I definately feel the pain. Your are right about losing a generation of supporters. Ive been around long enough to see some good times, in the late 80's and 2000's but for my nephew whom i brainwashed when young, he is now 11. He only knows the melbourne team we have now. His interest in Melbourne is dying and his neighbours whom are bombers are always chearing and bragging. I think its only time before he just gives up. Hes not suprised when we are losing, but surprised when we are in front. (when was that again) Then I have my kids whom are 6 + 4. Ive always looked forward to the days ahead of taking them to the footy. But in our current state I worry that in 5yrs time, they wont care either.

We never had any forwards since Neitz and Robbo Retired then we lost Jurrah to boot. We were pinning our hopes On Juice , but he couldnt crack it except for Mark of the year ? wasnt it. Miller despite hes efforts wasnt going to be the answer. So selectoin of Dawes and Clark was the way to go, If they get fit and can be there with Hogan, Our forwards will look the best in a while. But Midfield is in crisis. Jones need support and Viney still learning. McKenzie is just a tryer. Grimes best suited as a bank flanker IMO. We are crying out for Jobe Watson or Pendlebury type.

We have no chance of recruiting any decent player. I dont care how much money we got. No one would want to join us at this point. We need to improve alot and be heading up, before players will want to join us. Our only hope would be to recruit players that are on the fringe in good clubs that cant quite get a crack. I dont think you have to go that far back, I have fond memorys of the John Northy and Daniher days. Unfortuately in the 80's we had to cope with the best Hawks side of any era. Daniher had us playing finals and got us to the 2000 Grand final. They seem like glory days for me now.

I think the days of Williams, Eade and Sheedy are gone. I dont think in there time of life they would want it. Roos happy in media and Well why would Worsfold leave WC. That leaves Ayres. But hey Ratten is at Hawks and might be a Premiership assitant at years end and he can bring Yze back with him. I think having someone like Ayres as some sort of coach would benefit.

This thread shows, that forget the rookie coach. We need a battle hardened experienced coach. With an upcoming rookie at the side who can take over. Funny enough like what GWS have done and as did the Pies. So who are all the Expereinced Coaches ? What about a Ratten etc ?

Make him the interim coach. I dont want any from within, Which is a sad state in my belief at the club right now.

The question is does Neeld get 100% effort out of the players? and the answer being no, is the problem.
