  1. This is a must win. I actually like our chances. Mind you I thought that about the Giants. Out... Woey and perhaps Bowey. In ...young Brown and maybe Sparrow( slim pickings if I'm honest). Turner to get a full game so not sure which from the ins or Laurie to sub. If we lose it's still possible I guess to sneak into the finals as I believe 13 wins will qualify. At the end of the day I just want us to kick cwoods ar*e even if we are not a chance to play finals. I mean that's the real win. Let's not lose perspective here😃1
  2. Top post. Yes for many there are real impediments to getting to games. Health ... absolutely for some. Logistics..... surprisingly high number of Dlanders live outside Vic. And money.....in these challenging financial times it's a fair excuse. But as you say those who don't go for protest reasons are shooting themselves in their kicking foot and the club as well. I was surprised at the crowd numbers on a game that we could have one( and almost did). A game when finals were on the line. Alas the weather was iffy but that brings to mind the expression of fair weather supporters. I do think we can do better than we did. Thanks to all of you who braved the elements and rocked up. Well done.
  3. Yes to Rivers and maybe Mcvee. But certainly for me Lever was well and truly overlooked. Our second best after Oliver.
  4. From the best midfield in the comp to one that's clearly struggled this year. Jack Viney had a ripper season last year but has been well down on average disposals this year. Oliver whilst showing signs of his old form faltered in the last quarter despite being our best player. Even before Tracca was injured this year looked sluggish at times and would often take two quarters to reach top gear. Sparrow well his season is summed up by his demotion so I don't include him. So yes we need some new blood. Rivers has been great but needs more fitness. Kozzie is needed up fwd. I have hope for AmW to have a crack as with maybe young Brown. We clearly won our flag from the three horsemen in Jack Tracca and Clarry. The Gws goals from clearances reminded me a little of the bang bang from the gf.
  5. And there is a great deal of truth in it. Rivers and Oliver clearly ran out of Puff And por Max looked like he was struggling from some ailment.
  6. Thanks ElDiablo14. So it comes back to licence fees to the Government. I should have known😃
  7. Umps seemed to blow the whistle and give giants a free just when we had started to build momentum. It's like they were often doing whatever they could to slow us down and stop us from scoring. Obviously I'm a bias Dees supporter but I did watch the replay ( well half of it) and there were definitely occasions when Gws were paid some very iffy frees when it looked like we had arm wrestled some control of the game. I know it's a tough job in real time but honestly the umps either have an agenda( which is very hard to comprehend) or are they are simply just incompetent. I think more training is required and certainly more experience. We need to raise the standard of umpiring as I think 2024 has seen the lowest grade ever.
  8. Agreed. He's hardly had whole games and he was fairly good given the amount of game time he's had. Some positive signs from the youngster for sure. Bowey on the other hand is a worry. Since he came back from his shoulder injury he has been nowhere near his best. Windsor characteristically quiet despite one or two classy acts. AmW still going ok and like Windsor I predict a big future. Jvr didn't get going and had a disappointing day. Mcvee is traveling very nicely. A shame Disco didn't get a full game as many of our fwds didn't do much.
  9. There was one against Petty that was a 50 mp always. I recall one against Kozzie the other day where he was a cm over the mark and pinged. The inconsistent application of different rules has been very frequent this year. The umpires are all over the shop and as hard as it is to watch, it must be very difficult for the players. The ducking issue is as big as it has ever been and the Afl needs to come down hard on players like TG who have a decent history of doing it.
  10. My biggest beef about footy today is not the cost of attending. Even without memberships, footy offers really good entertainment for your hard earned $. It's the other costs that really get me angry. Footy parking. Let's face it the trains are a shambles. While nowhere near the evil costs of airport par ki ing it's still steep for a couple of hours on a muddy patch of dirt. So if your lucky enough that the trains are running go for it. But it's the food and beverage costs that are shocking. And nobody really wants to bring in their own sandwiches and so forth. Or perhaps they do as the home quality is much better. But if you don't have the time or inclination, the costs and offerings at the footy are atrocious. A party of five excluding the entry price, can rack up 200 dollars in this avenue alone and that's being quite frugal in holding back the drinks. Everything combined and 500 dollars can disappear out of your account. With interest rates and house prices and inflation, I think it's not unreasonable to think crowds will suffer. But interestingly, they haven't. I guess in tough times people need some sport escapism more than ever. Perhaps more people are watching on tv? In any event the costs of drinks and snacks at venues is just wrong. Four beers wil take forty dollars off you and given for cans of full strength beer is around 15$ at Cole's or 10 dollars at Aldi, it's just wrong. I know this isn't the Afls doing but it still works me. And yes I'm cheap but I would like to leave a nice financial legacy for my two kids given the cost of housing today. It all adds up
  11. Standard at its lowest ever this year Destroying enjoyment for many.
  12. I think to be fair maybe if the club started winning more than more people would front up. I feel sorry for all those that rocked up in the cold to see that half the players didn't. It was another half hearted effort at times. We are so inconsistent. Not just week to week but it's now quarter to quarter. Our fwd line was horrible last night.
  13. Between that and your overstretched plums, I think it's time start looking after yourself. Get well soon.
  14. Fritta our highest goal scorer with two goals was very lacking in his pressure acts for me. In the last quarter there were a couple of times where he was only jogging after a player. Didn't look remotely interested in catching him. Zero tackles too. He's a classy player but he's seems either on or off at times. Needs to work a little harder perhaps.
  15. Fun Fact Both us and Gws have had four close games by one goal or less. The difference being we lost three of ours and they won three of theirs. Inaccuracy costs games. We still have this as a problem. It's been with us for three seasons now. Is the club making progress here? Not sure.
  16. I'm in Northern Wollongong. The cost of flying or petrol to drive is just too much these days. I actually enquired about a sleeper on a train but this was over 400 bucks. A train fgs. In Europe 400 bucks for train travel would give you seven laps of the whole continent. I get the economy of scale and what have you but travel between Sydney and Melbourne is not a small market. 5 million in both cities. Would it really be that hard to have a relatively fast rail service between the two at a rate that doesn't require refinancing your house again Australia is becoming not so lucky anymore . Governments pay way too much to oseas consortiums to build infrastructure that is always above budgets. And pollies spend way too much $ on travel oseas on so called fact finding missions about the environment when they could do it all by zoom and help out the planet by not burning so much bloody jet fuel. Flying is the real environment killer. That and over population. But I digress. Where were we? Footy. Um yes just too costly for istate supporters.
  17. Thought that was his best full game. Didn't smash it but certainly better than quite a few others.
  18. Fritta....bruise free footy. Kozzie....didn't turn up. Nibbler..... A mare game. Bowey....lost since injury. Jvr.....off the boil. Max.....hard coming back. Oliver...our best player. Rivers....ripper first half. Woey....not ready yet. Windsor.....was very quiet. Viney.....tried all night. Petty ....some good efforts. Milkshake...same as Petty. Chandler....did his bit. Lever...played very well. May.....going backwards perhaps. Mcvee.....always plays well. Laurie...played quite well. AmW.....ok for experience Langdon.....was good again. Tmac..... fairly average game Billings ...failed to impact. Mfc....most inconsistent club.
  19. Anb has had an absolute shocker. Last roll Too slow.
  20. That's good enough Fritta
  21. Don't bother mate. They are useless.
