  1. Matty Whelan is my favourite player from the Dees ever. Extremely tough but fair, skilled player. Pretty underatted.

Got some great memories including flattening Hird in the '04 final. Easily one of the top 5 tacklers in the league in his heyday, possibly number 1. You could always rely on this guy to insert some PAIN into the opposition at important moments.

  2. I am perplexed by Ricky P. With his tackling efforts against the tigers last year and his hard approach to the footy I would have bet that he would have relished under Neeld at the start of the year. I don't get what is wrong with RIcky.

That's exactly the way I feel regarding Petterd. He can be a really good player and from what I have seen at training in the past was pretty fired up and competetive there too.

His first game standing in the way of Barry Hall and taking the hit and the mark was a sure sign of things to come, so I thought. Bit of a mystery to me.

  3. I was having lunch today in Clarendon St South Melbourne. Eddie McGuire came out of the Coffee Club, 5 minutes later I saw Liam Jurrah walk past into Coles nextdoor.

Now I got no idea if that's coincidence or not. McGuire works at Triple M so he's often around, but never seen Liam before.

Anyway he probably will try to get into a SA club, but I think he should have at least given us the option for a trade.

  4. Doesn't work for me with Chrome, but does with Internet Explorer (after accepting the security warning thingy). Is that your problem?

Thanks for that it works under IE but not Firefox.

  5. Read the following slowly, carefully and take time to think about it.

Frank Costa became President of Geelong in 1998. Brian Cook became CEO in 1999. Mark Thompson became coach in 2000. Players such as Ling, Bartel, Chapman, Ablett, Scarlett, Harley, Corey, Enright, Milburn and Kelly were at the club by 2002. After 5 rounds in 2007 they were 10th after 2 wins and 3 losses. Following the round 5 loss Paul Chapman publicly questioned the club's culture. He criticised the lack of team mentality with many of his fellow players. Mark Thompson followed with a similarly blunt assessment. By 2007 Costa was in his 10th year as President, Cook in his 9th year as CEO and Thompson in his 8th year as coach, yet the culture at the club was considered poor by the players and coaching group alike.

So I ask you 'deluded', how important were the President, Ceo, and Coach in determining the club's culture ? No doubt they have a role, but it's the players who determine the culture and more specifically it's your senior players. Following some brutally honest meetings, reflections and soul searching, together with the guidance of the Leading Teams program, and Garry Ablett being challenged by his teammates to train and work harder, the players embarked upon some rigourous performance standards and accountability. Everyone at Geelong knows that the turn around in the club's culture was player driven. It wasn't the CEO, President, Coach, or Auntie May down the road.

But I know that some still won't get it.

    You are correct.

The fish rots from the head, and conversely the opposite is true.

  6. Mark Neeld should make these chumps watch Shaka Zulu Part 2. I think we should adopt some of his training practices for our team.

How about making them stamp on thorns and if they grimace, impalement dropped to the VFL? He was able to turn a heap of civvies into a region dominating army..then again I wonder if he's available to coach?

  7. changes for next week. Take the GPS data of the players who played in the midfield, see how far they ran during the game, drop those who ran the least distance. I'd exclude Howe from this treatment, but something tells me he'd be at the top of the list, not the bottom...

    Interesting idea...there's something to it.

  8. Does anyone have any more chicken hearts to drop down at the club? Astonishing lack of spine, clearly below AFL level. Can we clone Matty Whelan 22 times?

  9. Hmm indeed Inferno

What the hell am I talking about? Excactly which bit of the post confused you?

Interesting that you took the time to respond

Well done to Stylus - Summed this up very quickly

No part of your post is confusing.

However it is so petty and irrelevant for God's sake.

  10. I can't stand this current Top our Coaching Team wear.

    * Bailey looked stupid dressed in this top for 4 Years

    * Todd Viney looks all wrong in this gear

& I hate to say it but Neeld looks all wrong also in this gear..

FFS reverse the Red & Blue & make this top look mean & lean instead of bright & gay.

Am I on my own here? I know its very minor in the scale of things however it has [censored] me off for years

& seeing Neeld in this top today just reinforced my thoughts.

hahaha disgraceful post. What the hell are you talking about? Focus on relevant things hmm?

  11. Listen to Malthouse's Presser on SEN...He absolutely treats Mark Robinson with disdain...as a nobody.

I thought it was superb. Robinson is the epitomy of Bogan Journalism, and should be respected only to those levels

Worth a listen i assure you!!!

Yeah that was funny, Malthouse said something like 'someone said before does Neeld have the anger to be a senior coach'

    Robinson goes 'That was me'

    Malthouse 'Hmmm yeah'.

    Real disdain in his voice.

  12. I can only tell you what I know - it does not hurt for it to come out now. It was a family decision not a Tom Scully one.

His injury history had a lot to do with it.- None of us would look that $ in the eye and walk away from it- as I said won't stop me giving it to him in spades.

Family is one-eyed Richmond - we are MFC the club that tanked to ensnare him.

    LOL

I have seen this point brought up a few times....his family are one eyed Richmond? So what? Judd's are one eyed Melbourne. Is he playing for us?

  13. But I think Jack Trengove trumped him in spades when he signed up in the face of great adversity and I think that is exactly the kind of characters we need at our club.

You can say that again. Trengove knew what he was doing, and is obviously highly committed to the club. Next captain for sure.

  14. I almost dropped my saw at work today when $cully said one of the reasons he joined GWS was because he was looking forward to playing with a young exciting list.

Weren't you already playing with one? Don't treat us like village idiots mate, this is the part where u lose respect.
