  1. We miss you Angus. Hope you are ok. Just watched the 21 granny for the 102st time ( I know .....it's an amateur number). You played the toughest and bravest game about. Tx .
  2. It's interesting. Because as much as I condemn the whole violent episode, I'm secretly hanging out for the revenge game. In a completely fair and flattening event of course. Just Lots and lots of smothering. And maybe sometimes on the ball.
  3. Clown for hire. I wonder how much he got for his crappy cameo?
  4. He is such a a key player. When he returned from injury, I realized what a better side we were. Sadly after a while his form dropped off. I wonder if the same issue cropped up again. Salo in his peak powers is a game changer. Hopefully he's just being managed at the moment. I hope he's ok.
  5. Great effort WcW. Be careful with that umbrella though. It's ok to have one eyed supporters but not too great for mid fielders.
  6. Not so much for Goody next year perhaps. The club will probably agree and do right and stand by him but the media is out to get him for sure. I guess when you win a flag the expectations are higher. Losing in straight sets twice in a row has bought added pressure now. And despite injuries being the main reason the pressure is still there. I can't imagine it happening a third time. Hopefully it won't. I think we will be in the mix again but a lot depends upon young Jvr and Petty' s and Fritta' s feet. Hopefully Max fairs well too. I don't think we can count on Tmac or Bbb anymore. Anything we get from them is an added bonus. But our midfield and backline is still exceptionally strong with a good mix of young blood in the ranks. As much as a disappointment ( the finals) this year was compounded by injuries and Maynard's thuggery, I am really enthusiastic and excited again by a flag hope in 24. The cricket world Cup was a nice distraction but I'm really starting to have footy withdrawals. I guess I should be proud of the club for making the top four and giving both finals a red hot go.
  7. Good post. Our fwd line is my main concern. I don't understand why we didn't recruit a couple more talls for it but maybe they weren't to be found. Perhaps the club is still banking on Tmac or Bbb. Jvr is going to have a massive year, I hope.
  8. I do recall a reading a book during my economics degree called " How to lie with statistics." A good read indeed.
  9. Your right. But the issue for me is the longer travel with ours and also larger parochial crowds. I don't really consider playing Hawks in Tassie is an interstate game as it's against a Vic team.
  10. It's because they only have five interstate games. Two of those are easy ones. Only one trip to Optus and no game in Adelaide other than Gather which all clubs have. We visit Adelaide twice admittedly one for Gather ( but it's a S.A. team) and Optus twice.
  11. Collingwood's fixture in terms of their five interstate games....one being hawks in Tassie and another gold coast is a joke. No wonder they won a flag. Protected species is the dirty magpie.
  12. I'm not sure if this grading includes interstate games Collingwood's interstate travel is as usual as soft as it gets. Joke.
  13. Quick trivia quiz. How many inventors have an SI unit of measurement named for them as well as a product or company name,? Hertz is one.
  14. For me that was the glaring problem with his game. Very soft hands . A good ruckman is a good mark. But I did think he was good at ground level. In the final analysis with Maxy, we have simply been spoilt with one of the best ruckman the game has had.
  15. It's a great list of Ruck champions you mention. Hopefully Max is fit and fine for another three years. Fullerton isn't too bad but that gives us a reasonable about amount of time to find another great player. I also think Grundy is overrated. He may be good at tap work but his general play elsewhere was average for me.
  16. Watched the highlights. Tx a lot. I was wrong about honor and sportsmanship. Rodney Marsh claiming he wasn't sure one catch didn't carry was great honesty and integrity. Dkls run up was longer than Benny Browns. How young was Bill Lawry. Some incredible talent in that lineup. Cheers Macca. I'm thinking the World cup result should add some spice to this Friday's test match.
  17. Howzat! Kerry Packer's War. Packer is portrayed as the bullheaded business man he was but it's a nice walk down memory lane.
  18. 70s cricket was sublime. Including all the changes with Packer. If you get a chance to watch the two part drama on Netflix re Packer v The cricket board, it's worth it. I still remember the centenary test.
  19. I think with hindsight now, there were a couple of red flags. Basically all the pressure was on India. And there was a lot of it. India relied on their top order batsmen. They were very good but in doing most of the heavy lifting many of their batters didn't get much time. With our team it was always a case of someone new stepping up. Got hand it to us, we are super cool when it counts.
  20. Has cricket really ever been a game based on honor and good sportsmanship? Its always touted as a gentleman's game but the reality is very different. Even going back to the bodyline era....it wasn't very sporting back then. It's a nice idea but I'm not sure if it's the case.
  21. Wasn't exactly great sportsmanship presenting medals in an empty stadium with India holed up in their rooms. I think they must have been gutted though. Firm faves throughout the comp and one billion on their case. The only game they lose is the final. So it's easy for me to think they should have been present for the presentation but the reality is very different.
  22. Yep, you were right about the call to bowl first. Gutsy call that paid off. So impressed with Travis Head. Batsman , bowler and penultimate fielder.
