We are back to having zip injuries barring poor Tmac and peaking at the right time. Even Milkshake has put his hand up and said he's back and showed that the blues game wasn't just a lucky one. He played well against the lions too. Can't wait to beat swans on the Mcg.
